A legendary figure within the underground dance scene, Savvas has been involved in electronic music for three decades. A veteran of the DJ circuit and a production career dating back to a 2011 debut, the Greek artist has been a familiar sight on the likes of Anjunadeep, The Purr and 3rd Avenue. A trio of remixes for Proton Music have seen reworkings of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and GMJ as Savvas now releases his debut EP on the label with "Reminisce".

A sonic triumph with a beautiful melodic narrative, the title track lilts enticingly along its 9-minute journey with a delicately flowing lead line. Beautiful piano phrases add to the sonic tapestry as breathy vocal and complementary motifs create a stunning work. A rolling rhythmic groove and deep kick provide the backdrop for "Momentum" to continue the rich melodic atmosphere as free-flowing lines and subtly plucked guitar themes resonate gently. Through a beautiful combination of counterpoint phrasing the track oozes class and craftsmanship. Characterised by a glorious broken beat rhythm, "Reflections" harkens back to a bygone era of progressive breaks as sublime melodies flow, juxtaposed to a chunky rolling cadence. Full of delicate touches that evolve and blossom over the 6-minute piece, the track hypnotises with a repetitive sonic beauty that culminates in a powerful woodwind sequence post breakdown.

A Proton Music newcomer, RIGOONI is a much sought-after name. After a 2018 debut, the Brazilian artist quickly went on to see his music signed for a host of blue-chip imprints. February 2020 marked a notable highlight as "Serenade" appeared on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, swiftly followed by remixes for Meanwhile, Particles and the beautiful "Petrichor" as part of "Anjunadeep Explorations 17". Supported by the DJ elite of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Warren himself, the RIGOONI remix of "Reminisce" is a gorgeous interpretation that glitters around a light percussive backdrop and thumping kick. Making intelligent use of original components, new melodies flow from the seeds sown by Savvas into emotive new sequences and mesmerising patterns. Pausing for breath at the breakdown, additional chord progressions ebb through the third movement to create a distinctive and breath-taking new remix.

An artist with a rich musical heritage to his name, Vridian combines elements of melodic techno and deep house to create a vibrant and distinctive sound. A recognised DJ across his Indian home, Vridian's production career has seen him sign his work to such celebrated labels as Manjumasi, Qilla Records and Dream Culture. Returning to Proton Music after an impressive 2020 reworking of Soulwerk, Vridian initially swaps the chunky broken beat of Savvas' original with a subtle rolling groove and subterranean kick. Building elegantly, a shimmering breaks pattern enters the fray as an immaculately syncopated bassline sits perfectly between to create a sublime dub sound. As the free-flowing melody of "Reflections" meanders through proceedings, gently pitched dub keys pitch effortlessly into the second half to create an innovative sound.

A musical triptych combined with remixes from RIGOONI and Vridian have given Savvas plenty to "Reminisce" about.

A welcome returnee to the Proton Music fold, Savvas Karabinos, has been a regular on the flagship label since a 2019 debut remixing Turkish star, Erdi Irmak. Two further remixes for Rick Pier ONeil followed in 2020 and 2021 before a debut original EP appeared in the shape of February 2022s 3-track Reminisce including remixes from RIGOONI and Vridian. A second EP followed a year later with Crescent Moon as another trio of powerful original tracks were paired with remixes from Juan Deminicis and Andrea Cassino. Now returning with another musical triptych, Craving Spaces is redolent in the rich sonic landscapes of textured pads and dreamy melodic passages. Underpinned by a heavy beat and huge sub-bassline, haunting motifs sit atop creating an air of elegant juxtaposition against the hypnotic rhythm. As the seasons shift from late summer to another Northern Hemisphere autumn, Falling Leaves enthrals with its subtle melancholy of light melodic touches following the narrative of its predecessor. Immaculately cadenced synths are used to develop a swathe of cascading musical ideas while textured pads create a vivid sonic landscape. A driving beat and ticking percussive hi-hats add to the picture in another moment of rare beauty. The final track sees We Are immediately carry on the mantle of driving rhythmic force combined with perfectly placed deep house chords and floating chord progressions that swim across the stereo spectrum. The delayed vocal effects and vibrant arpeggio of a post-breakdown second half creates a dynamic and powerful track. An Australian artist with an impressive reputation within the underground dance fraternity, Patrick Carrera has been at the vanguard of progressive, organic and deep house sounds for over a decade. Through his MUUI moniker, over 500 production credits thus chart a path across such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, Global Underground and Eelke Kleins Outside The Box, plus a further 300 credits on his own Here Now. A trio of remixes for Proton Music dating back to 2014 and a reworking of Kobana, have seen subsequent rerubs of Imran Khan and Mark Slee in 2019 and 2020 as MUUI returns for the first time in over 4 years. Reimagining Falling Leaves, MUUIs skill is create a silky-smooth version that retains the laid-back melodic groove of the original while creating a rhythmic foundation that retreats elegantly into the mix in the early phases, while a deep and resonant kick drives the track forwards. Making full use of Savvas original components a raft of additional production evolves in the second half including a sumptuous twinkling arpeggio and vocal touches, creating a triumphant remix. Based in the capital of the Ontario province, Beije have carved out an impressive niche from their Toronto home. Able to point to a double century of production credits on the likes of Harabe, Café De Anatolia and The Purr, a pair of Proton Music remixes for Juan Deminicis and Lisandro in 2022, paved the way for 2024s remarkable Ardere EP in August 2024. The 3-track original EP was chock-full of masterful production technique and trademark melodic touch, showcasing the Canadian pairs inimitable style and craft. Now returning for a third remix, Beije have captured a delicate dancefloor groove with the muted and cadenced chords that fill the melodic spaces of the original. Moreover, the addition of diaphanous and free-flowing piano phrasing at the mind-point and through the third movement adds a subtle and delicate touch to proceedings, completed further by subtle vocal effects. The result is another stunning Beije production. With the addition of immaculate remixes from MUUI and Beije, Savvas has found that Craving Spaces is the perfect way to showcase a trio of exceptional new original works. Our Reflection Volume 1 brought together Sander and Vander and was followed by beautiful and dynamic collaborations between their respective communities, Horde Paris and The Gardens of Babylon Amsterdam.

Volume 2 brings together two veteran DJs, our head honcho Cross End and master craftsman Savvas, respectively based in London and Greece.

"Shiki" is a very special piece, the very first head honcho Cross End releases on Crossings. It is a constantly evolving story, which blends Japanese strings and synthesizers with dynamic drums and a solid baseline – a complex mixture of melodies and dark elements.

"If Only" is equally complex. It is a melancholic and dreamy piece, with a loopy and hypnotic baseline and beautifully crafted, constantly evolving, pads – a mesmerizing emotional journey.

Originally part of the "Winter Particles 2019" in February 2019, Savvas opened the compilation with the glorious "Mindfulness". Now the melodic techno offering is given its own release accompanied by a brand-new original track and remixes from UK and Russian producers.

Savvas Karabinos has been at the heart of Greece's underground dance scene for some years. Hailing from the home of US house, the Chicago born artist has carved out a sizeable niche for himself with a swathe of open-air parties a plethora of releases on some of the finest imprints. Thus, Anjunadeep, Manjumasi and Nie Wieder Schlafen have all played host to the Savvas name. In addition to the title track, "The Lost Kingdom" is characterised by a clave-led percussive groove forming the foundation for a hypnotic arpeggio sequence to sit intelligently alongside the rhythmic foundation. Building in intensity, a rich and reverb-laden motif makes its presence felt, particularly at the stripped back breakdown, before blending with metronomic rhythm in the second half.

Fresh from the superlative "Organik" EP on Proton Music that included remixes from Barry Jamieson's Mono Electric Orchestra moniker and Irish legend, Silinder, Imran Khan returns to Particles after success with his "Arrival" on "Winter Particles 2018" and subsequent full release with remixes from Hot TuneiK and Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat. Remixing both artists in October 2017 and August 2018 and a Dante Pippi and Demitros reworking in November 2018, Imran Khan returns with a wonderful progressive house interpretation of "Mindfulness" that ripples and shimmers with contemplative prowess. Reinventing the central themes of Savvas' work creates a new melodic variation that percolates through the seven-minute track with skill and craftsmanship. Hitting its stride with richly textured pads that build to a denouement in the multi-faceted breakdown, Khan's remix is a work of sonic beauty.

An artist who has continued to gain prominence and traction through the course of 2019, Russian born, Izzet, began his production career in 2010 with initial work signed to NewBorn Records before going on to feature on a clutch of impressive imprints in the intervening decade. As such, releases on Clinique, Proton Limited and Liquid Grooves saw Izzet make his mark before "Summer Goodbye" hit the Particles catalogue in January 2019. Remixes from Bluum and Malbetrieb contributed the success as he built on his growing reputation. Now returning, Izzet treats "Lost Kingdom" to a wonderfully textured reworking that pulsates gently through sumptuously layered pads and cleverly programmed rhythmic interplay. Making clever use of a sympathetic arpeggio sequence that resonates with Savvas' original, the second half opens up in glorious manner to create a typically impressive production from the Izzet studio.

New music plus remixes from Imran Khan and Izzet finds Savvas successful in the here and now with his "Mindfulness".

Greek-based, Chicago-born Savvas is a producer and dj. Way back in time, Savvas came in contact with electronic music in 1992, discovering his preference and talent for deejaying he soon started playing around clubs and open-air parties since the late nineties. He joined forces with Vasilis Giouvris aka Yosebu in 2000 and under the name Acropod they released their first album on Klik records and a few singles and remixes on labels around the globe. 
Nowadays Savvas on his personal path on music with the same passion he had and still has for music, he keeps experimenting with different kinds of sounds and rhythms and starts releasing singles to expand his musical style.
