Over the course of a year, producers A-0 and Viberous came together in person to produce the sonic narrative, Themes 4 4 Characters . Forming the collaborative moniker A-V , the two originally set out to create four tracks that represented four different characters. As the work progressed, production sessions entailed discussions of injustice, frustration with our current societal structures, and the blatant disregard of life by certain entities of power. Upon recording vocalist Seraphim for the opening track Priest, the narrative became more defined--an expression of the impact these incidences have on the physical and psychological well-being of family, friends, community, and culture. The second track, Arsonist, lends to a depiction of acrimony, fury, and indignation. Photographer, the documentation and dissemination of information leading to the desensitization of violence. Lastly, Hitman: questioning the morality of those who believe their duty upholds their decision and potential to take away an individual's life.

Technically, A-V utilized production techniques such as granular synthesis, 4-Tracks/Tape, guitar pedals/amps, and a variety of digital mangling to create affecting textures, divergent arrangements, and sonorous melodies. Artwork was created and rendered by visual artist, Symbios.wiki who has provided his visual interpretation of each of the four themed characters in addition to the album cover art.

Created over the course of 2 years, from 2015 - 2017, A-0’s second solo album Global Violence was composed as a response to the ever intensifying consumption of physical and mental violence transmitted through various forms of media. War in the Middle East, police brutality, weapons technology and surveillance, and political volatility served as the basis for each piece and reinterpreted into the auditory realm. These themes were then utilized by writer and artist Jahmal B. Golden, to create track names that when read consecutively, give way to poetry.

Applying the idea of maximalist composition, the music seeks to fill the entirety of the frequency spectrum and space, overwhelming the listener with crackling distortion, searing feedback, and lush low end, resolving into tentative ambience and temporary tranquility. Sonic themes of weaponry and reverberating shells appear throughout the album as an eerie reminder that even the most peaceful of moments cannot last forever.

In the current landscape of musical culture, we have seen an immense movement of new forms of sound and frenzied approach to the hybridization of music. A-0 epitomizes this form of creation, drawing from the traditions of dub, noise, techno, and bass to create a Frankenstein of genre-less sound system artillery. Throwing predictable musical traditions aside, A-0’s music is projected forward by hisses, pops, percussion, and ever-mutating low end. The sounds of liquefied pianos, mangled synthesizers, and broken drumbeats rise, releasing into a pool of low end and ambience, where melody is joined by harmony to create a blend of venerable rhythms and dystopian noise.
