Your Shot 2025 Mix

My debut DJ set, performed at YOUR SHOT 2025 (Home The Venue, Sydney).

This 25-minute set moves from iconic synth-pop to dark, filthy basslines, before rising to a haunting euphoric flow state. The music builds to a ritualistic crescendo before releasing with echoes of the beginning to bring the journey full-circle.

ALEX WARD | ISSUE 001 – DARK DANCE ZONE (@YOUR SHOT '25)

This 25-minute set was curated for the Your Shot competition and performed live at Home Nightclub, Sydney, on Sunday, July 20. As the closing act for the AlphaTheta stage, I wanted to offer something distinct from the sounds heard all weekend—something that moved the crowd both physically and emotionally.

I opened with Afro house grooves, blending Shake It to the Max with the hypnotic flute-driven Olappa by Lunar Plane to ground the dancefloor and shift everyone out of their heads and into their bodies. From there, I gradually built momentum into tribal and tech house, featuring the extended mix of Baiana by Barbatuques—pure energy.

For the final third, I transitioned into melodic and house techno to elevate the experience into a deeper, more transcendent state. Tracks like Aria by Argy and Syren by Rebūke brought the journey full circle and closed the set with power and emotion.

Curating music that connects with a crowd is what I live for, and this moment felt truly special. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as my friends and family did.
