Here’s the set I made for my 9th year playing in the Fractal Forest at Shambhala Music Festival. This year has been a crazy adventure of non-stop touring around the world, but Shambhala is always the most important set for me. 

Special thanks to Blackout JA for helping me to create the “Oh Shambhala” song and his other contributions, as well as my amazingly talented friends who send me such great music, stems and acapellas to play with. Without the forward thinking creative music community, I wouldn’t be able to make sets like this. Everything is edited and changed for my own purposes, the tracklist contains all the major elements of the set.

He’s back with another one of those frock rockin’ beats!

It took a long time to get this tune finished because Mr Stabalina did indeed throw his hands in the air, and because he’s made of helium and sex musk, they floated off and were taken by an eagle.

We contacted Team America but they kept repeating ‘Mmmaaattt Dammmmmooonnnn’, over and over; we contacted The A-Team but they refused to travel; we contacted the Time Team but they had a problem with their geophys; no answer at all from The Suicide Squad. In the end we tracked them down with a sex-musk-o-meter. Hello. My name is Mr Stabalina. You stole my hands. Prepare to die.*

Safely back in the studio we’ve been trying alternatives to throwing actual hands in the air. We’ve tried ants, pants and washing machines, but after getting stung, arrested and breaking very many bones we’d recommend just sticking with your hands and damn the consequences.

*The Eagle and Mr Stabalina formed a firm friendship and are now fighting crime in Guatemala.

At one of my shows in San Francisco recently I got one of the strangest song requests of my career. I was in the middle of mixing in a funky glitch hop throw back banger, when a girl came up and asked for some Fleetwood Mac. Naturally, I had nothing for her. It’s apparent how much fun Qdup and EVeryman had while writing the lyrics for Joyride. They were on tour driving between gigs and pulled inspiration for being on a Joyride to the party. For these remixes, Qdup commissioned a few good friends to hop in the whip and reimagine the ride. First up is old friend and fellow Washington, DC native Wes Smith who relocated to San Diego, CA. Rusty Cravers is the new Future House side project of Vancouver’s Wood n Soo who are good friends from western Canada and part of the Danio Management family.

You may know Wes Smith from his releases on Punks Music and his own Juice Recordings imprint, Wes has really made a name for himself in recent years with his remixes and original production. This is the second Wes Smith Remix on Fort Knox Recordings, and his musical diversity shines well on this remix as he pumps up the tempo to a Jacking Funky House vibe. Wes Smith let EVeryman’s lyrics lead the track and drops a huge 808 fueled breaks breakdown in the middle which is sure to set the dance floor ablaze!

Rusty Cravers push the tempo up as well and remixed Joyride into a bass-driven Future House banger destined to wreck dance floors worldwide. Laden with infectious dark keyboard leads and more dubbed out vocals let their clean production style come through. Huge horn stabs push a driving house beat and a devastating sub bass that can flex any sound system set the tone for their trip to the party!

After the original mix gaining much love and support right across the board including plays on BBC 6 music, this remix is a welcome addition to the 'Boogie' package. Rising Star of the scene WBBL adds his unique style of Bass and Funk into the melting pot with his take of the already classic Shaka Loves You track. WBBL instantly transforms this into a festival ready battle weapon for the summer, adding his insanely high-level production and a good dose of bass to Fullee Love's (aka Soup from Jurassic 5) smooth vocals. The remix was something of a passion project for WBBL.
