We no longer need to introduce DJ Babatr — founding figure of the Raptor House movement and a true pioneer of Venezuela’s electronic scene. From the streets of Caracas to dancefloors worldwide, his raw and vibrant sound blends tribal percussion, urban energy, and futuristic electronic pulses.

Couvre x Chefs had the honor of hosting him for his first club show in France in October 2023 at Petit Bain — a defining moment that marked the beginning of a lasting connection between the producer and our label.

Two years later, this relationship comes full circle with the release of Pedro Le Dino, an explosive and organic EP, due late 2025 on Couvre x Chefs. With this new project, DJ Babatr continues to push the boundaries of his sound, weaving Techno and Trance influences into the relentless rhythmic intensity that defines Raptor House, and asserting his unique vision of contemporary electronic music more than ever. 

Conceived as a true collaborative effort with Couvre x Chefs, the EP brings together four tracks from Babatr’s old-school repertoire — composed in 2004 and long circulated only informally — which are being officially released for the very first time. To extend this dialogue, each track has been reworked by four artists affiliated with CxC, offering a renewed perspective on these foundational pieces. 

Featuring four original tracks and four remixes by BJF, Scarlett, Tévéa, and Tim Karbon, Pedro Le Dino stands as a vibrant testament to the ongoing artistic exchange between Caracas and the French electronic scene, while marking a new milestone in DJ Babatr’s ever-evolving trajectory.

Pressure is the third EP from Parisian DJ and producer BJF (@djbjf). It follows Iridescent and Uprooted, released in 2020 and 2022. A key member of the collective, label, and media Couvre x Chefs, BJF has released original tracks on several record labels (Lowup, Egregore, XXIII, Sacrilejio Records, Météo ) and a bunch of thoughtful edits. His productions have been played on Boiler Room, NTS, Rinse FM, Rinse France, Hör, BBC, Reprezent, etc.

Just months after the acclaimed Uprooted, BJF is back on the label arm of Couvre x Chefs with an explosive three-track EP ready to sweat clubs and shake festivals. Entitled Pressure, this one reinforces the style of BJF which he refines release after release: resolutely club percussive titles, punctuated with characteristic ad-libs, increasingly (re)worked vocals, and sharp melodies. On the percussion side, the producer from Greater Paris finely selects cuts with precision and reassembles to the millimeter the most boiling rhythms from the four corners of the planet. The result is by nature unclassifiable - post club, hybrid club, or global club - but promises to make everyone agree on the dancefloors of Melbourne to Saõ Paulo via Paris or Berlin.

Couvre x Chefs’ next release is an EP titled Cross Rhythm, the work of Parisian producer and DJ @anyoneID. After solo releases from Scarlett and BJF - and two compilations - this EP marks the label’s first publication produced by a producer outside the collective. Cross Rhythm consists of two tracks, “Gobelet Drum” and “Glass Perc”, remixed by CxC members Næja and Tim Karbon respectively.

Despite their anything but obvious affiliations, the tracks that make up Cross Rhythm show anyoneID’s ability to draw on his rich background as a producer, abstract his influences and convert them into unstoppable missiles ready to pulverize any dancefloor. Playing between darbouka tinged with Hard Drum, reinvented Afro House, technoid Trance, epic percussion and oppressive melodies, anyoneID delivers here two hybrid dancefloor bombs, without concessions and brutally unclassifiable.

"In music, a cross rhythm is a specific form of polyrhythm. It refers to a situation where the rhythmic conflict found in polyrhythms is the basis of an entire musical piece.", explains anyoneID.

Bio

Parisian producer and DJ anyoneID offers a range of captivating sounds. His hybrid music, resolutely powerful and club-oriented, sees him mix afro-house, Brazilian funk or reggaeton with electro, bass music and even trance influences. After releases for Nadsat (Because Music) and Blanc Manioc, productions for Bagarre, Yelle and XL Mad, anyoneID recently launched the duo Kass Kass Rizer with Asna, whose first EP was released on More Time Records.

Track by track

“Gobelet Drum” opens the EP with different derbouka patterns boosted by a severe line of kicks. After a break and a striking rise, trance flights add a dramatically festive dimension to the rhythmic combo.

During the endless build-up that constitutes “Glass Perc”, anyoneID progressively layers rhythmic layers, percussive patterns and other vocal samples, creating a state of relentless trance calibrated for the dancefloor.

On the remix side, Næja, who appeared for the first time on our compilation CxC Vol. 2, transforms “Gobelet Drum” into a minimalist deep dubstep attack tinged with breaks and roaring bass. “Glass Perc” is passed to the Tim Karbon percussive mill, which retains the tension of the original piece by adding an infernal burst of drums of all kinds, a trademark of the Montreuil producer.

Bait’s second VEP (Various EP) is a 4-track dive into a rather modern phenomenon: 150 dubstep, as DJs and crowds seem to be enjoying the faster bass sounds, yet broken rhythms and heavy halftime pulses. For this release, we’ve got L.A.’s rising bass-music talent Carré, who specialised in racing wobblers, and recently released her debut solo EP on her label FAW (Fast at Work). Track 2 is by UK-born Berlin-based Formella. This is the Femme Bass Mafia member’s first-ever release. The Third track is by Fast Castle label captain Gent1le $oul, also Berlin-based and pushing hybrid dubstep in the German capital with hot vinyl releases and parties. Last but not least, SPLT’s mental banger “Grill Party” that Beatrice M. happened to discover in Laksa’s Truant podcast and reached out after dropping an “ID?” comment on SoundCloud. The Lyon-based producer never misses, his tracks have been played out multiple times by Garçon and Agonis, in the continuity of merging bass and techno.

Data High looks beyond without losing faithfulness to his essence — and what better way to inaugurate our history of releases than with an album that synthesises and harmonises so many forms of plurality?

In Memoria Atemporal, a nostalgic air embraces the rhythm that runs through each track from a club perspective. And that club we're talking about here is mainly sustained by fragments that inevitably reveal a little of the history of Latin American electronic music throughout Data High's 25-year career — and, therefore, research. All of this, of course, is accompanied by the tropical warmth that the artist imprints like skin on the entire album.
