A Somber Dirge is a collective of artist devoted to channel the essence of occult forces into sound and image through various mediums. We hail from various locations as well as traditions, and we gather in northern Sweden to manifest our devotion to the forces of death. 

Since we all are very involved with occult practices, but at the same time don't work with the same systems and entities, we try to incorporate everything to a solid ground for the individual to adapt into his own practice. This is the reason for us not to use lyrics and common symbols or sigils. Instead we provide a foundation for every contributor, and also every listener, to use with his or her own spiritual practice. The music and imagery should be adaptable for any adept to use. 

During a live ceremony, different parts of the collective that is A Somber Dirge will be able to use the music for their own means, using their own chants and rituals. The number of contributors during a ceremony are not a fixed number, it won't be like any other band with fixed members where you know what is going to happen and who's doing what, since there are no boundaries restricting us in our creativity. The effect of this will be an infernal void of sounds and impressions drowning in it self. 

Since we work as a collective of artists, there are no limitations on what things that are possible. A Somber Dirge embodies the visions and the abilities of individuals in all parts of the underground "Black Metal community", and that means that within this group there are many years of experience from all parts of the industry, ranging from rather high profile musicians, to festival promoters, managers, photographers, producers and label owners. The common ground is of course that it is all based around the left hand path of occultism and worship of death.
