Keep Your Powder Dry is a new single released on October 5th, by 10-piece Urban Music Collective, The Moods. The tracks were handpicked for the movie Strangeways Here We Come, by Terry Christian, and set the tone perfectly as they boom out in the opening and closing scenes of this Dark British, comedy/drama. This major UK film feature film, "Strangeways Here we come", is directed by Chris Green, and has an all star cast that including; Michelle Keegan, Stephen Lord, Lauren Socha and Nina Wadia. The Film has its worldwide premier at the Vue Cinema Manchester print-works on 4th October and hits general nationwide release on 5th October.  

Makers of the Salford-set, darkly-comic feature film chose not one but two of The Moods’ tracks for the soundtrack, testament to the fact that their sound captures the atmosphere of northern Urban life.

Both will be available on all digital download and streaming platforms. Both tracks written and produced by the Moods, released by A1M records Ltd, distributed worldwide by Republic of Music. Kids Carry Guns will also be released as a Ltd edition 7-inch Vinyl, on 100 pressed, collector’s edition gate-fold sleeve, includes bonus CD of both tracks, inside. The Moods are coming to the end of an incredible summer of festivals and gigs, that has seen over 15,000 attend their live shows, festival slots & headline tour dates across the UK. Crowds, press and music industry bloggers have been blown away, by the pure energy, enthusiasm and dance vibe that the moods bring to any stage. It’s infectious and we dare anyone not to dance.  The Summer single carnival was a massive worldwide smash, 20,000 streams, played in 50 countries and heard on over 45 UK, National. Regional and global FM/AM radio stations. Two more festivals await, Sonder Fest Manchester 29th September @ FAC251, then a massive live end of year show, Music from The North, at Band on the wall 15th December, will bring to a deafening crescendo, a momentous year for the moods.

THE MOODS - BIOGRAPHY
The Moods have been wisely described as "Rage Against the Machine, The Prodigy and The Happy Mondays mixed into a grime-soufflé". Formed in Manchester in 2014, this 10-strong band unifies rap, brass and strings, delivering a brilliant fusion of drum & bass, hip-hop, reggae and EDM. All ten Moods bringing their own unique style and energy to every single live set, meaning their mighty music always sparks off a contagious need to dance from the very first song on the setlist. What's more, their lyrics are relatable and real; this is music to make you think, as well as dance. With such a dizzying mix of instruments and passionate performers, their gigs are nothing short of spectacular. "It’s all about the BPM,” say bassist Dave O'Rourke, “and the feel of playing it live".

The AA Side Single, Changing for You and Soulwaves, is the third release of 2020. A year which has seen this cross generational  post punk outfit from Oldham, battle adversity , take on the pandemic and the constraints of  lockdown, and emerge; still fighting, still writing there unique brand of honest intelligent post punk guitar music. Firmly establishing  themselves as a force to be reckoned with and ones to watch for 2021.

Hailing from the moors above Manchester, Stepford Wives combine youthful optimism with mercurial wisdom to serve up raucous, intelligent guitar music that packs a powerful punch. Their distinctive, post-punk vocals, incredible drumming, mesmerising bass-playing and melodic guitar riffs combine to make an unforgettable set brimming with raw energy. 
A four-piece outfit spanning Generations X-Z, Stepford Wives are: Niklos Jackson (guitar, lead vocals), Rowan Heywood (bass, backing vocals), Jarrod Ogden (drums) and Dom Wint (lead guitar). Get involved in Stepford Wives' game-changing music and live shows or be left in their wake

In 2019, the band released their first single, Follow This Way. Thanks to this track and their raw, energetic gigs, Stepford Wives quickly caught the attention of radio stations, promoters and the press. I Can’t Fight, the band’s second single, made Indie Rocks Radio's Top Ten Singles of 2019 and Louder Than War called them ‘Ones to watch 2020’. Early 2020 they unleased a third single All On Me. Featured on National TV, Soccer AM, it gained stellar reviews in Louder Than War, RGM and Northern Revive music press, extensive press coverage with MEN, Metro news, regional press & daytime BBC radio, the band are on a high looking to close out a turbulent 2020 with a flourish.

Independent record label & artist development company, “Passionate about sounds that make a difference”. Inspired by the DIY ethos of Wilson and McLaren & born of the post punk, electronic noise, emanating from 80's & 90's.

Producers & Collaborations (Our Team)

Since 2012, we have built an international network of collaborators & partners that get the most out of your music. These include; award winning, producers, engineers, re-mixers, world class recording and mastering studios all who have worked with artists that have has both commercial chart success across; indie, dance, funk, soul & EDM.

Our producers, re mixers and studio partners and have worked with the likes of, Gorillaz, Black Grape, Rhianna, The Charlatans, Johnny Marr, Tori Amos and New Order, even Ed Sheeran, Bombay Bicycle Club, Hercules & The Love Affair, Bob Marley and Grace Jones, to name but a few, so you’re in good hands!

﻿We have also teamed up with Bafta award winning film makers, cutting edge video editors and production companies, London and Regional based national digital and physical PR companies, national radio pluggers and pitch to Spotify and iTunes playlists to give our music a chance.

Why the Name?

We left Madchester, behind in 1997, and landed in rural Cambridgeshire. The next 13 years were spent traveling back North, up and down the famous A1 (M) "great north road" as we worked in Manchester, Salford and London. During this time, we worked with many different bands, genres and styles from the North to South of our great country. 

The A1(M) label takes its identity from "Great North Road". Where, since the 1950,s, bands have travelled the length and breadth of this backbone of English music, London to Edinburgh, playing live and building a fan-base. ﻿The A1(M) is "more than just a road", it connects the heartlands of UK with the Music Capital of the world."

Plans for the label?

Our aim is to provide a vehicle for independent bands to take on and compete with established indie labels by having a passionate team behind you offering an affordable formal structured resource to; record, release, sell, promote and gain exposure for their music" – We are looking to add new artists to our roster in 2019.

Inspiration- & Background

Passionate about indie music, played in bands, 1979, early 80’s, & promoted indie live gigs since 2005. Starting the label seemed the next logical step". Our own musical journey playing in bands from 1979-84 and working at a famous Manchester live venue the Mayflower during the second wave of punk and Oi. After being away from music for the "Madchester years" a chance hearing of single by a young Cambridge band "Inkus", in 2005, it rekindled a love of music, that had never really gone away". Music can and does make a difference.

Past Collaborations & Releases

Since 2005, we have collaborated and organized gigs for over 300+ bands in Manchester, at venues in, Salford, Cambridge and London, including the world famous 100 Club, Barfly, Sebright Arms, Nambucca, FAC-251, La belle Angel, Metropol, Zanzibar Club, Band on The Wall & the 1000 capacity Cambridge corn exchange.

From 2005 onward we organized and self-released 3 independent compilation albums & Live music DVDs, featuring Indie bands that played our Teenage Kicks Charity gigs in Cambridge and were also “In The City” official fringe event organizers from 2007-2010.  

We have collaborated and encouraged many new photographers and live music film makers and are proud to have hosted the Salford Debut Book Launch of Kevin Cummins, "Looking for the Light Through the pouring Rain". We have also worked in collaboration with DJ sets from; Dave Haslam, Peter Hook and worked with Happy Monday’s singer Rowetta and had events hosted by John Robb.
