Personal Best Records are proud to announce their inaugural release "Born On The Wind" by Holiday Sidewinder & PBO will be released on Friday August 15, 2014 via Personal Best/MGM.

"Born On The Wind" is an airy, ethereal track that straddles indie-pop, dance and neo-boogie, with hints of Kate Bush wafting through its production, which filters and juggles Fairlight and vocal samples with skittering guitars and a prominent rolling synth bass line.

After the disbandment of Bridezilla in early 2013, founding member and vocalist Holiday Sidewinder re-located to London and not long after was approached by PBO to lend her unique voice to the track that would become "Born On The Wind".

Just before last Christmas, Sidewinder was given a small gift; the only ring from her Grandfather to her Grandmother, inscribed with these words, giving her an incredibly rare insight into the intimacy of their relationship, especially considering she has only ever known them to be separated.

The title for ‘Peachy Keen’ is based on a retort from the character Rizzo in cult classic Grease - “Peachy keen jelly bean”. Inspired by sounds from the Smashing Pumpkins’ Adore era, Moody Beach combines elements of gothic-rock with synth-pop to create a contemporary indie track with a Y2K grunge edge. Guitar lines transition from raucous to pizzicato, live drums are layered over electronic backbeats, synthesisers add a buoyancy to the harsher elements of the song, while Melissah Mirage’s intimate vocal speaks of surrendering to the light and shade of love.

Sydney electronic duo The Goods release their debut track "Strong Man" with Personal Best Records.
Bringing a sound that bridges the gaps between spaced out funk, wonky R'n'B and low-slung house, The Goods flavour is both wild and eclectic yet sharply focused.

The pair behind the music - Boris Bangaltar (Jarrol Renaud) and Rosario D'Awesome (Rosario Ferraro) are both well known players in their own right, having toured or recorded with artists like Omar, Touch Sensitive, Daniel Merriweather, Dereb the Ambassador, George Maple and Porsches.

Merging a Hi-Gloss aesthetic with just the right amount of chaos and emotion, UK singer Pretty Mess releases her debut single “My Anatomy” this week on Personal Best.

Written while in Australia last year with producers Michael di Francesco (aka Touch Sensitive) and Josh Beagley (Personal Best), My Anatomy is an irresistable  pulsing and surging slow-mo groove, with hints of 90’s r’n’b, future phunk, Prelude-y disco and gurly emo pop.  Replete with sounds from the rare 80’s Roland JX8P synth (which was fundamental to Janet Jackson’s early classic hits!), they lay down a seriously shoulder shaking groove to underpin Pretty Mess’s deep throated and deep minded vocals.

Combining the raw and the smooth is fundamental to Pretty Mess’s philosophy and musical aesthetic. She tries to explain what she’s about…

“Pretty Mess is exactly what it sounds like - my attempt to harness chaos and possibly create beauty, or at least a collective pop joy - from a slightly wild untamed inner psyche which battles with the dichotomous struggle between pursuing individual difference or mass acceptance. Or…. less seriously….as the late lamented Minneapolis chanteuse Vanity sang in the song which inspired my name - “he made such a pretty mess on my chest!”  Interpret that as you will…you can take the high road or the low road…..Basically I am a pretty mess!”

Fast becoming vital members of Sydney’s rising soul / electronic scene is The Goods, here to share their new single and video “Make Your Move”. Out via Personal Best Records, “Make Your Move” welcomes the return of vocalist Black Tree, who appeared on last year's cut "Ninja Trolls" and today debuts as an official member of the band. Together with the absorbing beat and hypnotic melody, “Make Your Move” is an invitation to dance.
 
Blurring the lines between disco, funk and low slung house, “Make Your Move” progresses on The Goods’ already unique sound. The video accompaniment is a narrative of a night out in Sydney; inspiring a feeling of random fun and mischief. Newest member Black Tree joins founders Boris Bangaltar and Rosario D’Awesome in their sprawl of the town.
 
Bangaltar and D'Awesome are each players in their own right, having previously toured and recorded with artists including Touch Sensitive, Daniel Merriweather, Dereb The Ambassador and George Maple, while Black Tree, a familiar face on the Sydney music scene, has toured as backing vocalist with Ngaiire for Listen Out festival, Wave Rock and Beyond the Valley and has most recently performed with Adele. Collectively, the trio are unstoppable.
 
In 2016, The Goods released their debut self-titled double EP, which was a compendium of songs split in two, one side Bangaltar’s direction, the other D-Awesome’s. As a result, the 12-tracker delivered a steady stream of hip-hop, space funk, low slung house and soul, and left supporters unable to decide whether they paralleled Outkast or were Gorillaz’ successors. Featuring on the EP were triple j and community radio supported cuts “Nightlife” ft. Bruce Hathcock, “Ninja Trolls” ft. Black Tree, “Only One” ft. unKle H and “Strong Man”.

Their incredible live show has shown support to the likes of Onra and Oddisee, graced the stage at the award winning Vivid Live Festival and will support Winston Surfshirt at their upcoming sold out single launch. With a new single and video dropping today and a forthcoming EP due out later this year, The Goods are ones to watch in 2017.

Introducing Sydney’s dreamiest new talent Moody Beach (Melissah Marie), who today debuts her new single and video titled “Vanilla” out via Personal Best Records. Taken from her forthcoming debut EP and premiered via triple j & Pilerats, “Vanilla” is drenched in shoe-gaze guitar and washed out vocals. Moody Beach enlisted Capital Waste to bring "Vanilla" to life visually, and the video nails 90s nostalgia taking you right back to Saturday morning Rage sessions, circa 1997.

Starting out as a bedroom project, Marie knew she wanted to record her songs and make them “tasty” but was unsure how she could execute them in a live setting. Intrigued and enticed by performing, she started playing bass guitar in a band called The Rememberz, which consisted of live shows, a short stint in America and plenty of hotel room recordings. Whilst doing this she was also working as a flight attendant and spent time travelling to different cities from which she drew influence from. With plentyof downtime, a craving for songwriting and a consistent change of surroundings, she found herself in a constant outpour of songwriting and so, Moody Beach was born.

After moving from Adelaide to Sydney, and wanting to find more spaces to play live & develop her sound, Marie began curating Cult Club; a quarterly party held at Hair by Tommy J, a local barber shop near her house in Redfern. Cult Club prides itself on showcasing emerging artists from Sydney's underground who play to a crowd no bigger than 100, and is one of the spaces where Marie solidified her Moody Beach project.

She began work with producer / musician Carl Fox (Mosquito Coast, Porsches) who produced the EP and helped define her sound. With influences ranging from Roy Orbison and The Cure to Deftones and Blondie, Moody Beach is unexpected and original, layering dream-pop melodies, dark undertones and hazy psychedelic guitar lines. Vocally, she creates a unique synthesis of sound using Warpaint-esque tones and enigmatic lyrics.

“Vanilla” is the first offering from Moody Beach - with her EP already recorded and shows lined up for March - 2017 is looking bright.

Following her two impeccable releases, debut single "Vanilla" and most recent cut "All I Do", Sydney artist Moody Beach unveils her highly anticipated debut EP Moody Beach, out August 4 via Personal Best Records.

One of this year's brightest new acts, Moody Beach aka Melissah Marie, tells all in her blissful four-tracker. While each track is a stand-alone stunner, together they make for 11 and a half minutes of some broody-sweet listening. Her debut single "Vanilla" instantly setting the mood with it's 90s riff and shoe-gaze vocals. "All I Do" comes next, in a hazy continuity of neo-psychedelia. A tempo change is introduced with "I Should Exercise" with an absorbing slow-fuse, and once more with "Hawaii", a Best Coast-style love song, rich in texture, bringing the EP to an emotional end.

Premiering via Complex UK, "Glow" transfixes the listener right from the onset, setting an enthralling pace. A deep, hypnotic groove floods the airwaves, consuming the listener in a blend of funk, RnB and soul, with their own signature stamp of spacey electronica. While the mood softens momentarily for a psych-infused bridge, it quickly picks up to an all-familiar beat – a much-welcomed return for the talented trio.
 
“Glow” is the band's first single after signing with Niche Productions, the prestigious booking agency behind acts like Winston Surfshirt, REMI, Oscar Key Sung, Hiatus Kaiyote and Slum Sociable. Lifted from their forthcoming EP Make Your Move, set for release in October this year, “Glow” follows their recently released single of which the EP gets its name. Physique is the brainchild of Andrew Elston. Showing a knack for producing super groovy dance music, Elston has made a name for himself as a true hero in Sydney’s dance music scene as a founding member of critically acclaimed house group The Possé. Making his debut back in 2015 with a new moniker, his following two releases “You Say” and “Same Mistakes” were firmly entrenched in Indie radio with both tracks making FBi Radio’s most played list in 2015 and 2017 respectively. 2018 saw the return we’ve been waiting for with latest single “All-Nite”, named “A genuinely authentic disco track” by Stoney Roads, “More and more addictive every listen” from Pilerats and “His freshest and funkiest track yet” by AAA Backstage.

Recorded at Tony Visconti’s Dean Street Studios in London and mastered at Abbey Road, the all killer no filler eight-track album features previously released singles “Casino”(lauded by Rolling Stoneas a “cocky, glossy blur of pure hedonistic glam") and unapologetic thot-bop “Leo,”which saw Sidewinder heralded as a millennial Madonna for her poptastic and triumphant reclamation of sexual agency. Hailed as a “global pop sensation” (Paper Mag), “a shining light in the darkness” (LA record), and “a blinding force to be reckoned with” (Purple Sneakers) Holiday Sidewinder has arrived with a lusty, powerful debut driven by shimmering synths and classic late-night disco beats.

“Forever or Whatever is my 20s in a hot little bonfire,” said Sidewinder. “I set out to write fearless cult-classics—bouncy and thrilling and hooky AF—that you’d pick on a jukebox or lose your shit to at 3am at a wedding reception, or maybe shed a single tear, headphones on, looking out a window on a fast-moving train in the rain. I wanted songs you would have stuck in your head all day, so you’d have to sing “Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I got Love In My Tummy” just to get them out; songs that would force me into a good mood every time I performed them. I wanted to offer liberation to the listener, through smashing and exploring my own ideas about relationships, monogamy, wealth, poverty and patriarchy. I threaded personal depth amongst the fairyfloss and fantasy by channeling very raw, rough and outrageous experiences through a sometimes intentionally kitsch musical escapism—and it helped. I got flippant, instead of precious. I got existential and didn’t GAF. I took myself way too seriously, then considered myself an absolute joke. If it made me laugh, I kept it in the recording. I wanted it all or nothing at all, whenever, wherever like Shakira, never ever like All Saints, and mostly forever or whatever. I funded the album entirely through sales of my worn satin panties and, well, that’s something isn’t it!”

Sidewinder has rapidly amassed a dedicated following from her jaw-dropping live show, with appearances at Pitchfork Avant-Garde Festival Paris, SXSW 2019, and US tours with Mac DeMarco and Alex Cameron. The love child of a teen actress and a set builder, who can claim Sia as her childhood babysitter,  Holiday Sidewinder is natural-born entertainer. Her shows have included everything from strutting around seated crowds at an Opera House in a silver bikini to serenading Bradley Cooper from a bar-top at a secret New York City show in a seedy, underground club.

Yes Confection are back with a new single "It's So Long (Since We've Touched), taken from their upcoming album. It's their first release since their second album "Private Conversations" was released in 2012, following up from their seminal self-titled debut "Confection" in 2007.
