No Static / Automatic top off 2024 with ‘Are Hands Waterproof’ a vinyl EP from sci-fi electro futurist Second Storey. One of the first artists to release on fabric’s Houndstooth, he’s also released on respected electro labels Trust, Mechatronica and Frustrated Funk and is resident at London’s bastion of underground-grade techno and electro - Natural Selection. Storey takes his foundational love for electro and blends it with advanced level sound design, dropping 5 new intelligent and effective sound system tracks on this release.

No Static / Automatic kick off their 2025 schedule with a new release from a lynch pin of Northern Spain’s electronic music community as Fanzine’s Roi joins the roster with a relentless EP of raw, rave-drenched Electro built for sweat-soaked warehouse floors. Giving us a real feel for how Roi channels the untamed spirit of A Coruña’s rugged landscape, Arise EP is powered by kicking and deep sub-bass and pure raw, untamed energy.

A co-founder of Spain’s much respected Fanzine collective, these tracks were originally written for his live set at the 2023 festival edition. Known for pulling from a wide range of influences, Roi works through a dynamic range of hard-punching rhythms on Arise, ending with a crescendo of dense melodies in closing track Spite.

Ben Pest and ARA-U unite for the next release on No Static / Automatic. Kaos Sympatik EP started life with the pair recording jams of various vintage studio kit, including an EMS VCS3, Roland VP330 and an Orgon Systems prototype known only as the “Silver Box”, which developed into full tracks over subsequent sessions.

Ben Pest has been busy releasing high grade club tracks including collabs with Radioactive Man and Kursa for Asking For Trouble and Love Love Records last year, and with solo EPs dropping on Cultivated Electronics and Posh End music. Here he links with NS/A boss ARA-U, turning out some of their headiest material to date.

Ara-u announces a new electro compilation on his label No Static / Automatic. Titled The Exiled, the album showcases the sound of artists he grew up with in his local scene in Venezuela and also sets out to raise money to support the local community. 

The Exiled brings together a new generation of exiled artists who left the country for economic and political reasons.  The act of working with them on the release also strives to keep them connected and bring a creative sense of joy to their home country. All proceeds from the release will be donated to Santa Cruz De Mara which supports elderly people living in poverty and struggling to survive with accommodation and food.

No Static Automatic is back with a ferocious offering from two pillars of the UK electro scene: The Dexorcist & Bass Junkie.  
 
The Dexorcist grew up on a diet of ‘80s electro, hip hop and Miami bass before graduating to acid house, techno, bleep and bass. Involved in London’s warehouse scene throughout the ‘90s and heading up the Control Tower label alongside Keith Tenniswood of Two Lone Swordsmen, The Dexorcist has gone on to release music on seminal labels like Furthur Electronix, Super Rhythm Trax, and Yellow Machines. 
 
On the other side of the workshop, we have Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie. A devoted electro head from the start, Bass Junkie has been active as a DJ, live act and producer since the late ‘80s. His signature take on gnarly, bass-led electro led him to work with artists like Radioactiveman, Carl Finlow, and Dynamix II; releasing on Touchin’ Bass, Elektrix, and DMX Krew’s Breakin’ Records, not to mention his own Battle Trax imprint. 
 
Here, The Dexorcist and Bass Junkie join forces again, serving up an impeccable 4-tracker of pulsing grit, extra-terrestrial bass and funky machine hydraulics.

Brains rule for the next No Static / Automatic release as the hyper-prolific DMX Krew presents five new tracks of laser gun acid, bleepy electro and mutant tunnelling techno on Mutant Brain EP.

NS/A could not be more honoured to bring DMX Krew to the label, hugely influential in UK’s electronic music world, the sheer mass and relentless ingenuity of his release history is breathtaking. There’s over 24 albums and even more EPs released to date, found on Rephlex Records, his own Breakin and Fresh Up labels, and more recently a string of albums on Hypercolour Records. It really would not be right to pin him down to one style of beat with the expanse of his work covering braindance, electro funk, pop, acid, ambient, techno and beyond.

Working with the Aphex Twin created Sample Brain, old disco records and analogue synth notes were fed into the sample mashing web app to create the sounds used on this EP. Label boss Ara-u picked out his favourites from the palette which DMX Krew cut up, looped and added in rock-hard drums. The results are super playful, high calibre club tracks you expect from the one and only DMX Krew - designed for heavy impact on the club floor.

They moved slowly across the desert sand, leaving a trail in their wake. The stars flickered up above against a deep coal sky, wispy and wondrous in the midst of the night. It might as well be night for the sun had never reached these parts, up on a distant planet far away from everything they’d ever known.

They’d been here for one week, amidst a barren landscape on the red ash. Perhaps this would one day become home but for now it felt as if everything was fighting against them in a bid to make them leave. Be it the cold wind of the morning or the raucous heat of the afternoon.

This was a wild world of a place.

Aviary Dwellings EP is a personal document of the artist's life setting out on the road travelling from his home country of New Zealand through Asia before landing in Germany. Along the way he observes experiences and reimagines them through his production, transcribing visual and tactile life experiences from the lens of a parallel reality named The Aviary.

The EP kicks off with ‘Err Hello’, it’s wholly discordant, lairy, and unapologetically weird. ‘‘Get A Grip’ drifts in with hallucinatory wafts of sound over a warped riff, building into a granular, distorted headfuck of a hoover-bass moment. This one will make the subs rattle on the right side of distortion. On the B Side title track ‘Kaos Sympatic’ gets stuck in with a big broken beat and guttural sub that transforms into a techno drop to drive this track home. Finishing up, ‘Slapback’ serves up a cut of high energy electro funk, coming off like classic ERP on heat.

Pest's recent output moves from solo cuts on Cultivated Electronics and Posh End to pairings with Kursa and Radioactive Man, and has of late leaned into high-volt funk and rougher-edged drums, but here the connection with Ara-U (whose own catalogue now numbers sixteen NS/A releases) moves to twitchier, more sensitive sequencing.

The EP is a masterful display of analog synthesis. Sanger crafts simple, infectious basslines and leads, then sets them in motion, allowing them to converse, modulate, and evolve into a complex tapestry of sound. The result is a listening experience that is as intellectually fascinating as it is physically compelling. Over a bedrock of sturdy electro beats, Sanger layers acid basslines with wild envelope modulation, distorted humanoid samples, and an array of wobbly, techy textures designed to bring dancefloors to a state of ecstatic, unstable bliss.

Datatheft opens the A side working 303 acid and 808 kicks together for heavy effect, followed by electro funk kicker Failure to Communicate. The B side leads with Daytime Robbery which rocks along a gnarly bassline, coloured with synth flares. The Last Waltz rounds things up with more satisfyingly grizzly sounds with the pair making full use of a well stocked studio one last time for this EP.
