Los Angeles DJ and artist Assal's debut solo release has been a long time coming.
The dreamy COBRA EP showcases the multi-disciplinary artist's abilities in a sensual collection of tracks that encapsulate her signature DJ sets. Elements of trap and Afrobeat blend seamlessly into trip hop and chillwave, resulting in a body of work that celebrates her culture, sexuality and independence. 

From the beat-driven intro track WISH I WAS WITH U to clap back anthem NOT UR BABY and chillout track BEACHSIDE, the EP takes you on a journey from heady late-night dance floors to relaxed afterhours. It's music to dance to, smoke to, do yoga to, have sex to, or simply vibe out and get ~wavy~ to. 

Assal's hypnotic rhythms are underpinned by intelligent and intuitive melodies conjuring up Middle Eastern influences, her voice blending as yet another instrument in a haunting and otherworldly soundscape. For the Iranian-born creative, it's second nature. "My household was full of music and dance… my parents played a lot of Persian and Arabic music, my mom belly-danced and I was encouraged to sing from a young age," says Assal. Her mother tongue, Farsi, even makes it onto a few of the tracks, such as head-nodding lead single DANCE FOR U / MIRAKHSAM, the hedonistic WAVY, intoxicating DADDY and self-reflective INTIMATE.
