Rekord 61 - Razbeg

Rekord 61’s first release of 2015 is the strident ‘Sverh’ on his own Konstruktiv imprint, backed with 3 remixes from Radio Slave.
Previous Rekord61 releases have picked up impressive support with the likes of DVS1, Efdemin, DJ Spider and Anthony Parasole waxing lyrical about the Russian producer’s, real name Alexander Babaev, output.
Here, Babaev drops three hypnotic and strongly melodic techno cuts that flow from the tonally light (‘Sverh’ and ‘Prosvet’) to percussive and introspective (‘Raskat’). Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave delivers three remixes of ‘Sverh’ that manage to walk the fine line between DJ tools and versions in their own right.
Radio Slave’s ‘F.Y.N Remix 1’ draws on the essence of Daniel Bell, combining a sparse drum track with occasional ‘sverh’ vocal while ‘F.Y.N Remix 2’ kills the kicks completely and favours saturated bleeps and ominous atmospherics. ‘F.Y.N Remix 3’ continues the distorted motif but pairs it with pin sharp and powerful drums.
A release that is sure to be deployed in multiple variants due to it’s jigsaw-like aesthetics, Rekord61’s ‘Sverh’ b/w Radio Slave remixes is released Jan 19th on Konstruktiv.

This next release on Konstruktiv follows on from the super special vinyl version of the Radio Slave remixes and comes from BuRu. It features three original tracks and two remixes and is another winning package. Up first, Fist is a scurrying, rusted techno cut with firm drums, groaning synths and lots of lo-fi texture. Others is then a more syncopated beat with rattling bell sounds, rubbery kicks and a real sense of propulsion before the final original Curfew, really ups the ante and is a slamming, subliminal tech cut with forceful drums, gravelling bottom ends and heady sine waves. The remix of this one from Nauruan Stranger is a more housey affair with rollicking drums that rock back and forth and have some trip synth injected into their bones. Then the famous Rekord 61 runs out a fine version of Others that is full of high pressure drums, nervy vocal stabs and intense synths. This is another fantastic package from Konstruktiv that proves the label really does know its house and techno onions.

The “Zum Acid EP” sees the Austrian DJ/producer take on the 303 heavy genre, with added tropical and cosmic twists.   As the relaxed bleeps of title-track “Zum Acid” echo out over a bed of humid broken beats, both pace and temperature are set for a voyage to the lesser-explored edges of the acid world. 
While the title-track feels like a stroll through the jungle, Rekord 61’s remix is its jeep speeding counterpart. The Konstruktiv boss stamps his foot down firmly for a fast, driving and decidedly techno rework where reverberated white noise rises punctuate the storyline.   
Second original track “Underbron” takes us on a spaced-out rocket trip to the confines of the universe. A spellbinding synth line leads the way as hands and minds extend out for a touch of cosmic bliss that slowly slips out of reach.   
Nauruan Stranger finally turns the lights down on “You”, with slow tribal drumming, soothing synth work and carefully controlled acid outbursts… But if Nauruan Stranger's last track is the return to planet earth, BuRu are the kids that want to go for one more ride. The Finnish duo, formed by brothers Ilkka and Mikko Ihalainen, turn their drum machines on and bring the EP to a close with a blinding and exhaustingly effective rework of "You".

Moderna is straight shooting techno, hard-hitting with hints of rolling funk and a bleak contrast to the sun-drenched Portuguese setting that saw its inception.

The synth stabs of EP opener Moderna steadily rise and open up, driving the track forward while low-slung drums keep the beat in check. Label-boss Rekord 61 drops in on A2 with his remix of the title-track. The original stabs take an aerial backseat and a compact beat powers through vapor and wear.

Trilha Acida sets things straight from the first second on the flip. A threatening acid line pummels the listener with mechanical consistency while a startling chord rehearses a monosyllabic monologue. Black Jocker, the fourth and final cut closes on a dystopian note, with austere drums and a dark souvenir triggering arpeggiator.

Moderna is released exclusively on vinyl, February 1st 2016.

Robert S (PT) - Moderna (Rekord 61 Remix)

The latest release from Konstruktiv comes from KVD in the shape of the Outerspace EP.
 
The Parisian producer gets straight to business with opener Outerspace. Full-bodied and hard-hitting, the EP’s title track is a relentless stomper held together by an agitated synth line and tension building strings.
 
Remixes from Konstruktiv label boss Rekord 61 and Sergey A.M. follow suit. Surroundings shrink, sound expands and the air grows thick and humid as Rekord 61 takes Outerspace into vicious territory. The second remix sees the resident DJ of Moscow’s Propaganda Club strip the track down to an atmospheric and groovy core.
 
Rolling beats, hypnotic sound-design and raw intensity return with Meteor and the vibe remains fast-paced and powerful all the way through the last seconds of EP closer Dark Matter.
 
Konstruktiv and KVD deliver the goods once again. Outerspace is released digitally on March 7th 2016.


KVD - Dark Matter

Berlin-based label Konstruktiv return with the 1999 EP from up and coming producer Kevin De Vries.

Making waves since turning 18, the young German artist is set for big things, with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Marcel Dettmann, Adam Beyer and Chris Liebeing showing support for his music. 1999 takes the form of one original track and three hefty remixes courtesy of label founder Rekord 61, Konstruktiv regular Kitkatone and Italian producer Shkedul.

Kevin De Vries justifies the hype with title track 1999 (Rave Mix), a straight up rave banger. A dirty acid line pulses in an out of focus, disappearing only to erupt back onto the track. Fast, powerful and a hugely effective dance-floor weapon. Hypnotic and on a slightly techier tip is Rekord 61's remix. The Konstruktiv boss kicks off in hazier territory luring the listener into a false sense of security until an acid loop kicks in with a forceful smack to the face. Kitkatone’s take on the track is in keeping with the Finnish producers' style of no-frills, dark, intense techno and rounding off the EP is Shkedul who drops an implacable heady monster. Dark, gritty and a bespoke fit for paranoia-inducing sets.

1999 drops April 4th on Konstruktiv.

Kevin de Vries - 1999 (Rave Mix)

Redefined is the latest EP to come from the studio of Portuguese artist A Thousand Details, the project of Reaktivate Records boss Gustavo Lima. After a first release on Reaktivate with experimental duo Sturqen, Lima joins the Berlin-based bastion of Konstruktiv for the Redefined EP.

Opener Sycophant Blues comes out all guns blazing. Relentless in its delivery, a distorted loop brings the game straight into uneasy territory. Konstruktiv head-honcho Rekord 61 is next up, reworking the track with colossal amounts of bounce and swerving percussion work, never failing to impress and deliver on the remix front.

The second half of the EP boasts two dangerous dancefloor weapons. Rome Is For Romans is a deep and musky tool, all in muffled kicks and grey-scale nervosity. EP closer Patronising takes the form of a techno vortex of gnarly shoulder-shuffling tribalism and peak-time tension.

Redefined is set for release May 2nd on Konstruktiv.

A Thousand Details - Patronising

Berlin Techno Imprint Konstruktiv is back with another electrifying release this time from young deejay and producer Oleka. Already pioneering the Techno sound in Bosnia and Herzegovina with releases on labels including Planet Rhythm, Newrhythmic, Tic Tac Toe, and Credo. Oleka (real name Dragan Lakic) doesn’t disappoint with 3 original techno cuts made for peaktime.

The Obliteration EP begins with the title track and its designed to do just that – obliterate! Rekord 61 plays with the percussive bell elements in the original and turns it into a drunken arpeggio which moves and morphs throughout his remix.

The third track Insculp again has fierce bottom end and pounds your chest from the opening bar and then the modulating lead synth enters towards the back end of track and brings that jaw dropping moment.

Finishing off the EP is Rach a killer opening groove complimented by a syncopated bassline opens up towards the middle with sustained lead line which creates a beautiful piece of mysterious techno music.

Olēka  - Obliteration (Rekord 61 Remix)

‘Message From Space’ EP is Monolyth’s debut on Konstruktiv. The Italian-based artist first touched decks at the age of 15 and has been hooked on music ever since, producing dark and dismantled techno. The labels where he’s previously released include FLASH, Mephyst, Abstract Mechanisms and Labrynth. On his newest EP, Monolyth brings us a message from Space, reminding us that we don’t need to be astronauts to travel through galaxies as long as we are on the dancefloor.

‘Solarus’ kicks off like a comet whose tail lights up the dark skies with growing distortion, deflects metal particles with the clinking sounds of hi-hats and then burns away in a cloud of smoke.

Rekord 61’s remix of ‘Solarus’ is powered by solar energy, so its drum kick pulsates at the speed of light and its melody motive wavers like a flame, until it all suddenly disappears.

‘Alfa Centauri’ transmits signals of acrid synths right into the center of the triple star which emerges above the dynamic, dense mass of drums and immerses into the groove again, like a shadow into the dark.

The remix of ‘Alfa Centauri’ by STRICS. stripped most of the percussions and created the backbone of the track with a maddening, flat synth beam, putting the celestial music in a playful dissonance. With its sound palette of beeping noises and old school cinematic sounds, it evokes the sci-fi movies from the 1960s. 

‘Message From Space’ EP will be released on December 5th via Konstruktiv.

After releasing on labels like voxnox, ARTS, FLASH, Voxnox Records  and Etruria Beat, Berlin-based DJ and producer Alignment joins Konstruktiv for KONSTRUKT026, delivering ‘Anxiety’, a 5 track EP full of emotion and intense techno beats.

The EP unfolds through 5 tracks representing 5 stages of human emotions, depicted either literally or figuratively through words and sounds.

Anxiety starts off with visceral and cold rhythms, setting up the mood of the release, while Convulsions comes to accelerate the pace with industrial like pounding kicks which feel like sonic convulsions, all the while you can sense the ominous presence of ghostly cold vibes in the background. Contemplation brings balance with a more abstract, almost ambient sound, only to switch back to stomping beats and immersive dynamic drums on Bunker, recreating the sound of a warehouse rave. The EP closes with bleeping noises and heartbeat-like bass lines on Isolation, almost like in a need to switch off from the world.
