Track four of the EP The Elemental Concoction. This is probably the bravest track as it doesn't have any drum beat, nothing but the swaying rhythm from the roar of an open fire that morphs and pounds. It sounds like a harsh roasting and it shoots out sparks well. All together it has it's own beat with the timing of a flickering flame.

Like staring at a fire, I find this one quite hypnotising.

The good recordings were from the open fire and getting cracking and crackling sounds from burning leaves and twigs in the yard. I tried filling balloons with lighter gas and putting a flame to them, they were visual effective, but too much like the air sounds I had recorded.

The 3rd track from the EP The Elemental Concoction. After being pounded by heavy hard drums, Airsong is an empty desolate wasteland. But there is warmth in the wind, and something a little unnerving at the edges.

I had some fun popping balloons, and recording an air rifle. But all other wind all sounds very similar, but has subtle differences. Bringing everything down and leaving plenty of space felt the best way to really experience the subtleties.

This is the 2nd track on the EP The Elemental Concoction. You will recognise the rising synth from the previous track. This is all big drums and harsh synths. 

Everything you can hear is a sample from one of my unique recordings of the earth. Some are in a purer form than others.
 
The Drums were mainly taken from recordings of stones dropping onto dried compost. The synth were a blend of mud splats, boiling mud and pouring mud into a bucket.

It has a lot of energy. I think it represents the Earth element as something chaotic, relentless and a force to be reckoned with.

This is from the EP The Elemental Concoction. After all the elements compositions had been completed, a layer was taken from each, and without much more than a little fading in and out, a new song appeared. 

Of the combinations available, this is the one that felt as though it flowed the most  effortlessly. In some ways it is more than the sum of its parts.

This is the culmination of a long project to gather the natural sounds that are been around us, and have been made on this planet as it has evolved over the last 4.5 billion years, and to represent them using modern techniques.

Some sax put through a distortion amp and some more sax in echo and reverb chambers, spurt some it through a synth, add some heavy bass, a dash of drone and a slow heavy kick beat. 

Throw in a tambourine, and it all comes spilling out in a sinful mess.

Apart from the bass, drums and tambourine, all the other sound is made out of saxophone.

It sounds like you shouldn't do this kind of thing to a sax. But I like it. And I should probably be ashamed of myself!

Radio active water. Tritium oxide or Super Heavy Water. 

Tritium is an isotope of Hydrogen. Here the nucleus has one proton and 2 neutrons, whereas common Hydrogen only has one proton. The other stable isotope of Hydrogen is Deuterium, that has one proton and one neutron.

Lots of natural water sounds.. Ended up sounding radio active!!!

So I wanted to change up Yet Another WaterGong.

After trying a few things out, I started again, but kept the track settings the same. Things moved in a different direction.

This inspired me to go back and do a WaterGong Remix...

I like the energy of WaterGong, but I wanted to try to pull it all into place. Bringing out the drone and playing with the overtones seems to add something different.

All the stems are the same, except for the new drone. I've faded things in and out a bit, tweaked some of the synth settings and played around with the drum patterns some more. 

I think it feels more grounded. Less chaotic.

NB Prosalirus: an early Jurassic frog species known for being one of the oldest true frogs discovered.

"As I gazed through the eyes of the Jackdaws, I beheld a spectacle from the far reaches of the cosmos: 
a collective of alien amphibians, adorned in hues of azure and emerald like living auroras, spreading music across the universe. 

Some wielded saxophones, forged from celestial metals that gleamed with luminescent brilliance. Time itself seemed to dance with the rhythm, bending and stretching in a kaleidoscope of possibilities."
 
Loving the array of distorted Sax sounds at the moment. This is all layers of distorted and twisted sax with a smidgen of a beat and a single synth bass.

Prosalirus - 2nd Age

This should - in some form - become part of the Airsongs album, which I had hoped to have completed by now, but hey... you know what it's like, it takes as long as it takes I guess.

Using a a single swell and fade from a sample of wind blowing across a gap in the window. I took some slices out and splurged them on top of each other. Along with some other FX.

Some fun sounds came out of it, and I've tried to blend them all together. It gets a bit trance like and psychedelic here and there.

This mix is the very very short version... hehehe

Beelzebufo Sound System

Moving at a quick 160 bpm and clocking in at 6 minutes and 59 seconds, Cloud Sprites borrows textures from elsewhere in Airsongs but reshapes them into something playful and strange. A squeaky, jazzy motif flits through the track — like a Moog’s mischievous cousin — chirping and skipping across the stereo field as if it’s singing a secret song to itself.

At times, the track loses itself in the mist — soft, ethereal swells fill the space — but the sprite always finds its way back, popping up in the foreground with bright, unpredictable energy. A deeper bass sprite joins the fun midway through, throbbing with enthusiasm before slowly fading back into vapor. It’s a windy daydream with a mischievous pulse — full of sonic hide and seek.

Slow, introspective, and ambient at its core — but beneath the calm lies a hidden pulse at 160 bpm. Deep Breath moves in long, spacious waves: swelling, cresting, and falling like air drawn deep into the lungs. Triplet drums ripple subtly through the mix, often blurred by reverb until they dissolve into texture rather than rhythm. At just 5 minutes and 22 seconds, it feels like a meditation — paced for breathing — yet it’s punctuated by brief flares of excitement, shimmering with spiritual overtones. A quiet reverie with a secret momentum.

The most overtly techno-infused track on Airsongs, Dune Swirl hits with a driving 160 bpm beat right just as you start to get comfortable — firm, grounded, almost reassuring. But around it, chaos gathers. Scratchy, abrasive wind textures crash in from the edges, drawn from the same sonic world as Whirlwind but twisted into something darker. Themes resurface — stabs, swells — but this time they feel frayed and unstable.

At 6 minutes and 39 seconds, it’s a tightly coiled storm. Moments of clarity arrive when the chaos drops out and the beat stands alone, offering a false sense of safety. Then the winds return, jagged and unpredictable. The breath at the end — the hallmark of these Airsongs — is there, but it doesn’t get to finish. It cuts off, abruptly, like a gust caught mid-sigh.

Dune Swirl

A warm, groovy closer to Airsongs, Leaf Shadows clocks in at 9 minutes and 56 seconds and opens with a light step. Built at 80 bpm but peppered with double-time syncopations, it feels sprightly and upbeat — a playful dance of reverberating air and rhythm.

A rich bassline enters early, grounding the atmosphere with a pulsing calm before giving way to a more psychedelic passage. Airy textures flutter and stretch like shadows on leaves, until the bass rhythm re-emerges — familiar and welcome, like meeting an old friend for a slow stroll home.

Around 6 and a half minutes, the track teases a gentle fadeout — but then returns with a second wind. The groove rolls on, unhurried, before stronger gusts begin to push through, ushering in a sweeping, dramatic finale that carries the album out on a high, airy note.

Though it shares the 160 bpm undercurrent of its companions, Mountain Breeze feels sharper, more urgent — like wind funneling down from snow-dusted peaks. A single heavy beat anchors the track in place, while the rest is a flurry of motion: icy gusts, swirling reverb trails, and sudden rushes of sound that come at you and then vanish into the altitude. As it unfolds over 6 minutes and 31 seconds, a rhythm begins to take shape — as if someone has tamed the breeze and started to steer it. Eventually, the pattern softens. The momentum eases, and the track descends gently into a familiar long exhale — a quiet return from the mountain’s edge.

Built from a single 20-minute field recording of a thunderstorm passing over your home, Rolling Thunder captures that suspended feeling of being right in the storm’s heart. The track begins quietly — distant rumbles scattered like footsteps on the edge of something vast. As the thunder grows more frequent, a strange, breathy motif begins to emerge — a sound reminiscent of a melodic aqualung, guiding us through the swirling pressure.

At 145 bpm (though it feels slower), the pace is patient, deliberate. The breathing quickens as the storm intensifies, then slows again as the thunder rolls away, releasing the tension. Spanning 9 minutes and 58 seconds, the piece ends as gently as it began — the echo of a distant crash in a cavern, then nothing but a soft hum of static wind. No jolts. No drama. Just the solemn rhythm of charged air moving on.

A high-altitude rush of air with nowhere to collide — just pure, open flow. Eddies twist and scatter through invisible space, forming swirl patterns that repeat, fade, and return in hypnotic pulses. Clocking in at 160 bpm and stretching over 10 minutes and 36 seconds, this track is a heady, invigorating ride — fresh and alive with movement. It surges forward with a sense of freedom and urgency, only to settle at the end in a long, calming out-breath, deconstructed. 

This is a  journey of whirling soundscapes, made using elements of the wind.

More experimental than its siblings, Whistling Winds dives into darker, more unsettling territory. Running for 7 minutes and 20 seconds at 150 bpm, it pulses with sampled and re-sampled wind textures, sculpted into unearthly hums and deep resonances. These tones rise and fall in slow-motion waves — tactile and immersive — while a contrasting layer of static buzzes and modulated high-end frequencies skitter across the top, like electronic bees caught in a jar.

There’s tension in the contrast: the low-end warmth feels good, grounding — but the whistling overlays keep things twitchy, off-kilter. As the track ends, those signature deep dome-like tones return… only now, something even lower stirs beneath. A rumble we haven’t heard before — elemental, infrasonic, and final.
