Alex Turr returns to BOX4JOY for a special remix EP of his previous release Home & Romance. Proudly inviting a few masters of the craft to rework the amazing twin originals. Home's first remix is brought by Kornel Halasz, hailing from Britain with a strong ground in dynamic style Kornel makes a debut that amps up the level of BOX4JOY's unique roster, is much easier to say this entire release showcases forward thinking and attention to detail. 

Stripped away from many of Turr's textures Kornel's deep minimalistic approach has a punch and perfect mood of delicacy to set things off. The breakdown holds you in still bliss transforming into a perfect lush drop. Second remix of Home is from label boss ALURIA bringing a melancholic twist to the original, organic textures from Turr's song are carried by a percussive and signature style emphasis into a lucid breakdown that slowly opens full of sound. 

Next BOX4JOY's hot resident Cheric summons the rework of Romance with a dance-floor groover. Elegantly using the accents achieved in Turr's melody and sound design, Cheric makes a brutal revamp with high scoring moments of deep vicious bass and resonating synths, the drop holds a rumble perfect for the club. 

Last on closing the EP and happy as we welcome to the label Jiminy Hop. From an outstanding catalog of original music Jiminy's rework material is nothing different when it comes to quality, Hop's Romance rework brings classic noir vibes on the melodic language with massive turns of whimsical chants, giving us smart use of synth modulation to express the nature of the title.

Hello!

Welcome back once again to the Depth Perception Sessions.

This week we welcome US based artist Cheric to the show.

Bio:

Passion and consistency are the foundation of a true artist. What’s in a name or status compares not to a focused vision no matter the course of the journey. Eric “Cheric” Chen is a Queens, New York native whose vision of making music that keeps true to himself will never alter. Many artists conform to the norm and “the now,” but Cheric creates from the heart, whether he loves his work or battles the inner critic, he won’t deliver unless the music comes from his soul.

Cheric’s music explores the subtle and expansive natures of dance music and that’s landed him original releases and remixes on Click Amsterdam, Cinematique (Manual Music), Baroque, and Box4Joy (Incepto). His remix of Bella Mer’s “Loaded Gun” gained much praise for it’s deep, hypnotizing, progressive soundscape and the story behind it. "Loaded Gun is about the tendency to be drawn toward harm and a desire for danger... a moth to the flame. A world in which every archetype points a loaded gun at each others' heads in judgment and blame." Something many of us can relate to.

With the inner voice telling him to keep focus and stay on the grind, Cheric continues to progress forward as a true artist. An artist who accepts difficulties and successes all the same in order to manifest his vision of making music that keeps true to oneself.

It's time to show you the third of a total of four remix EP's for Jaap Ligthart's well received 'Itaka' album which was released on Manual Music earlier this year. This time done by two familiar names to the label, as Around Us and Cheric step up to the plate.

Right in the middle of building the anticipation towards Around Us' debut album 'Reaching Home' they take a short break from the album's single- and EP releases by remixing 'Flairpusher' and turning it into a lush delightful melodic / progressive breaks rework.

As busy as Around Us' release schedule is at the moment, Cheric actually makes his return after nearly a year of radio silence. With this rendition for Jaap & Saléh's 'Sahakara' he proves he has still got the magic touch. Classy remix!

CHERIC Stories

It's been over two years since Cheric released his 'Indigo EP' on Manual Music and a year since he last appeared on the long running label, remixing one of the songs from Jaap Ligthart's Itaka album. But now he's back with two fresh cuts and Jaap Ligthart returning the favor on remix duties as Manual Music proudly presents 'Ina EP'.

The release kicks off with the title track, a cleverly produced track that sits nicely in between deep / melodic / prog genres with it's warm and subtle Detroit-esque chords. A complex little dreamer this one, timeless quality cut!

'Bajuju' starts off in the same deal realm but quickly builds towards a piece of melodic progressive house delight with it's euphoric arpy melodies and fat- yet not overly fierce bassy synth work.

Finally it's Jaap Ligthart's turn to switch 'Ina' into an uplifting and infectious progressive house groover. A peak time dancefloor pleaser this one. Another great one by the Dutch industry legend.
