We recently returned to one of our favourite festivals in the world, Meadows In The Mountains out in Bulgaria. We played a couple of sets while we were there then watched the sunrise surrounded by beautiful souls. This is a recording of the first set. Hold tight for the second set, we'll be sharing it soon.

This is a recording of his Sunday night set. Easing in with some housey Disco before taking a trip through some Italo and into some full psychadelic Disco towards the end.

Oscar Kingsley has been roller skating since he was a child. In 2020 he discovered rhythm skating (roller dance) which re-ignited his passion for a wide range of music outside of the Disco and Funk he'd become known for playing as London Disco Society. 

As a resident DJ at the infamous Flipper's Roller Boogie Palace, Oscar was part of a cohort of DJs trying to expand the sound palette enjoyed by the London skate scene. House music has been a foundational sound in the US rhythm skate community for decades, with a lot of rhythm skating originating from Chicago, the home of House. House is now a big part of the London skate culture thanks to all of the skate DJs that have been pushing boundaries with music over the last few years as the culture has grown rapidly.

For Oscar a skate rinks provide what nightclubs used to before the over commodification of dance floors. There's a presence on a skate rink that means everyone is in tune with one another, much like a school of fish moving as one. Oscar has now become a regular on the roller skate DJ circuits with previous residencies for Flipper's, Roller Nation, Sk8 of Minds in London. He now plays at Bump in Bristol where he now lives and continues to push musical boundaries.

Flow State is a series of mixes for roller skaters, beggining with a House mix. Skate House is not a seperate genre as such, it's just House with a specific groove or bounce. Rather than describing it, just listen, feel it and enjoy moving to it.

Our third year in a row playing at Standon Calling in Kid Fiesta's Groove Garden. Every year this festival gets better and better and this year was no exception. We closed the Groove Garden on Sunday night after Crazy P on one of the best quality sound systems we've ever had the pleasure to control. The crowd were pumped and full of love, a sea of new and old faces. Possibly our favourite festival set of all time and that feeling definitely comes across in the music. If you were there much love to you. x

Mexican Disco-House adventurer and co-founder Deep Sense Juan Vargas already boasts many years of experience as a DJ and counts an increasing career on his back playing in the top clubs of Mexico and some others out of his country. 

Over the years of his career he was running many residencies, working as booking manager and music director at different venues of his hometown.
His DJ sets are remembered for his mixing technique, dynamism and also a great musical selection taking you on cruise of a wide variety of moods and genres with essences from the Soul, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Afrobeat, from Disco to House. We did our first show in Barcelona recently and invited our friends Love Come Down to join us. Listen back now to the full recording.

Our first ever show in Barcelona was set to happen at the super cool Atipico warehouse/roof terrace venue. However the day of the event we were notified the venue had been shut down by the council and police. Thankfully Barcelona is full of lovely helpful people, a big thank you to Carlo from Atipico, Alexis from Tropic Acid and Joel from Love Come Down for helping us find a new venue. We took over an area of Tropic Acid at Cafe Del Mar. We curtained off a corner of the terrace that was being used for storage. We emptied it, set up a soundsystem and put a huge mirrorball in. It turned out to be a great little purpose built Disco dungeon.

Welcoming Manchesters Lizzie Simpson aka REETA to the LDS GuestMix. Lizzie is a DJ who is fast making a name for her self on the Northern Disco circuit.

From an early age, REETA has fed her musical soul and soles on a varied diet of genres from the soulful grooves of the 70s to the grittier sounds of the early 80s New Romantic movement. The rising star has in a few short years managed to rack up a sizeable number of notable residencies and appearances at the likes of Lost In Music, Defected Croatia, Sankeys, Beat Herder, District 8 and most recently Gin & Disco festival.

Her talents and her penchant for the sounds of times gone by don’t stop at the decks, Reeta has releases out on Fingerman’s Hot Digits label and One Fold Records - bringing forth those classic sounds of the Discotheque into the present and we also look forward to seeing what the future holds for the this bright Disco Queen.

Stephen Titmus is a music journalist and DJ from London with nearly two decades of experience. His enviable record collection touches on a broad spectrum of soulful sounds. Edition 016 see's us bring forth Belfast based, Brighton native, Hot Digits label boss and long time inspiration to us - Fingerman.

Gregg Holmes aka Fingerman has been one of the most dedicated re-edit masters to our knowledge. Since our inception as a little gathering in the upstairs of Shoreditch boozer 8 years ago, we have avidly collected his reworks, re-edits and more recently his newer original productions on his label.  Without a shadow of a doubt, he had a profound effect on us at the beginning of our foray into playing Disco - introducing us to a barrage of old music, previously unknown to us, all touched by his masterful style creating extensions and more DJ friendly versions of some classic tracks and lesser known rarities which are either hard to get hold of, or lets face it, just a pain in the arse to mix due to live drum and percussive elements on the original recordings.

His work is regularly praised for by two of the most influential figures within the edit scene - Dimitri From Paris & Greg Wilson (who has consecutively charted Fingerman edits on his Credit To The Edit blog for the past 5 years - and even released a few on his A&R edits imprint)

Over the years, we've kept an attentive ear to Gregg's sounds and have witnessed the development from his early days up until the present, its been a great process to listen to and also watch reactions to his material on the dancefloor too, having witnessed the man himself play on the same stage at us at Locomotive Disco in London and also for his mammoth annual street party in Brighton for Pride Festival with the Get Down Edits guys & Jay Ru (check his Soundcloud for the extended recordings of these events)

LDS @ Encore (Brixton Disco Festival)

Summer 2019 saw LDS invited to launch the Nile Rodgers curated Meltdown Festival at the Southbank centre with a stage takeover on the terrace over looking the Thames. An absolute honour to have been invited and a real joy to perform for a audience that were well and truly up for it.

On Saturday 29th of February we celebrated our 8th Birthday with party of course. The crew did a big old back to back to back and it was a lot of fun. Big love to the Locomotive Disco and Oslo Hackney teams for helping to make it happen and of course to all the dancers that joined us.

The London Disco Society 8th Birthday @ Oslo Hackney

On March the 7th we were invited to support Colleen "Cosmo" Murphy (@colleen-cosmo-murphy)and Francois K(@fknyc)for the first of Cosmo's Cosmodelica series in Brixton. Little did we know it would be our last night out for a long time. It was the only party of the series that went ahead, we're sure there will be more in the future but for now enjoy the recording. x

Welcoming Monsieur Van Pratt to edition 018 of the LDS GuestMix.

Label boss of @superspicyrecords MVP is a self-taught  Mexican, musician, DJ/Producer that infuses the grooves from the late seventies disco, eighties funk and jazz which claimed  him a place in the Traxsource's Top 100 Nu-Disco artists of 2019.

A regular face around Mexico, Monsieur Van Pratt has toured several cities throughout his homeland sharing booths with major names from around the world including James Richardson (MGMT), Thris Tian (Boiler Room), Jupiter, Thieves Like Us, Vagabundo Club Social, Hotmood, The Funk District, Mike Simonetti, Gledd, Clubz and Shiro Schwarz to name a few.
