Next up in our mix series is our very good friend and collaborator from Copenhagen, @mamasnake - co-founder of the notorious Amniote Editions. In this mix they're showing their peerless and sublime palette, full of sleek techno, slithering psychdelia and full blooded grooves. Thrilling and primal soundscapes transffering into a kinetic energy bomb. Get ready for this 72 minutes seamless journey of soaring vitality.

As you are listening to this, the people in Gaza are listening to the sound of genocide as the terror state of Israel carpet bombs hospitals, mosques, schools, refugee camps and other clear cut civilian targets while the elected leaders of the western world watch in silence.

Let it be known that in November 2023 when this mix came out more than 11.000 Palestinians including more than 4500 children were slaughtered by the fascist Israeli regime in the live streamed attacks on Gaza. Ute Mix Series #77 | Mama Snake

Lolsnake, also known as Danielle Lumma Rahal, is a Berlin-based Iraqi-American DJ and visual artist. As the founder of the Berlin queer party series Weeeirdos, which holds an ongoing residency at Säule Berlin, Lolsnake has carved out a unique space in the city's vibrant music scene.

In their special podcast for Pornceptual, Lolsnake dives into the multifaceted layers of dance music. For this special mix, they put together a mood that is a little bit darker and energetic yet sexy - "something that you can either pre-party with or watch pornography to".

The series is presented by Rakans: Beirut-born and Berlin-based, Rakans, founder of the Queer collective Rawmantique. He is also a Pornceptual resident. Rakans not only curates the podcast series but also conducts interviews with participating artists.

RobotHoover is a techno producer and DJ based in Denmark and originally from Belgium, educated in electronic music production in Barcelona. These European techno scenes strongly influence his mixes. This mix for Yax Invites aims to sketch a dark and brooding hypnotic landscape, with repetitive vocal samples as rays of hope through the darkness. In his original tracks he confronts rhythms to give rise to surprising patterning, letting industrial sounds crackle and grind, and making space for bubbling organic sounds in techno.

Yax Invites #177 - RobotHoover

Fellow Rome techno figurehead Adiel debuts on Spazio Disponibile with some heavy heavy low frequency cuts. Exploring bass weight in multiple tempo’s, it’s one of the most experimental releases on the label to date, still the main focus here is making dancefloors move. With Bristol icon Pinch contributing to the mix it’s made sure these steppers are soundsystem proof and will wiggle both mind and body.

We are excited to present the 19th episode of our podcast series, featuring label boss Phase Fatale. Since 2014, Hayden Payne has redefined techno with his fusion of heavy basslines, hypnotic rhythms, and dark, immersive soundscapes. A resident of Berlin’s Berghain and Tbilisi’s KHIDI, Payne’s productions and DJ sets embody the raw energy and innovation of contemporary techno. With releases on Ostgut Ton, Jealous God, and his own label BITE, Payne continues to push the genre’s boundaries.

Returning to the Podcast for yet another round of Mach 4 techno comes Mala Junta head honcho DJ Tool, a live recording from his clubnight’s Bassiani takeover back in March. The Danish-born, German-based selector and former Fast Forward collaborator is every bit the sound and feel of Copenhagen, the gritty, trance-focused beats that have found a home in the Danish city run through his work like liquid mercury and now have Berlin in their grasp. And for one special night earlier this year, alongside D.Dan and Yazzus, Tbilisi too came under his fevered spell. With a manifest focus on inclusivity, support, friendship, and community, his signature sound is faster than a speeding bullet, one that whips up every ounce of a crowd’s energy and leaves behind the type of excited chatter you hear at the cloakroom at the end of the very best nights. It’s a techno that cuts right through and connects with people in the most visceral way, releasing pent up spirits through ferocious tempos and whirling bass. Bassiani Podcast 230 is unchained, unapologetic and pure DJ Tool throughout, four hours of pyrotechnic force from the Mala Junta firebrand.

LDS (an acronym for Luca Daniel Schwarz) is based out of Stuttgart, and fast blazing a trail beyond his native Germany. 2018 saw his Dub Tapes From Outer Space EP out on Transatlantic Records, dubby techno stirrings crossbred with a hint of the psychedelic, dub both reduxed and reinterpreted, and people started to pay attention. From his studio, he pushed this work in all directions, a process of investigation, critical thinking, creation of sounds and modulation, a spark plug method of getting his software instruments into the kind of feedback loop he needs to produce the best results. Conceptually, though there’s a mirroring of past influence, it’s music for a newer and thoroughly networked era: the ‘educational internet' is, he says, the place he spends a lot of time both learning and developing his music. That signature sound has dovetailed with the work of labels like Monnom Black, Blue Hour and Planet X, where his productions have also taken on genres like trance and IDM. The benchmark for all his releases, sets, and (starting in 2023) live performances is a high-speed fluttering salvo of rhythms that penetrate and resist any type of conceptual reverse manufacture, but to Luca it matters little: ‘the impression and thoughts of the listener are the only concepts that are true’. It’s what people feel then, that puts him on the map. It’s dub techno but not as you know it, atmospheric pads deputise their role to hardheaded beats and the end product is no less hypnotic. For Bassiani Podcast 234 LDS riffs on relatively simple construction, daisy-chaining tracks faster than you can identify what trace of emotion they’ve left behind, and building a mood that’s rife with ideas and ready to dance. This is switched on techno for the internet generation, immersive beats in conversation with their author, a reworking of the old and the birth of something entirely new.
