The initial sound of the Koshi is dedicated to the moments in which we played it for Alma when she not yet had a name and was still in the womb of my beloved girlfriend Jessica.

The sound of Alma's heart beat was recorded just a few weeks prior to birth.

The sounds of her voice were yet feeble but one of her first sounds she made, realising for the first time that she has a voice which she can control.

The piano piece came to my mind during pregnancy of Jessica and I went to an acquaintance in Freiburg who allowed me to play on his piano and record. Also the melody kind of reminds me of a melody of Nils Frahm, one of my greatest inspirations. I hope I didn't copy him. If so - it was not at all intended but just the inspiration ;)

The Glockenspiel is my mom's, who is a music teacher for children and put the seed of music into my life.

Peaceful Piano Music | 'Alma' | Alexander Mercks

Alex and Malte started their musical journey in the summer of 2014. In the past years a strong friendship evolved between the two as well as an intensive musical project. In their music they use the instruments handpan and didgeridoo and create dynamically improvised sounds - contemplative and sensuous flowing into animating rhythms. In their concerts they are trying to create an atmosphere of total relaxation and inspiration in which people can just follow their mind dreams.
