The ever-prolific Kaelin Ellis is a rare gem of a musician. This album is full of the melodic and rhythmic sensibilities that has made Kaelin a respected and revered household name. With features that range from Duckwrth, Guapdadd 4000 and 2-time Juno Award winning rapper TOBi, to savant pianist Anomalie and RnB/Blues crooner C.S. Armstrong, "You Are Here, Start" covers sonic ground in ways only Kaelin can. There's a certain warmth to this project that wraps around you like the sun.

A-Trak cooked up another batch of raw SP1200 bangers and this 3rd installment is extra crunchy. Using the vintage sampler that helped define the sound of Todd Terry, Stardust and Kenny Dope, and working within the confines of its extremely short sample time, Trizzy went to work and concocted some gold. Whether it’s the insanely funky bassline of Like I Said, the hardgroove chugging of JustCantLive or the surprising techno bump of Jyeah, this EP is full of weapons. It’s obvious that A-Trak had a smirk on his face when he was cutting up those kicks and hats.

NYC's AceMo transforms "Callaté" into 90s house cut-up while rising producer and DJ Riobamba reimagines "Arquitecto" in the breakbeat universe. Venezuela's DJ Yirvin turns the energy up to 11 on his remix of "Ponte Aquí" while the UK veteran L-Vis 1990 puts a Dub spin on "Tiki Tiki Style."

Two of Seoul’s most buzzing DJs, Co.kr and H4rdy, team up for an explosive EP that seems to throw every style of UK club music into a blender, with infectiously fun results. The title track “Top Shotta” features Grime MC Logan_olm, who comes in after a completely unexpected guitar interlude and destroys the track. “Toma” somehow combines speed garage, baile funk, early dubstep and hard house, and it works. On “Serious”, UK MC NyNy rides a tom-heavy track straight into pirate airwaves. And “Check Ma Style” brings an upbeat, Hi-NRG vibe to the party. This whole EP is the result of Co.kr and A-Trak meeting at a gig in Seoul and the spontaneity of the project is palpable all throughout.

Last October, South African artist Muzi made his Fool's Gold debut with uMUZI, an autobiographical collection of music with vignettes of the artist's journey from childhood to fatherhood . In 2024, this project has been reimagined for the club with remixes from Dan Kye, Edd, Emmaculate, and monocolour, a brand new alias from Kyptogram. Multi instrumentalist Jordan Rakei, know by his electronic soul-jazz alias Dan Kye, delivers a remix that even adds his own falsetto vocals to “Queen” — an anthem that already featured Chris Martin (yes, that Chris Martin). Malta's Edd transforms both "Light" and "Queen” into tasteful tech house bangers. Chicago's Emmaculate turns fan favorite "Milk & Honey” (feat. The Last Skeptic) into a nighttime Afro house weapon. Kyptogram, who has been making waves with his project kypt. vol2, premieres his new monocolour alias with a huge remix of "Queen" complete with powerful synth lines and live percussions.

A-Trak has a long-established reputation for spotting talent early. His first studio sessions with Young Thug date back to 2013, when a pre-Rich Gang Thugger only had a handful of tracks on YouTube. Over the years they accumulated a stack of songs, and developed a real friendship, too. Finally ready to start revealing this material, A-Trak chose “Ride For Me” for its jaw-dropping (and possibly jaw-breaking) vocal performance. You’ve never heard Young Thug like this. His voice is elastic, self-distorted, at times barely human or intelligible, and at other times familiar and bouncy. As a turntablist and sound manipulator, A-Trak was entranced by Thug's shape-shifting. To round off the song, Trizzy brought in another close friend with an otherworldly voice, Atlanta’s own 24hrs, along with fellow beat innovator (and rising Fool's Gold star) Falcons on the production tip. “Ride For Me” is a speaker-busting rollercoaster ride that defies traditional song structure and will playlist your whole year.
