Our soundsystem heritage is never far from the releases we put out but this one is straight up fire for summer bass-bin bashing. Four tracks of bashy carnival business released on August 19th right on time for Notting Hill.

Ghosttown hails from London with over ten years as a producer behind the scenes for artists including Foreign Beggars, Jehst, Task Force, and J Dilla-associates Frank n Dank. His new Dead Players Club collab with MCs Dabbla and Jam Baxter is gaining a lot of attention on the UK underground. Parly B is one of the UKs baddest new dancehall and roots MCs, recently found rocking Glastonbury with Mungo's Hifi and Reggae Roast. He's featured on several Senseless releases in the past including the recent Sarantis LP.

The four tracks blend up bashment, roots and hip hop influences to cook up a unique sound clash, from tough, insistent dancehall style riddims on Demacall and Tightest Summin through to bashy hip hop on the title track Every Manor. The EP finishes up with Wickedest Sound that balances bouncing hip-hop drums on the intro with a dubwise drop that references classic dubstep and digital dub.

The video is filmed by Leeds-born, Berlin based Rob Blake (robblake.tv). Shot in London and Berlin he takes the track's twin themes of girls and cities and lets his stop-motion imagination run wild.

Born in East London during the summer of 2013 Equals are James Low and Ade Omotayo. Drawing on influences ranging from UK bass and garage to modern classical James’ sparse, hypnotic production offers the perfect counterpoint to the raw power and emotion of Ade’s voice. Ade developed his talent as a vocalist relatively late, starting when he was 17 on a whim to impress a girlfriend. He quickly realised singing was what he had to do and set out to forge a career, catching an early break in a covers band with Amy Winehouse. After she was discovered Ade stayed with her, contributing vocals to her albums and singing backing vocals on tour throughout her whole career from pubs in Camden to the main stage at Glastonbury. He’s since gone on to work with a galaxy of other stars including Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Kindness and Quincy Jones. 

James took a different route, through a series of hardcore and rock bands arriving at electronic music through Ruckspin, the Leeds based producer for Submotion Orchestra and part of Author on legendary dubstep label Tectonic. 

‘Single Soul’ the debut EP on Senseless showcases three original tracks, starting with ‘Pyre’, lead by a colourful wash of synths set against with a UK-bass inspired two step drum pattern and deep sub bass, Ade’s vocals building and dropping to a dramatic climax. ‘Trap’ is more minimal, combining skeletal beats with gently swelling piano, synths and layered vocals and the EP title track ‘Single Soul’ is a love song, referencing both classic soul and new R&B with simple finger snap percussion and low pads allowing a heartbreaking vocal performance to shine through. Killer remixes of ‘Pyre’ come from XXXY (Rinse FM/Ten Thousand Yen) and new London duo Screens.

Neon#2 comes from Napo aka 17 year old Leonas Reckus from Lithuania. The four tracks showcase a major new beat-making talent and pave the way for a full EP in early 2014. We're excited to welcome him to the Senseless family. 

Living up to the Neon namesake these are four colourful slabs of synth lead electronics inspired by the colours and excess of the eighties but not taking any obvious audio cuepoints from the decade. From the bright bounce of Golden Tracksuit to the soulful electronics and beautiful expanses of Rio De Laska and Surf In Queue this EP is packed with energy and restless creativity. Soak it up.

First seen on Senseless with a deadly release on Neon late last year Napo joins label mate Boyfriend in the Lithuanian corner of the roster. His widescreen, expansive beatmaking hints at years of experience behind the desk when in reality he's still just 17. Already though he's played at his home country's renowned Satta Outside festival as well as internationally and released a series of acclaimed free EPs. 

For this, his debut full release, he delivers four choice cuts of finely crafted drum machines and intricate synth work with influences pulling at the edges of R&B, rave and deep house. Touch Formed channels old school pads building through a roller coaster of twists and turns, equal parts Lone and Ridge Racer. The track also comes complete with an CGI cityscape video that’s a perfect fit for Napo’s cinematic approach to making beats. 
Moonset Reality is programmed from rave DNA with vocal snatches and deep chords giving way to breakbeats and 808s programmed in a 2014 style. FRWRD and Loners take things deeper and more introspective, showcasing his amazing ear for melody. 

The icing on the cake is a guest appearance from High Focus's Jam Baxter, underground hero of UK hip-hop who delivers a short, sharp tongued blast of his signature macabre wordplay over 'Loners'. It's the perfect juxtaposition connecting genres, countries and decades, Senseless Records style.

Under his alias Boyfriend, Lithuanian Vytis Gruzdys is no stranger to making serious waves with his energetic mix of tropical-inspired rave destroyers. Here under his own name he goes down a different road, more like the one he showcased on 2012's Zebra Katz x Boyfriend collaboration on Senseless, since streamed over 1.5 million times around the world. These four tracks slice up shards of hip hop, grime and analogue synth work to create something for the club and the iPod. 'Stay Gold' is a lush analogue instrumental with shades of early grime meeting acoustic drums. 

'Reach for More' features Baltimore MC Rebel Conscious sounding half way between Soul Sides and Kendrick Lamar. 'Untitled' is a dramatic, cinematic piece of hip hop which has already been snapped up for the soundtrack of upcoming feature film, 'We Will Riot'. From the opening bars of ‘Bright Lights’, it’s clear that Lisbon brothers Bruno  and Leo aka Octa Push have redrawn the parameters of their sound. They’ve developed the elements that defined their breakthrough releases and expanded them to develop a broad, exciting palette of new sonic textures and colours. Their early releases on Soul Jazz, Fabric, Enchufada and others expertly balanced  UK bass and African influences to catch the attention of high profile fans like Thom Yorke, SBTRKT and Gilles Peterson. Setting them apart from the crowd were an undeniable ear for melody and a percussive sensibility drawing on the polyrhythms of African music. On ‘Oito’ their debut LP they’ve taken those two elements and worked them in to twelve compelling tracks that marry the organic and the electronic as well as underground music from Europe and the African continent. 

The album takes the sub bass and syncopated rhythms of UK genres like garage as its starting point but once again filters that through a kaleidoscope of influences, mainly stemming from Portugal’s unique cultural ties to Africa. The brothers share a family history in Guine Bissau, growing up in a house full of African masks and stories. Unlike previous work they’ve worked to infuse the album with musical references to music like Nigerian Afrobeat or Funana from Cape Verde without overtly sounding like the music itself. Re-contextualizing instruments like Kalimbas or Xylophones and playing with complex rhythms gives their music a richness without them ever sounding like copyists. 

The album also marks and expansion of their work with vocalists, starting on track one with Alex Klimovitsky from the Portuguese/USA group Youthless. After meeting on the Lisbon scene the brothers clicked with Alex and began work in earnest on the album. He’s now a mainstay of the Octa Push live show, lending his skills as a vocalist, programmer and multi-instrumentalist. The three tracks featuring Alex, ‘Bright Lights’, ‘Francoise Hardy’ and ‘Splendor’ balance great songwriting with intricate vocal layering and melodic work that was only made possible by such a close connection between the three artists. 

Elsewhere we find Sasha from Berlin’s pioneering Jahcoozi who have carved out a distinctive niche on labels like Ninja Tune, Kitty Yo and BPitch Control over several albums. They’re known for looking to other cultures for inspiration so this was a perfect collaboration, ‘MyShare’ blends Sasha’s sharp stream of consciousness delivery with a deep, melancholic melody and synths that nod towards South African Kwaito. 

London based Catarina Moreno is a name to watch with early home recorded demos gaining huge support. This is one of her first electronic collaborations and the result is stunning with her soulful delivery riding a percussive riff, cutting through clouds of white noise. The final collaboration is with Braima Galissa, one of the best kora players in Guine Bissau. The complex melody of that traditional intrument is woven in to ‘Ali Dom’ along with Galissa’s powerful vocals conjuring up the perhaps the most vivid non-European image on the LP.

The instrumental tracks are all equally powerful, from the bright bounce of ‘Glimpse’ through uplifting energy on ‘Afroinscope’ and on to Afro-inflected d&b on ‘Would Be Mice’. Closing track ‘Tamu’, which means sweet in Swahili is just that, a glorious ride out of the album on a wave of computer game arpeggios and the final perfect meeting of that signature melody and percussion.

Single out Feb 17th with remixes from Molo [The Playground] & Sunless 

'Please, Please, Please' is the second single from Octa Push's acclaimed long player 'Oito'. Featuring evocative vocals from Catarina Moreno over a warm, shimmering slice of marimba-lead house the track is already a favourite on national radio in their native Portugal. 

The video by UK based team IDoublesI is a twilight zone version of the shopping channel with exploding mannequins, eagles and flaming shampoo. The perfect multicoloured wake up call to a grey January.
