A Lithium Dream

Believe it or not, the title here isn't a COVID reference OR a Persona reference. It refers to a comment made by a college admissions officer from some school called Cornell (which you may have heard of) - "We need applicants to understand that standardized test scores are not a mask for overall academic performance." This needlessly aggressive attack on my very real admissions strategy pissed me off, which inspired this piece.

Not A Mask

I don't fancy myself a romantic, so this classic-style love ballad isn't for those passionate encounters. It's just a backdrop for a good old tea time.

I do some of my best work in a cold basement. Something about being just the right amount of uncomfortable just makes you keep your focus. This piece attempts to capture that feeling. Written in a cold basement, of course.
