Straight out of Matlock comes Patawawa a trio whose blend of blood-pumping beats, glittered guitar riffs and bass lines that bite results in irrepressibly infectious DIY disco. Hailed by the NME as sounding like "if Calvin Harris time-travelled back in time to Studio 54" with "hints of early Foals and Two Door Cinema Club" and by the Guardian as cooly radiating the sound of "peak-period Nile Rodgers/Bernard Edwards or early Madonna", the band have already scored a huge international hit with their collaboration with French producer Ted Cazey clocking up more than 4 million plays on Spotify alone.

A succession of singles for new French imprint Splinter in 2017 have seen the band cement their position as one of the most exciting new acts around earning support from the likes of BBC 6 Music and leading to brand hook-ups with the likes of Adidas, H&M and Abercrombie & Finch and now the band are getting ready to drop their debut EP, 'Bedroom', titled for the humble space where all their songs have, to date, been written and recorded. DIY disco trio Patawawa are back with 'Fight Me', their first proper single since their debut EP, released in January, which saw the band tipped by the likes of NME, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, top the Hype Machine charts for over 5 days and earn support from the likes of Tom Robinson and Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music & plays on Radio 1 with Huw Stephens.

Much like their EP's lead track 'Patagonia' which hid a song about anxiety inside an upbeat glitter dusted disco number, 'Fight Me' similarly smuggles a song about fighting addiction into what, at first, appears to be a love song set to massive synth riff, a party starting beat and impossible to not sing-along chorus.

Determined to show that you can both tackle serious issues whilst making the kind of music that is almost impossible not to dance to, the band's critical acclaim and increasingly busy tour schedule would suggest that it's a trick they are currently pulling off with some style.

Having earned comparisons to a bewildering array of other artists from Chic to Madonna, Two Door Cinema Club to Foals, 'Fight Me' sees Beth, Rory and Sam further refine and define their own sound and in the process cement their position as one of the most exciting new acts around in 2018.

Patawawa are the latest act to team up with Dutch Boogie dons Kraak & Smaak for their burgeoning Boogie Angst imprint! 

Their bouncing new track ‘Wires’ will feature on the forthcoming Boogie Angst compilation ‘Edition Two’ and serve as the lead single ahead of the full collection’s release in December.  Hailing from the small town of Matlock in Derbyshire, they specialize in funky pop indie jams with more than a small sprinkling of disco. Think the catchiness and songcraft of Chic crossed with the cheekiness and instant likability of Chromeo and you’re in the right ballpark.
