9th Cloud "Resurgences"

9th Cloud has regularly brought forth blasts of ethereal bliss, pure droplets of sound from the skies of Provence. One of France's finer underground talents, 9th Cloud has remained true to his own approach, concocting a unique blend of delicate rhythms and melodic electronics since 1999.

We're proud to present PRISM, a milestone in his discography, which masterfully combines well-versed skill and dynamic innovation. Propelled into orbit, we find the elusive 9th Cloud, drifting through the stratosphere, stirring up dense billows of mist and melody, steeped with Hip-Hop and Electronica.

PRISM takes us on a race after forgotten memories, an ethereal vision of random crystals in our consciousness. The tracks swoop, swell, flutter and dissipate, fluctuating between vaporous visions and solid mass.  

As a boy, he would often borrow 7-inch singles from the jukebox in his father's **restaurant/café,
spending countless hours alone, bumping tunes on the tiny record-player. This irresistible attraction for new sounds and musical devices would prove to be more than a passing interest, as cassette collages in his teen years can attest to. Scratching and turntablism soon became a central part of his music, in addition to samplers and synthesizers. 

Ever active, 9th Cloud has amassed a great deal of experience as an audiovisual engineer, teaching, learning and participating in numerous workshops over the years, always eager to find new opportunities to share his passion for music and production. 

His intuitive approach to composition has not gone unnoticed by the press and the public. In 2004, his first album "A Monkey in a Yellow Hat" was received as “music that transports you to another time, waking forgotten memories, only to find all of the original freshness intact”.

The EP '43 Sunsets' released in 2012, was lauded as a “micro-odyssey which takes the listener along dusty soundscapes, endlessly enveloping and devouring all space”.

In 2013, 9th cloud began composing music for the audiovisual show ('PRISM'),  alongside video artist Cyril Meroni. For this project, he re-works unfinished drafts, pushing deeper to test ideas using sound as matter, varying levels of distortion, granular synthesis, dynamic presence and empty space.

All the preparation and research for the live show has now been captured and finalized for release on Eklektik Records in 2015, all six tracks featured on PRISM confirm the profoundly evolutionary progression in 9th cloud's, as each release provides something increasingly denser, fuller, more complete.
