As we continue on our journey here at Futurepast, we are pleased to welcome a trio that, for many years, we felt shared our vision, Frak! From Sweden, Frak have been founding an original hardware-based sound since the 80’s, first via their own label Börft before collaborating with other labels over three whole decades. 
 
On their ‘Formless Obstruction’ EP, Frak have provided a window into the sinister twists and turns of their work. On the A-side, you see creeping Detroit stylings of ‘Scientific Bella’ set against ‘Wrong Owl’ with it’s EBM underpinnings and industrial inflections. On the flip, ‘Concentrated Feed’ bubbles next to the razor sharp ‘Capacity Faun’, both are filled with characteristic machine quirks and experimentalism.

FP006 I Frak - Formless Obstruction EP (Snippets)

Here is the ninth chapter of our podcast series, a new story told by @dj-heartbreak-berlin, committed record digger and music journalist based in Berlin.

For this episode, he wanted to refer to the classic tape format, therefore he imagined a two-sided mix. This meticulous blend of selected findings and oddities, features both the gloomy vibes and the hypnotic grooves that define Futurepast for him.

The first part takes you from the chilly shores of white noise and dramatic strings to the more electric and rhythmic lands of IDM and electronica. The second part is a progressive buildup of dub atmospheres and experimental beats, all finely sewed together to transport you in an alternative time.

Futurepast Mix 09 - DJ Heartbreak

This tenth episode of our mix series is an assertive collection of tunes from renowned references and reliable outsiders, seamlessly stitched up by a steadfast figure of Berlin’s contemporary techno scene.

In her typical reckless manners, @IreenAmnes takes us from the dark ambient textures of one of her own tracks to the glacial tension of Alessandro Cortini’s romantic compositions, passing by the timeless beauty of Autechre’s debut and Andy Stott’s haunted songs.

Time has come for Futurepast to release a long format album : Alarm Phase Red will be the first full-length work from Futurepast founder Davy Vandegaer, appearing here under a new name: Brainwashed Today. Rooted in a conceptual approach of electronic music, this double LP ranges from industrial ambient to experimental techno.

Like an antidote to a twisted reality of controlled screens and mental isolation, Alarm Phase Red uses the raw language of electricity to reach the core of the machine and sabotage it, reverse its effects by mirroring them. Fighting fire with fire, deflecting the pressure and strain of a world driven by fear and anger, the music of Brainwashed Today acts like a cathartic escape from technological enslavement.

With the purchase of the vinyl comes a batch of three digital bonus tracks pursuing further the sound research of the album.

FPLP01 I BRAINWASHED TODAY - ALARM PHASE RED

The new episode of our podcast series comes from @lowgravitysound: Technology and imperfection, raw and processed, so many concepts that lie at the core of Futurepast identity.

Low Gravity trained his mixing and production skills in the London underground scene, before he brought his sound to Rome where he co-founded @radiocircolo and Collettivo Sonico. As an enthusiast of electroacoustics and experimental music, he deploys his knowledge to sculpt the sound, and fuse elements from ambient textures, experimental and hypnotic rhythms.

The mix itself features tracks from essential pioneers Éliane Radigue and Suzanne Ciani, Brian Eno, revered sound designers and composers like Tetsu Inoue, Alva Noto, Pete Namlook or Robert Rich, and new coming talents like LF58, Grand River, and of course Low Gravity himself, with an unreleased track.

Although it has slipped from prominence in the current news cycles, Russia's aggression against Ukraine still continues to escalate.

As Ukrainian people are still in urgent need of support, we have come together using the only thing we know how, music.

We asked 21 artists from Futurepast's friends to create a track that keeps Ukraine's situation in mind and results in a compilation that is rather varied. We hear ambient and downtempo right through to more personal and abstract interpretations of techno.

All proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian charity, Voices of Children, who are supporting children who have lost their parents in this war; the poorest and most helpless victims.

Futurepast and Friends present 'Stand With Ukraine Fundraiser'

Futurepast mix 12 is a finely crafted collage of contemporary ambient gems and more unexpected oldies from an influential character of Brussels techno scene.

Having recently launched his own label efja, he is known, with his partners of the Metropolis crew, to be the ambassador of a richly textured sound, focused on progressive grooves and immersive textures.

Firmly based on solid references such as the timeless collaboration between Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, this mix features atmospheric sceneries and polar waves as well as skeletal rhythms and liquid dubs.

His EP “Kardama'' emerged as the winter of 2022 bled into 2023, a period where he’d actually been producing more downtempo works, so "Kardama" is his most recent take on techno; a genre he is certainly well-versed in with over 25 years experience. 

As a reflective work, De La Calle processes emotions and thoughts with analog methods, reverse delays and pedals on "Kardama". The emotions that he holds close to himself show up in the detail that sits deeper within each track. 

"I simply make music with the intention of feeling better" says De La Calle, "it is a therapy for my mind and for my spiritual state. Through a creative process, I feel calm and useful for the world and for myself."

Premiere: Eduardo De La Calle - Son Of Sri Ranchor [FP007]

Alejandro Romero who released on the label last year offers a trip-hop mix under his Alias Ópalo.

Ópalo is an Ecuadorian project which tends to produce in an experimental way, using drum machines, keyboards and synthesizers. The imagination comes from the history of a wolf who denies to be part of the system he is imposed on.

Ópalo’s first impression with the alias was to be more conceptual and in the process he realized a history was being told. It gives place to music he has loved since college, like Massive Attack, Tosca or Kruder & Dorfmeister.

The idea behind the mix is to put together the most representative tunes of the trip-hop genre. Especially the kind of music released in the 90’s. The selection tends to tell a story of danger and romance. Also its rhythm is influenced by Jamaican sounds, dub, reggae and elements from the hip hop scene like scratching vinyl sounds. The interesting part of the sound is that it’s very futuristic even though it’s kind of old school.

‘’My productions can’t emulate the sound of the 90’s ,but I think they’re very influenced by them.’’ says the artist.

Familiar from Futurepast 6th vinyl EP, released in 2021, Johan Sturesson and Jan Svensson this time decided to reveal their reassuringly lyrical identities with a genuine chord. Showing pictured personalities along the rhythm as well as their unspoken inner secrets. Each one of them as the protagonist of the characterised atmosphere in their own meandering experience. First 30 minutes are full of realistic depictions, exploring the reflection of the creator Johan, seamlessly linked to the last 30 recorded by Jan, both combinedly created to be read as art. Two pieces of authentic hearts transmitted in our confidence.

After building overwhelming anticipation with our Alternative Earth series, we are announcing a new release by 2001 Space Odyssey.  

The EP titled "Goodbye Ziegra" seamlessly fuses timeless elements of slow hip-hop breaks and techno rhythms with neo-soul chord progressions, while venturing into the realm of modern sound synthesis.

2001 Space Odyssey is an improvised electronics trio based in Berlin which aims to progressively blend sub genres of electronic music, such as: idm, hiphop, bass, breaks, techno & ambient with the organic sounds of acoustic music.

Their approach to creating music stems from jazz, as their ideas and arrangements arise from an improvised performance, where they use synths, hardware machines, & acoustic instruments to empower each other’s musical visions by giving them a new context.

Each member of the trio hails from a different musical and cultural background; fusing post-Soviet electronica, western European jazz, and latin American rhythms. Their differences come together through a common passion of exploring the boundaries of music. 

The result of this combination is a project which is malleable to different genre critics as well as diverse musical settings. This harmonious fusion creates an intriguing auditory experience that is sure to captivate the hearts of music enthusiasts.

Embark on a transcendent voyage through downtempo realms where time slows and melodies whisper from another dimension. Belgium artist Kato de Vidts is back with another forthcoming release on the experimental imprint, Futurepast. No stranger to us here at Delayed, we’ve kept a close ear to her productions and even had the opportunity to watch her and J.Noon perform live at Mostra earlier this year. Aerial Super Highway, their latest collaboration together, marks another strong release in the pair's auditory journey.

Tensions are rising, the string-like synths grabbing the attention of all present. Meridians evokes an introspective journey upwards as the melodic drones and undulating bass lines build and build to a crescendo long in the making before fading away back into the nothingness.

Meridians and the remainder of Aerial Super Highway will be released on the 1st of November.

For our next Futurepast Podcast, we are introducing Timo Bres, founder of Lowtape, the first collective to revive the 90’s rave spirit in Belgium. On a new creative journey with Disc0punk, Timo Bres is now merging modern beats with the avant-garde vibes of early ‘80s synth-wave, crafting a sound that feels timeless yet forward-looking.

In this set, Timo takes us on a deeply personal journey spanning three decades of music. It begins with a haunting introspection rooted in post-punk and experimental electronica, where subtle darkness and sonic warmth intermingle. Dylan Hayes' album debut (LP), We Don’t Own, We Create, released on Futurepast, is a sonic trip balancing club functionality with experimentation. The two-discs project is a bold statement of artistic intent—where minimalism, industrial textures, and introspective loopy moods collide. 
As the result of 8 years of research and experimentation, We Don’t Own, We Create is an electronic sci-fi odyssey, unfolding across eight tracks balancing structure with unpredictability. Co-produced and mixed by Davy Vandegaer, this album is also the story of a friendship rooted in a shared vision—crafting a signature ‘futurepast’ sound where old-school techno aesthetics meet fresh, yet edgy, sonic treatments.

The first disc unfolds like a waking dream. My Ikigai sets the tone with pulsating, introspective club energy, blending loopy synths and a growling bass. Plastic World plunges into eerie depths, weaving spectral vocals and fragmented rhythms. Silent Reverie in To Memory drifts through textured atmospheres and layered percussive echoes. Remind Me Ridley twists hypnotic techno into a dense, mantra-like piece—its reverbs and delays build an intensity conjuring into a foggy, shifting auditive illusion.

The second disc marks the awakening, shaking off the haze with Beautiful Struggle, where abrasive loops, industrial bass surges, and dissonant synth layers build tension. Echoes of Fate condenses the album's ethos, unleashing pulsating stabs and humming rhythms that slice through the mix with razor-sharp precision. The eponymous We Don’t Own, We Create is an electronic ode to the creative process, where haunting vocal loops weave through deep, trippy synth lines, blurring the boundaries between organic and synthetic. Closing on Mizze, the journey dissolves into pure introspection, fading into the ether.

The record balances four club-driven tracks and four experimental pieces, crafting a distorted, explorative soundscape—an immersive journey where dance music meets dark, avant-garde sound design.

Dylan Hayes' album debut (LP), We Don’t Own, We Create, released on Futurepast, is a sonic trip balancing club functionality with experimentation. The two-discs project is a bold statement of artistic intent—where minimalism, industrial textures, and introspective loopy moods collide.
As the result of 8 years of research and experimentation, We Don’t Own, We Create is an electronic sci-fi odyssey, unfolding across eight tracks balancing structure with unpredictability. Co-produced and mixed by Davy Vandegaer, this album is also the story of a friendship rooted in a shared vision—crafting a signature ‘futurepast’ sound where old-school techno aesthetics meet fresh, yet edgy, sonic treatments.
The first disc unfolds like a waking dream. My Ikigai sets the tone with pulsating, introspective club energy, blending loopy synths and a growling bass. Plastic World plunges into eerie depths, weaving spectral vocals and fragmented rhythms. Silent Reverie in To Memory drifts through textured atmospheres and layered percussive echoes. Remind Me Ridley twists hypnotic techno into a dense, mantra-like piece—its reverbs and delays build an intensity conjuring into a foggy, shifting auditive illusion.
The second disc marks the awakening, shaking off the haze with Beautiful Struggle, where abrasive loops, industrial bass surges, and dissonant synth layers build tension. Echoes of Fate condenses the album's ethos, unleashing pulsating stabs and humming rhythms that slice through the mix with razor-sharp precision. The eponymous We Don’t Own, We Create is an electronic ode to the creative process, where haunting vocal loops weave through deep, trippy synth lines, blurring the boundaries between organic and synthetic. Closing on Mizze, the journey dissolves into pure introspection, fading into the ether.

Thomas Gram delivers an introspective and daring mix, a sonic journey shaped by 20 years of musical exploration. Moving fluidly between ambient, techno, breakbeat, dubstep, and jungle, the set unfolds like a living collage. Despite its wide scope, it maintains a sense of balance throughout, held together by a delicate blend of organic textures and electronic depth.

The mix dives into lower tempos and sub-layered atmospheres, pulling the listener into a shadowy, almost subterranean world. Shifting rhythms and evolving structures invite a focused, embodied listening experience, one that challenges without ever losing its emotional thread.
Refined through 21 iterations, this is a deeply personal selection that reveals Thomas Gram’s uncompromising approach and passion for experimentation. Futurepast Mix 23 - Thomas Gram

For our next Futurepast episode, Marijn Ottenhof - visual artist, composer, and DJ - conjures a slow-burning, sensorial journey. An hour-long descent into the fog. 

Her mix unfolds like a ritual, beginning with grave, ambient textures that whisper of dystopian futures. This is not just a set, but an invocation: down-tempo, incantatory, and soaked in heartsleeve drone. Edging between experimental electronica, leftfield techno, and haunted soundscapes, each transition caresses the unconscious, titillates the senses, and awakens something primal.

Off-kilter percussion and subtle, mental grooves carry echoes of artists such as Katatonic Silentio, Significant Other, Catarina Barbieri, or Konduku, among others. With a roadmap of darkness-to-dawn, the set leans into emotional complexity: pain as transformation, rhythm as healing. 

From cerebral dance to somatic trance, Marijn Ottenhof crafts a space where the body follows the mind - slowly, completely - into a kind of witching hour fugue state. 

An atmospheric, ritualistic offering. Enjoy.

Futurepast Mix 24 - Dystopian drive

Pastige presents a mix that abandons linearity in favor of a world of textures, a collage of sounds unfolding like a series of rooms. The set is immersive and spatial, where sound becomes architecture.

Shifting between unease and open soundscapes, the mix resists settling. Echoes of trip-hop, touches of post-rock, and bursts of distortion appear, but genre gives way to mood, intuition, and atmosphere. 

Acoustic and electronic elements blend into a kind of sonic meditation in a very immersive way. Hints of nature, ritual, and the occult surface through textured layers, giving the mix a shifting, otherworldly feel.

This project follows loose threads rather than a fixed structure, covering a lot of ground in just over an hour. Its freeform layering invites repeated listens, each time revealing something new.

A guided descent into the in-between, tactile, cinematic, and quietly spellbound.

This Futurepast episode opens in pure film-noir fashion: smoky, enigmatic, and charged with tension.

At the turntable is Aton : DJ, producer, and vinyl obsessive for over a decade. Recorded during his warm-up for Zel at Ohm on 19.06.25, the set moves through downtempo electro and raw analog grooves, infused with warmth and record crackles. 

The mix opens with cinematic restraint, not just a collection of tracks, but a carefully paced dialogue between room, records, and instinct. From intimate atmospheres to more industrial pressure, it’s a slow burn with depth, warmth, and intent.

Dmytro Filatov’s project is a radical exploration of sound: raw, uncompromising, and performance-driven. His work moves freely between musique concrète manipulations, club-rooted rhythms, and synthetic intensity, always pushing towards extremes.

With a background in diverse collaborations, from electrodub to spoken word processing, his solo sets focus on existential and sonic self-discovery. Subbass pressure, meditative states, and sudden dives into horror define his approach, where freedom of form is essential.

This podcast is Filatov’s first, built entirely from his own unreleased material created over the past year. Ranging from almost-generative synthetic experiments to live-tested tracks, it reflects the variety and spontaneity of his process. Written with his trusted Elektron Digitakt, Model:Cycles, and Ableton, the set mirrors the live energy he values most: space for improvisation, breaking structures apart, and reassembling them with intensity.

Expect unbalanced sounds, distortion and an uncompromising journey into Filatov’s sonic research.

Amsterdam-based DJ, radio maker, and sonic researcher Elina Tapio brings her signature world of dark atmospheres, psychedelic rhythms, and mystical textures to the Outsiders series. Known for her cerebral sets and her work on Scrying the Landscape (Mutant Radio) and axia maxim (Echobox), Elina explores sound as a form of storytelling, each mix unfolding like chapters in an unseen book.

For this session, she takes a more uptempo path while keeping her aesthetic of obscurity intact, weaving evolving layers, cinematic moments, and textural elements that build toward a hidden conclusion.

For this edition of the Futurepast podcast, we welcome Synthbiont & Anassimandrus, the ambient / experimental / dub techno project of Nicolò Faggiani and Tommaso Gobbo. Formed in late 2018, the duo merges digital and analogue processes, processed field recordings, and sampling to sculpt immersive soundscapes rooted in texture, movement, and atmosphere.

“Experimentation is always at the core of our process. We start with organic sounds and environmental textures, mostly field recordings we collect ourselves in different places and moments.”

The mix unfolds as an exploration of identity and intuition, a dialogue between tribal rhythm, granular synthesis, and spatial depth. Their sound has been shaped by both familiar and unexpected influences: Spekki Webbu, Sarah Wreath, o.utlier, Astral Industries, Adrian Newgent, and the collective energy of Modem Festival.

Opening with one of their unreleased tracks, the set carries the raw momentum of their upcoming album work, a hypnotic drift through sound and transformation, where each layer resonates with motion, memory, and change.

Wing-Fi is the long-standing collaboration between Andrew Claes and Dago Sondervan. Our new Futurepast Podcast features Riet, a Brussels-born DJ now based in Berlin, exploring sound through risk, restraint, and atmosphere.

This mix grew from tracks that felt unsettling at first - sharp, acidic, unfamiliar - records collected over years but left untouched. By mixing more slowly than usual, Riet allows each sound to reveal itself, giving space for tension and curiosity.

Rooted in the quiet mystery between autumn and winter, the set echoes misty walks, darkened days, layered silhouettes. Clubs turn into temporary shelters, afterhours blur into memory, and strange moments unfold in the shadows.
