Deceast continues the tradition of introducing new names to the bass music world with our latest
single from Edgewoode, a release that perfectly captures the Deceast vibe by blending funk with future leaning
techno influences. “Take It Slow” pulls the soul out of the machine with its prominent synth
melodies reminiscent of the purple sound associated with artists like Joker and Gemmy. Punchy, rap influenced
percussion and weighty bass let this one work on the dancefloors and in the headphones.

On the flip, “See You Again” is a slice of pure, unadulterated deepness. The vibe is in the same
vein as “Take It Slow” but with a smoked-out swagger that fills the track with head-nodding tendencies
from start to finish. The synth melodies take center stage on this track as well, proving that Edgewoode’s
musical abilities are just as well-honed as his sound design and engineering chops.

This is just the first taste of what Edgewoode has to offer and Deceast is excited to get more of
his music out into the world in the near future.

longtime contributions to both drum & bass and dubstep under his Mayhem moniker. As one of the

Atlanta producer Anthony Rotella expounds on his freshly-minted Edgewoode moniker. Following up his spring release for Los Angeles’ based Deceast, Edgewoode returns with two more originals and a remix from Embassy alumni Clicks & Whistles for a decidedly Southern release.

The release’s A-Side Damn! is a peak-hour track combining biting synth and organ interplay over a shuffling drum beat, a nod to the musical landscapes of Edgewoode and Embassy’s Atlanta roots. The flip-side features Freak!, employing a sparse, expressive arrangement that creates a soulful vibe reminiscent of classic g-funk era rap buoyed by an instantly recognizable vocal. Rounding out the release is a rework of Freak! by Charlotte duo Clicks & Whistles, who ratchet the original up in their signature style.

Edgewoode returns to Deceast for his second single on the label with two tracks of funked-out, 808-laden bass music. “Me x You” opens with sparse percussion and soft synth pads before the bass hits and a masterfully melodic lead takes over. Tastefully programmed 808 drums anchor the progression, with just enough hi-hat and snare workouts to fully represent Edgewoode’s hometown Atlanta influence.

“Ride or Die” brings a decidedly dirty south vibe with its razor-sharp horn stabs, booming 808 bass and skittering drums. Once again, Edgewoode’s music chops are on full display with another great, funky synth lead. This song easily fits in alongside a wide array of likeminded music: “Ride or Die” could be a lost instrumental from Outkast’s Aquemini sessions, a production by Dr Dre’s latest protege, or the
other half of a split single featuring Joker on the A side.

Both of these are well suited for the headphones, the club, and especially the ride. We hope you enjoy the music and can’t wait to share more from Edgewoode in 2013.
