A story invented itself as I made this mix...in my head...this is what I feel when I listen to it anyway!: It’s dark, close to midnight, summer maybe 1984 and somewhere vaguely Mediterranean…Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece perhaps…?An fateful argument with a lover has left you sad, angry, lonely and you need to be truly alone and embrace these feelings of emptiness. You need to drive, drive far into the night to clear your head and an irrational urge to drive to the beach consumes you, irrational as the beach is hours away and it’s so very dark. As you drive into the night, only the crackle of the radio and the headlights in the road for company, loneliness starts to turn to contemplation starts to turn into hope, this might be ok, this could be a good thing… maybe? As the road winds itself into a forest, it getting pitch pitch black, but you can see a strange glow of light in the distance and as you approach you start to make out the shapes of bodies in the mysterious hazy light, moving, dancing, yes, dancing they are dancing, smiling, happy. Who are they? You feel strangely compelled to pull over and join them, and the music, it’s not like anything you’ve heard before, it’s warm, it makes you feel good and happy, they are your friends, in this moment you have forgotten it all, you are losing your self control…. you look up to the light....hold tight, don’t let this moment fade away…….
