South Rakkas Crew launches another missile that makes me want to ride the explosion and bathe in the fallout.  SRC producer, D-Rakkas, fuses Reggae Dub, Dubstep, Ska, a little Trap and Hip Hop breaks to create the deceptively hype Soundboy Dead Riddim. 

D-Rakkas & Ryoko are on some passive Soundboy killing with the lead song.  They just let the riddim ride... wait for it... then Ryoko proclaims, "The Soundboy Dead By Now," brilliant!

Jamaican Dancehall artist, Rage, appears again after his annihilating delivery on the SRC/WdG collaboration, New York!  This time he’s issuing a “Warning,” against Babylon’s persecution of the marijuana smoker.

Finally, in a rare South Rakkas move they bless us with the Riddim (Instrumental). Woo hoo!  I imagine there are going to be a lot of versions, mash-ups, and remixes on this one.

South Rakkas Crew is celebrating 10 years of great music; from Reggae/Dancehall to Jamaican flavored Electro, House, Moombahton, Dubstep, Trap, and a bunch of other good stuff.

In 2003 we released “Clappas Rhythm” on Greensleeves/VP.  This first record brought us international acclaim and I can’t thank our supporters enough.  It has leaded us to a long list of releases independently as well as through record companies like: Sony, Universal, EMI, BMG, Mad Decent, Germaica, Avex, and P-Vine/Blues Interactions.  We’ve remixed some of today’s hottest artists including: Tinie Tempah, Lily Allen, Tricky, Good Charolette, Shakira, Fallout Boy, MIA, Deerhoof, Diplo, Lil Jon, etc.  As a result we’ve toured all over the world, worked with a lot of great promoters, agents, DJs, venues and rocked out with thousands of great fans.

In 2013 there will be tons of new EDM, along with a Germaica Digital all-European artist roster on “Clappas Rhythm.”  We start touring in the spring and will touch every continent in the world, rinsing Clappas, all our latest, and the hottest dance floor killers.

BIOGRAPHY

D-Rakkas spent his youth as a charismatic, party-starting DJ (“Rakkas”
is in fact a local West Indian slang term for “rockers” music that he  used to print on his DJ flyers to indicate his parties’ music policy).  The concept for South Rakkas Crew first hatched, though, when he moved to his current home base in Orlando, Florida to manage Riprock n Alex G Ent., a company that, at the time, was a crucial part of ‘N Sync’s production team.  There, D-Rakkas conceptualized SRC to satisfy his creative need to fuse his love for electronic music with Jamaican culture.  D-Rakkas’ first album, “Clappas,” quickly proved a major island and European smash, earing SRC the moniker “The founders of Electro-Dancehall.”  Jamaican and non-Jamaican audiences alike quickly grew to appreciate SRC’s talent for fusing hook-laden song structure with sound-system destroying beats.

XLR8R recently praised South Rakkas for their “boundary-pushing” powers: indeed, these futuristic rhythm killers can’t be held down to any one sound or style.  SRC can flex from Beenie Man and Bounty Killer one moment, T-Pain the next and then on to the likes of M.I.A., Lily Allen, Beck, Duran Duran, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Shakira – all of whom have been touched by South Rakkas’ edgy studio savvy.  It is this same approach that has made international DJ D-Rakkas such a sought after talent for clubs and festivals all over the planet. When beat king Diplo put out South Rakkas’ Mad Again and The Mix Up EP on his Mad Decent label, the blogosphere proved unanimous in its praise: Prefix raved about Mix Up’s “production perfection.”  The Washington Post gave it an extremely rare A+ rating, while Thom Yorke was dropping the Boy 8-Bit mix of “Mad Again” during his guest deejaying on Gilles Peterson’s BBC radio show.  Trip-hop titan Tricky chose SRC to remix his entire West Knowles Boy album, garnering rapturous press.
