The Harry Bells' "Kingman Island" EP gets the full remix treatment from some of the best producers working dance floors today. 

Hailing from Washington, DC, The Harry Bells are a horn-and-percussion tribute to the music of Harry Belafonte. 

Originally a trio, formed in 2012 by saxophonist Matt Rippetoe with friends Joe Herrera (trumpet) and Josh Kay (percussion), the Harry Bells now consist of 5 horns and three percussionists who play dense arrangements of hits recorded by Belafonte.

Daytoner is based in the UK and known for his sunny reworks, favorites of many a DJ around the world, including the renowned tastemaker Craig Charles. His original productions are being showcased with the Daytoner live band now on tour throughout the UK.

Honest Lee is the DJ moniker of Mylie Durham IV, one of the three percussionists in The Harry Bells. His re-edits of soul and funk are continually getting spins throughout the US and Europe. Growroom Productions is his outlet for all things funky and captivating.

Hold tight for more boozy dancefloor excess from the Editorial crew, a collective of re-editors whose musical output is always worth a listen. The seven-track missive begins with a chunk of electric piano-laden samba/jazz-funk magic courtesy of Nik M, before sometime Hot Digits and Midnight Riot man Frank Virgillio offers a more piano and percussion-laden chunk of sun-kissed Brazilian magic. Labor of Love gets the disco juices flowing via the cowbell-heavy shuffle of disco funker "Like I Do", The Funk District reach for the Clavinets on hazy roller "Baby Got It" and I Gemin smothers a tasty groove in liquid synths and deep house flourishes on "Oh Baby". To round things off, C Da Afro rearranges a warm and groovy electrofunk jam and Rica lays down some colourful nu-disco deepness.

Entretien avec Manu Dibango réalisé en 2012, en public, sur la Scène de Cybele pour Jazz à Vienne à l’initiative de Benjamin Tanguy (un grand merci à lui pour l’invitation). Le lendemain le festival proposait une carte blanche à cette immense artiste camerounais qui aura traversé une bonne partie du 20e siècle, son ténor et ses compositions à la main : la colonisation, les indépendances, l’afro-centrisme afro-américain, le jazz, la soul, les musiques africaines de la rumba congolaise au renouveau du makossa camerounais et j’en passe… J’ai laissé l’entretien dans son entièreté, et dans l’ordre en essayant d’illustrer par des passages de sa discographie qui correspondent le plus possible à ce dont nous sommes en train de parler. Evidemment, le choix des morceaux est tout à fait subjectif…je garde le souvenir d’un grand bonhomme, d’une grande humanité, d’une grande humilité et d’un sourire ravageur. Paix à son âme.
