VHOOR’s latest album “Ritmo” pays homage to the northeastern Brazilian rhythm Samba de Coco, a variation of the broader northeastern dance/rhythm Coco. With deep cultural references and traditions, Samba de Coco has a unique shuffle beat accompanied by a traditional dance using specific garments amongst all participants. Samba de Coco also carries deep Afro-Brazilian roots, based in Brazil’s quilombo (quilombolas) communities in the northeastern state of Pernambuco. Quilombola communities are settlements founded by escaped slaves and remain powerful symbols of Afro-Brazilian identity, culture and resistance. VHOOR has taken this often overlooked cultural phenomenon and has melded it into his own style of production, updating the sounds, while maintaining its roots.

Bandicut is one of those Portuguese producers who are redefining Afrobeat music. 'Dust Lines' is the name of his debut EP, which consists of 4 tracks and 2 collaborations with LOKOWAT and Rolv.K. Starting with 'Lines’, a melancholic track that fuses downtempo and afrobeat, to make way for the collaborations in' Margem' and 'À la maison’, where the guest artists print their house, hip-hop and jazz influence, and ending with' Dusty ', another harmonious track with a hip-hop and Latin touch.

Rhythm Chronicles is a result of the music I've been exposed to through the dance floors and my personal DJ sets. I've been inspired to explore percussive kits and tech chords with this project allowing to step out of my comfort zone. This is a tribute to dance, music and energy that all form part of a universal language we understand.
