The GRAMMY-winning engineer for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, Tchad Blake said: "Strange Part of the Country is an awesome album! I still listen to it."

Fleetwood Mac legend Peter Green liked Conil's music so much he stopped by Conil’s house to record with him. They recorded a version of Conil's homage to the jazz greats "Round Midnight". 

Strange Part of the Country never conformed to any current trends and has remained timeless. Now, people are discovering this album and it is becoming an all-time favourite. 

When the album was released in the UK, it received some amazing press. Britain's biggest selling music monthly Q magazine gave it: "Four stars - Q Recommends". Blues Matters magazine wrote: "One of the most original artists out there". In the next issue, Blues Matters put him on the front cover.

Conil left London after Strange Part of the Country was released and has spent the last ten years living in the United States and Europe - including New Orleans, New York City, and Berlin.

Swedish indie rock band Koala Bar creates music that connects intimately with the human soul. With an atmospheric and reflective approach to music, their work brings to mind the style of artists like The National and Big Red Machine.

Constructing the project as a concept instead of an identity, the members reflect on conceiving it beyond the traditional perspective of a music group, “We think of Koala Bar as more of a ‘sound’ than a band”.

“Our original plan with the name was to create a community (a bar) that people could gather round and join into”. Embracing an inclusive mindset that is embedded in their core values, the band has worked with several projects concerning various social issues. “In some way we still have this metaphorical picture of a bar where you wanna hang out”.

Starting as a duo in 2015, Koala Bar gained recognition after being nominated in music magazine Gaffa’s Best New Artist category with their 2018 debut album “Di Sorte”. In 2020, they released their second full-length album “Ethos Pathos Locos”. The band has recently welcomed two more members, becoming a quartet.

Koala Band signed with Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in June 2022, they’re preparing to release their third album in the near future.

All songs recorded live at home on my old shitty mobile phone  - some tracks with overdubs - by myself. All Tracks are 1st, 2nd or 3rd Takes (the "good old Blues and Jazz-Style", respectively I just read the Miles Davis Auto-Bio for the second time, so that was a huge influence regarding the live and direct recording approach of people like Parker, Monk, Gillespie, B. Holiday, Django, Satchmo, Leadbelly, R. Johnson...), so unfortunately there also a few heavy (mis-)Takes included;).
