What an incredible opportunity to hear the way other artists interpret my music!  Every song is different.  I gave each artist the option of picking ANY song from my catalog that most inspired them.  This remix of "Dusted Compass (feat Lila Rose)" is one of my favorites.  Huge love to all the artists involved!!!

Jazzzz in ya bones!!! This song was written during my visit to New Orleans Jazz fest 2014.  One of my most inspiring trips/opportunities to share music thus far happened in May this year when "Soul Visions (Rising Appalachia + The Human Experience) were invited to play at the Sugar Mill with Thievery Corporation (live) and Galactic.  What an incredible opportunity to share the stage with such high level musicians.  Jazz fest BLEW MY MIND.  The city becomes completely inundated with music 24 hours a day.  New Orleans stole my heart.

I was staying at my friend Roc's house (Roc you are a LEGEND).  His house is incredibly inspiring (We recorded 2 of the songs from "Soul Visions" in a closet/bathroom at his home (and may I add that his Kitchen is one of the most magical creative zones EVER.  

One night I couldn't sleep.  I was so overwhelmed with inspiration from going to concerts 12 hours a day, that the music in my head would not turn off.  The only thing I could do was work on music.  That night, I wrote this song.  I also had the vision of recording some especially incredible musicians while I was in New Orleans, yet had unfortunately not found the write players yet.  The following morning, I played the new song for Roc and mentioned to him that I'd really love some guitar.  He said (in his lovely Kiwi accent), "I know this pretty rippin guitar player from this band Trombone Shorty" (if you don't know who they are, do yourself a favor and check them out).  The band happened to be in town playing Jazz Fest (they tour 200 shows a year lol).  Roc called Pete Murano (you are also a LEGEND)  and he was super into the idea of us having a session.  

The day I went over to meet him I was a bit nervous.  A lead guitarist from a huge band can often be "not so approachable", but Pete could not be any cooler, down to earth, and over all an absolutely chill guy (and beyond ripping guitar player).  I love working with you Pete and look forward to creating a lot more music (look for another song on this album coming out soon)

Fast forward a couple months, I email Eric Oberthaler  (eO) with some horn section ideas (Eric, you are also a LEGEND) and here we are with a new song (which makes me dance in pants, and sometimes without pants).

Jazzzz In Ya Bones (feat Pete Murano and eO) full album out on Jumpsuit Records Sept 30th

This is the 4th single from my new album "Embraced".  It is a remix I did for the amazing Kyrstyn Pixton, who over the last several years has become a great friend.  

Kyrstyn's music is deep and uplifting.  Her improvisational skills are incredible, and if you've ever had the chance to see her live, she's quite the silly one as well.  I've had some of my favorite live jams with her (dinosaur song at Rootwire, absolutely legendary lol)

I'm so excited to share my rendition of "Beads on the Wind".  I was visiting Kyrstyn and our friend Theo Brama happened to be at her house when I was choosing which song I wanted to remix.  I dove immediately into writing the song and was adding some guitar parts when I invited Theo (also 1/2 of Entheo, who I recommend checking out)to lay down some guitar parts.  Very happy with the result.  This song melts my heart

I wrote the original music for this song years ago and could only come up with one line "Lead me into, show me what you got". My friend Charis actually came up with that lyric (to give her credit where credit is due) but we were never able to develop any other lyrics. I wanted a song that invited the listener into a deep sensual place of surrender. With all our effort, we just couldn't find the words. I tried several other vocalists but nothing stuck. 

Several months ago, I had given Nadine (Colibri) a folder of instrumentals that I hadn't released. One day, she surprised me and sent her first take at what was to become "Into Your Wild". Her voice is enchanting, and her choice of melodies and harmonies were exactly what this song needed to give it the breath that it now contains. It has been a pleasure writing songs with her and we have three more in the works, including a new original song/collaboration between myself, Colibri and Phutureprimitive (coming very soon). 

I hope this song....takes you....into your wild.

Medicina is a song about deep journies… This sample was provided by an artist in Pucallpa who is the son of a powerful shamanic matriarch of the tribe and has inherited her medicine ways, often painting the visions he is gifted from the plant medicine. Looking back at the night we wrote “Coast." We were on a tour stop in San Francisco and decided to take some time to sing under the moon. The lines of the chorus “it’s out of my control, so I’m gonna coast for a little while,” were a reference to our gypsy lifestyle. Little did we know that 7 months later, on the day we release the song, they would be emblematic of our collective psyche. 

While we firmly believe that there are things you CAN control (your heart, your mind), the lyric serves as a reminder that sometimes you need to put down the paddle and let the river take you where it leads. And that’s something a lot of us need to hear right now. ❤️ -Gone Gone Beyond

“The Human Experience” is David Block’s principal project as a live

David is constantly pushing the boundaries of live electronic music. Playing, composing, and conducting his own electronic symphony live on stage, his performances are brimming and layered with human emotion, world exploration, and sacred sounds. “The Human Experience” aims to cross cultural barriers through music. David has collaborated with artists all over the world including Ignacio Perez (Buena Vista Social Club), William Close (The Earth Harp), Random Rab, Govinda, Amae Love, Rising Appalachia, and many others.

Since his debut album “Inaudible Sounds” in 2010 , he has released nine other albums and has new projects planned for release in 2020.  Each song is a sonic journey; interweaving psychedelic layers of melody and harmony with organic grooves and international vibes.

Composing and performing live with the Audio/Visual/Dance projects “Phadroid” (Andrew and Phaedra Jones), “Quixotic”, “Lucent Dossier”, and “Seraphim” David is expanding his sounds into the mixed media world.

David has performed all over the world sharing the stage with renowned artists such as, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Tipper, Emancipator, The Polish Ambassador, and many more.
