I started this around this time last year. The 7/8 timing gave it a very particular feel. I thought it was worth persevering with. But I put it away to catch the next round of sleigh bells.

So, it's that time of year, and I've gone back to it, updated and remixed. And I requested some online AI generated lyrics that had a darker, more cynical look at this festive season;  I kept what looked to closest to what I wanted, and that I put it through a text to speech program. I've messed the voice up a bit though, and got some interesting results.

Some sax put through a distortion amp and some more sax in echo and reverb chambers, spurt some it through a synth, add some heavy bass, a dash of drone and a slow heavy kick beat. 

Throw in a tambourine, and it all comes spilling out in a sinful mess.

Apart from the bass, drums and tambourine, all the other sound is made out of saxophone.

It sounds like you shouldn't do this kind of thing to a sax. But I like it. And I should probably be ashamed of myself!

So I wanted to change up Yet Another WaterGong.

After trying a few things out, I started again, but kept the track settings the same. Things moved in a different direction.

This inspired me to go back and do a WaterGong Remix...

This should - in some form - become part of the Airsongs album, which I had hoped to have completed by now, but hey... you know what it's like, it takes as long as it takes I guess.

Using a a single swell and fade from a sample of wind blowing across a gap in the window. I took some slices out and splurged them on top of each other. Along with some other FX.

Some fun sounds came out of it, and I've tried to blend them all together. It gets a bit trance like and psychedelic here and there.

This mix is the very very short version... hehehe

Beelzebufo Sound System

The most overtly techno-infused track on Airsongs, Dune Swirl hits with a driving 160 bpm beat right just as you start to get comfortable — firm, grounded, almost reassuring. But around it, chaos gathers. Scratchy, abrasive wind textures crash in from the edges, drawn from the same sonic world as Whirlwind but twisted into something darker. Themes resurface — stabs, swells — but this time they feel frayed and unstable.

At 6 minutes and 39 seconds, it’s a tightly coiled storm. Moments of clarity arrive when the chaos drops out and the beat stands alone, offering a false sense of safety. Then the winds return, jagged and unpredictable. The breath at the end — the hallmark of these Airsongs — is there, but it doesn’t get to finish. It cuts off, abruptly, like a gust caught mid-sigh.

A warm, groovy closer to Airsongs, Leaf Shadows clocks in at 9 minutes and 56 seconds and opens with a light step. Built at 80 bpm but peppered with double-time syncopations, it feels sprightly and upbeat — a playful dance of reverberating air and rhythm.

A rich bassline enters early, grounding the atmosphere with a pulsing calm before giving way to a more psychedelic passage. Airy textures flutter and stretch like shadows on leaves, until the bass rhythm re-emerges — familiar and welcome, like meeting an old friend for a slow stroll home.

Around 6 and a half minutes, the track teases a gentle fadeout — but then returns with a second wind. The groove rolls on, unhurried, before stronger gusts begin to push through, ushering in a sweeping, dramatic finale that carries the album out on a high, airy note.

A high-altitude rush of air with nowhere to collide — just pure, open flow. Eddies twist and scatter through invisible space, forming swirl patterns that repeat, fade, and return in hypnotic pulses. Clocking in at 160 bpm and stretching over 10 minutes and 36 seconds, this track is a heady, invigorating ride — fresh and alive with movement. It surges forward with a sense of freedom and urgency, only to settle at the end in a long, calming out-breath, deconstructed. 

This is a  journey of whirling soundscapes, made using elements of the wind.

More experimental than its siblings, Whistling Winds dives into darker, more unsettling territory. Running for 7 minutes and 20 seconds at 150 bpm, it pulses with sampled and re-sampled wind textures, sculpted into unearthly hums and deep resonances. These tones rise and fall in slow-motion waves — tactile and immersive — while a contrasting layer of static buzzes and modulated high-end frequencies skitter across the top, like electronic bees caught in a jar.

There’s tension in the contrast: the low-end warmth feels good, grounding — but the whistling overlays keep things twitchy, off-kilter. As the track ends, those signature deep dome-like tones return… only now, something even lower stirs beneath. A rumble we haven’t heard before — elemental, infrasonic, and final.
