Magic Castles are a five-piece psychedelic rock band from Minneapolis MN. Their sound has been described as minimalistic, dream pop & neo-psychedelic rock. Drawing from a myriad of influences, combining the hazy, "floaty" atmospherics of bands like Spacemen 3 and Galaxie 500, with the organ-drenched psych of the mid/late 60's--particularly American west coast folk-rock, Magic Castles continue to create an altogether unique sound.

Since their 2012 release on Anton Newcombe’s imprint they have toured consistently, building a solid reputation for wall-of-sound live shows, stretching out their songs to new dimensions. The Magic Castles were the supporting act for BJM's east coast tour in 2012. Thrasher Magazine recently used their song "Big Sur" in a skate video alongside Kurt Vile. On April 20th 2014, BJM released a beautiful 12" split single with The Magic Castles for Record Store Day. 

"Sky Sounds” was recorded at The Old Blackberry Way Studio in Minneapolis, MN by Neil Weir. Produced by Neil Weir, Jason Edmonds, "Sky Sounds” sees the band reaching new heights. The album is dense with lush arrangements, jangling backward guitar sweeps, ever deepening melodic layers, symphonic Farfisa tones, and bright vocal harmonies. A host of guest musicians were included on select tracks, adding cello, viola, flute & trombone.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Heat

Musique de film imaginé (music for film imagined) is a soundtrack that pays homage to the great European film directors of the late 50’s and 60’s, such as François Truffaut & Jean-Luc Godard (to name but two), created by Anton Newcombe on behalf of the Brian Jonestown Massacre for an imaginary French film. Guests on this daring symphonic experience are French chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist SoKo and Italian actress, singer and director Asia Argento. SoKo is signed to Because Music and her track ‘We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow’ was featured in the viral video ‘First Kiss’, which has garnered over 63 million views and debuted at number 9 in the Billboard Hot 100 last year. Asia Argento, who has starred in music videos for Marilyn Manson, Placebo and Tim Burgess, recently wrote the storyline for ASAP Rocky’s music video and short film ‘Phoenix’, which has had over 5.5 million hits. Both vocal performances are in French. Anton Newcombe recorded Musique de film imaginé in Berlin in August 2014, after a successful European tour for the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Anton says:
“The album that you are about to hear is a soundtrack, my own creation, a tribute to great directors and filmmakers to an era that now seems to be behind us. Leaving the smart person to care to imagine that this art could now be in the shadow of its former glory. “The interesting thing about this project is that the film does not exist either. Even so, I imagined and I realized its soundtrack... Now it's your turn, you are the listener to imagine the film.”

Brian Jonestown Massacre returned last May with their 14th full-length album ‘Revelation’ to critical acclaim. It is the first album that was fully recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe’s recording studio in Berlin and was released on his record label a recordings. Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, California in 1990. Two dozen band members later and numerous “ups and downs” (some have been famously sensationalized in the media), the one thing that has always remained consistent for this psychedelic collective, is front man Mr. Anton Alfred Newcombe.

This is a collaboration between Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) which happened early in 2014 & the summer of 2014 in Berlin . As everyone hopefully knows about Anton Newcombe’s history we have decided to tell you more about Tess Parks.

A native of Toronto, Tess Parks moved to London, England at the age of seventeen where she briefly studied photography before dropping out and deciding to focus on music. Tess managed to make an impression on industry legend Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, albeit the timing of their meeting could hardly have been less ideal; McGee was no longer involved in music and Tess was due to move back to Toronto. After moving back to her hometown in 2012, Tess formed a band on the advice of Alan McGee and less than a year after their meeting, he returned to music with his new label, 359 Music. Tess became one of his first six signings and released her debut record Blood Hot in November 2013 to excellent reviews. One reviewer described her as “Patti Smith on Quaaludes”. Others have mentioned her "gauzy psychedelic sound” and "smouldering voice”. Alan McGee himself said: “She’s only 24 and is already an amazing songwriter... she just doesn’t quite know she is yet … her most beautiful quality is her lack of ego. Tess is an amazing lady”.

In February 2014, she began recording with Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe in Berlin and they completed their new record 'I Declare Nothing' in autumn 2014. The record is due out later this year..

Groove Is In The Heart is the first of 3 singles from the forthcoming album “Don’t Get Lost” released in February 2017. Both tracks (Groove Is In The Heart & Throbbing Gristle) feature vocals by Tess Parks , these tracks give an idea of the changing rhythms of the Brian Jonestown Massacre for the new album. Heavy hypnotic beating drums , with smoky vocals provided by Tess Parks.Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past 2 years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album ‘Revelation’ in May 2014. After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the ‘+-‘ EP (Nov 2014). 2015 saw the release of ‘Musique de film imaginé’ (April); an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track ‘Bonbon’ which has, ironically, been used in ‘Dheepan’; the Palme D'or winner at Cannes film festival 2015. In June, Anton and Tess Parks embarked on a well received tour of the UK and Europe to support the release of ‘I Declare Nothing’. Anton finished the 2015 with a BJM mini-album release entitled ‘Mini-Album Thingy Wingy’ . In 2016 The band released 2 singles and the critically acclaimed Third World Pyramid . The band have been touring the world since November 2015 ,playing Australia , New Zealand , and then in 2016  USA , Canada , Europe , Chile & Argentina.

This is the new single which announces the band's forthcoming two albums to be released this year. The first track is "Hold That Thought" which comes from the album "Something Else" which is to be released on 1st June 2018. The second track is "Drained" which will come from the self titled album that will be released in September of 2018.
