Soul Groove returns to Feedasoul Records with a cracking three-tracker. Jazz at Muniaka Club brings forward Soul Groove’s signature soulful sound that we’ve grown to love. Heavily rooted in Jazz, the EP title track highlights his downtempo rhythm alongside a groove-laden bassline, and heartfelt woodwinds, balanced by atmospheric pads and synths. Part 2 provides more bounce with his club rework of the track. Straight drums, movement-inducing percussion and building sax samples outline the artist’s symmetry between Jazz and House Music.

APPAREL PREMIERE: Soul Groove - Muniaka Club Pt. 2 [Feedasoul]

We are all very excited about presenting the new catalogue for Apparel Music Limited. We decided to offer our fans an alternative point of view to complete our distribution package. Kisk, this time with the help of Gennaro Mastrantonio, is developing a new concept designed for a bigger dance hall. Whereas Apparel Music covers the daytime, warm-up and after-party side, Apparel Music Limited represents the night in all its different shades. We have chosen Francesco Gemelli to set our experimental work in motion. Francesco’s classic vocal house music takes us back in time, as if Disco Music never died and the ’90s still had something to say.. the aggressive, uncompromising rhythm of Spin My Mind melts into the love sounds of She Loves the ‘80s, as if travelling back in time were not enough, as if modern times were in the past and the past was hic et nunc, here and now. Ughl revamps the visuals in a Deep House version of She Loves the ‘80s, turning it into a very up-to-date track, while Gennaro gives Spin My Mind just the right trajectory for Limited Edition.

Deep, up-tempo rolling basslines, soulful samples, warm pads, dreamy synths create a (post)lofi vibe. Joining the Berlin Bass Collective for the first time, LA native Edward White fits in nicely with his dreamy but club-focused sound. The record packs a tight, up-tempo feel, using deeper textures and counterbalancing them with a danceable groove—that perfect balance between sunshine and grit.

We are delighted to announce that July 2023 is the month in which you will finally be able to know the new Apparel Wax product: Apparel Wax Mini. The Mini catalogue (dedicated to 7-inch vinyl) fits into the narrative of our masked hero as a sort of prequel, as the 'Mini' vinyl represents the ‘childhood’ of Apparel Wax, his life before its music started to be heard around the world. Another novelty is that the first release is double. In fact, APLWAXMINI001 and 002 will drop on the same day, both containing two tracks, one on each side. With a physical product of different size, we have also adapted the graphic design of the project, as you’ll notice looking at the record. A new adventure begins in the world of the masked artist who, this time, will tell another musical story created by the now famous anonymous collective of phenomenal artists behind the project. APLWAXMINI001 is composed of two tracks perfect for the summer period, both with a very marked essence of lightness and groovy, both ideal to bring back the carefree and cheerful musical soul at the base of the project since its origins. We’re also back with Wax’s characteristic gift kits, which from now on will be strictly green and recyclable.

The Interstate 55 project was born of a friendship between two young students, Chris and Alex, at a warehouse party in South Chicago in 1995. Press correspondents for Coda and Trax Magazine between Chicago and Paris, the two guys helped promote the Underground sound in Europe, interviewing some of the greatest legends: Paul Johnson, Cajmere, Derrick Carter, Dance Mania Crew and more. 25 years after the most beautiful private parties, Alex returns to the mix to promote the underground once again, through various Radio Shows on SoundCloud, with current tones and the launch of a label planned for next year. Delano's attention to programming sets that are kinetic, emotional and educational are met with a delivery of the highest class. Having been one of the original young guns personally mentored by Motown’s 1st DJ, Ken Collier, he displays skills entirely unique to this group. Having cut his teeth in a time when an aspiring DJ had to live off his wits to make the cut, his dynamic skill set has made him the real Detroit head's secret favorite. Smith's extended hiatus later in his DJ years was ended spectacularly when the Detroit Beatdown project again highlighted his talent. Teamed with Mike ‘Agent X' Clark and Norm Talley, the crew began to spread the word of Detroit to fresh audiences, in demand globally and touching down at renowned clubs such as London's Fabric en route.

On the production front, Delano stands head and shoulders above the rest in crafting alluring, forward thinking and highly danceable grooves. His productions on Third Ear, Sushitech and Still Music have taken up crate spaces with jocks looking to add the perfect blend of soul and energy to their sets. With his own imprint Mixmode debuting in 2003, it continues to release selectively soulful dance floor gems. Both behind the decks and in the studio, Delano's genre boundary defying vision of working a floor is a direct link to the beginnings of the DJ in Detroit, maintaining his integrity today, his hunger shows little sign of abating.

On the shores of Te Moana-a-Toi, where the Bay of Plenty kissed the city of Tauranga, a pair of friends, kindred spirits bound by rhythm and melody, found inspiration in the whispers of the sea breeze and the laughter of the sunlit waves. These two, Groundhog, were purveyors of groove. One morning, as the first lights danced across the water, they stood atop Mauao, the sacred mountain overlooking their hometown. The air was alive with energy, as if the earth itself hummed in anticipation of what was to come. It was there, under the glow of the rising sun, that inspiration struck. Another killer quartet from Germany's Damian Rausch here, featuring some of his most powerful work to date. 'Together (Big Room Mix)' started out as a remix for Chez Damier & Ben Vendren's H2H project before morphing into the track you hear now. It sits at the perfect mid-point between skippy '90s house and atmospheric progressive (those stabs tho!), seamlessly blending the deep and the driving with an array of lush sounds peppered throughout the mix. 'Let The Sunshine In (Club Mix)' is pumping while maintaining a deep edge, driven by sorrowful organ bass and a haunting tone surrounding Sulene Fleming's powerhouse vocal, invoking turn-of-the-millenium chart dance classics. 'Twister' heads deeper into proggy grooves, tempered soulful vocal strains, while 'Windows' goes further into heads-down territory, whipping up a relentless hypnotic groove.

Transitioning from the successful 2 Years EP (O Sótão Records, 2023), Tiago Fonseca became an up and coming Producer and DJ based between Lisbon and Porto. On the back of gigs at some of the best clubs in the country, he also transitions from Tiago A.F. to TGZ (sounding Tigz) as his moniker for what’s to come ahead. Long Shape, his latest project, is O Sótão’s first vinyl release, and the first to be delivered with higher standards of professionalism. Learning the trade, the processes, the timeframes, the costs, and having just completed 10 years of existence. A good time to go a bit deeper.

Web Web with their sixth album in seven years and with a new touch. More psychedelic, sometimes more krauty than before. This time, WEB WEB in their original line - up (without Max Herre) have (again) chosen a special guest: JJ Whitefield (The Poets Of Rhythm / Karl Hector & The Malcouns / Syrup), who contributes the fantastic guitar sound. His riffs are sometimes funky as with the Poets Of Rhythm or Syrup, or more psychedelic as with Karl Hector & The Malcouns or his many live and studio recordings with Embryo. The sound color of his guitar gives the album the thrust into the wonderful atmosphere of spacey jazz - kraut bands of the seventies.

Following the critical acclaim of their self-titled debut EP, praised by the likes of scene figures such as Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Laurent Garnier, Kevin Beadle, Pat Steel or Shy One, the Marseilles quartet Angles Morts is back with a four-track EP reflecting further growth in their sound. Drawing on the idea of itinerancy inspired by their wanderings on the roads of southern France, the project showcases a stunning soundscape, filled with the hypnotic textures provided by their arsenal of synths including Prophet Rev-2, Roland Alpha Juno 1, Emu-Orbit and Nord Lead A1. With its racing bass line, syncopated chords and dusty drums, the opening track “Macadam Freak” is a superb statement of the band's sound, concluding with a dreamlike saxophone solo by Matthieu Fabre.

"Just because you call your song "Lost in Detroit" doesn't mean you're necessarily from Detroit. That's the case here, though, and I'll admit I wouldn't have guessed without looking it up. That track, first up on this excellent EP, is Delano Smith's, and it's got enough of a basic fuzzy quality—that filmy kind of filtering that gives things a shade of static, a purposeful analog feel—that it could have come from just about anywhere that sort of thing is in vogue, which is probably just about anywhere house reigns supreme. But that alien zone is increasingly crowded, and Smith's touches of stick percussion kick it up a couple places. Smith's reworking of Gavin Herlihy's "Krypton Faktor" is similarly cool, but here the beat carries a lot more tonnage. The drums are fiercely articulated and a big synth riff joins two minutes in just to amp things up for real. Herlihy's original "Krypton Faktor" is different again: lengthy, ruminative, spooky in texture without being a forbidding listen. The smoky cloudy organ effect that provides the hook draws you to it." (Resident Advisor)


Plain and Simple TV

What does it sound like? 
A little slice of quality, deep but not dull tech courtesy of US producer Delano Smith and Briton Gavin Herlihy. The EP is dominated by its title track thanks to an additional remix, but does come with a well worth buying B-side. Starting with the A though things are comparable to Siesta's hey day and the tougher, more electro edges of the old West Coast sound, meaning driving but groovy basslines and inviting percussion abounds, while there's also an obvious techno zeitgeist in the brew too. Smith's own remix reduces the stabbed tempo and opts for a cosmic disco workout that's no less reliant on the low end than its predecessor was. Then there's Lost In Detroit, which falls somewhere in between the mechanical soul of said city's newcomers and Stacey Pullen's smooth techy stylings, capped off with a guy saying something hypnotic. Just don't ask us what it's got to do with the 1980s TV series.

Where would I dance to it? 
Anywhere and everywhere, particularly after Villalobos apparently dropped both original and remix when Herlihy passed him a copy at a gig in Leeds.

What highlights can I expect to hear? 
For us Lost In Detroit is the winner, as is anything that boasts such rhythm. Dark, dirty, and with all the hallmarks of classic tech house this is one all sides of the four four camp can get down to.

Why should I pay for it? 
As ever it's a question of morality.
