The third edition comes from NYC neighborhood guy, Andrew Devlin. The Level Party founder and resident found some time in between grill chats to cook up something special for us here at Doof Spawn. Some words from the big man himself, and a tracklist: 

"I followed one of my favorite DJs in the world, Beige, at our Glen Falls House weekend  this year. I’d had a really weird/stressful week (was convinced I had shingles) and along with probably 5 other reasons, the gig didn’t go according to plan. I was bummed, but it got me thinking about what kind of music I want to play. If I could do the gig over, what would I do? This mix is inspired by that, closing a party that’s chaotic and a little seedy but ultimately well-intentioned."

We like Ezio alot. In fact, everyone likes Ezio a lot - even Donato Dozzy, who chose to feature Ezio & his partner Hamish's (together they are Neotex) tune "Iridescence" within his closing set at Labyrinth Festival in 2023. Hallowed turf indeed. So, we definitely take great pleasure in featuring his first submission to the Doof Spawn.

Doof Spawn 009: Stoke City DJ - Rare moments of shared energy

"I had the good fortune last year of some time off from work, in which I was incredibly lucky to experience both @sustain-release-nyc & @mindgameslaby Labyrinth festival within the same five week period. 

Both festivals offer something wholey unique, but between them there is a shared NRG between the beauty of nature, futuristic thundering techno, and a reminder of how those two fit together for some strange probably in-built ancestral reason. 

So yeah, I thought it would be a fun exercise to try and build this mix around the two tracks that stuck out the most for me from each festival. 

For Sustain Release, it was Kassian - Replicate, as played by Cousin (@moonshoerecords) on the Friday night @ The Grove, for Labyrinth it was The Saddest Music in the World, performed live by @stanislav-tolkachev on the Sunday night. 

Enjoy this somewhat heady brew, and then imagine dancing under the moonlight in some far flung place, with the moon doing mystical things behind some clouds, and the trees swaying along just having themselves a good old time."

Doof Spawn 010: Matt Ticehurst - Halfway between Monticello and Minakami

Welcome to the world of Yard Man & Fog Dog,  two up and coming, deep digging, exquisitely tasted selectors spanning from Brooklyn to Delhi in New York State. 

With careers in film direction and editing, they have an innate ability to transport you into their vision of a foggy, iridescent dream space nestled in the green wonder of upstate New York. 

Here's what they had to say about their all wax submission to Doof Spawn: 

"Three hours northwest of the city, the Rainbow Ranch is getting foggy. My legs are tired from a bear walk in the woods. Gonna sit down for a sec. Forgot how perfect grass is. The house looks different from this angle. Not a home but a structure. One day, this will all be gone. Wish I could be there. A beautiful woman with saucer eyes hangs upside down in front of me, smiling. Is this my La Croix? I don’t know. She disappears. Towering blue trees bleed into a cotton candy sky, while the frogs tell each other stories from across the still pond. Oh lord, increase my bewilderment."

Music is important, but even more important is the community that enables moments of wonderful connection, in a beautiful place or space, with beautiful friends both old and new. Albert, based in Brooklyn, New York, is one of those heroes that never requests a spotlight, but is consistently dedicating time and care to contribute to some of the spaces and places that the NYC & Brooklyn house and techno community holds so dear. 

Throwing long standing and much loved parties like Bob & Shirley, working tirelessly behind the scenes at a festival that has garnered global critical acclaim, throwing down all night long at Mansions, or as an always welcome and smiling face on a sun lit dance floor, Albert (Ash) has been continuously refining her DJing craft, and we couldn't be more excited to share a slice of it with you for Doof Spawn 012.

A hypnotic, magnetic journey that we hope you will enjoy as much as we have.

"On the second night of the festival, a usually quiet Nordic forest hums with life. A slow, steady rhythm starts the set, drawing dancers into a hypnotic flow as the misty summer air lingers and the trees sway around them. Doof Spawn 012: Albert - A Nordic night in the woods

Ru's back with some squelchy low end frequencies and dubwise flavours. Nudging the BPM from 116 to 135, Ru builds tension through tempo and texture, with atmospheric intermissions as welcome relief from the bass weight pressure.

Some words from Ru:

"It's been 6 months since I moved back home to Sydney, after 3 years living in Spain and Melbourne before that. Though my time away was special and necessary, returning to my community has been equally inspiring. Many people find their place in the world away from 'home', and in some respects that's true for my experience too. But lately I've been riding my bike down Bourke Street, catching myself thinking 'damn, this place is so ridiculously dope’. It's a sensation that's often felt on the dancefloor too, knowing that this is exactly where you need to be right now. That's the energy I had when playlisting this mix — a respawning on home turf."

After hearing Billy's set at Pepperprint Music & Arts back in March, an invite to contribute his own Doof Spawn mix was imminent. In our most experimental Doof Spawn yet, Billy weaves his way through the wormhole, as a reflection of his own shift in musical perspective at Outsider Festival.

A few words from Billy Dublewicz:

This mix aims to capture the shift from morning to night, a slow psychedelic shift from ambient to movement. I first experienced this at outsider 2023. I was blown away by how different the experience was from anything I'd seen or heard before, the diverse range of artists and music moved me. I bought decks not long after that <3
