‘Northmoor' is the debut release from Aa3_tzt.[RN500]. It also provides the inaugural release for their fledgling label, Aa3 Recordings.

Their work takes influence from abandoned industry, especially in Eastern Europe after it was industrialised by communism. ‘Northmoor' is an attempt to exact the sound and atmosphere of power plants. Futuristic and bold yet also murky and ambiguous at the same time.

"Operating as a distinctly internet age artist, Num.Lock, aka Theo Darton-Moore, creates tracks from deconstructed YouTube videos. With the possible dilemma of choosing from the wealth of sound sources out there, Num.Lock has decided to utilise the sounds of one video per track. By allowing no other sounds outside of their chosen video, it has forced the project to come up with new ways of generating traditional musical structures such as rhythm.

After this process of limitation, the sound sources which are unearthed are then warped beyond possible recognition. The project is said to be "attempting to explore the limits of the potential to recycle and re-contextualise sounds." The technique brings to mind the work of acts like Oval who experimented with the CD format back in the 90s."

‘##1 Versions’ follows Num.Lock’s debut release attempting to explore the limits of the potential to recycle and re-contextualise sounds. 

The reinterpretations included here were produced across early 2016, with each contributor given stems for their chosen track at varying stages in its production (before the original versions were complete). ‘##1 Versions’ features a diverse array of styles, from the crescendo-ing glitch of George McVicar’s ‘gUZU’ to Object Blue’s captivating vocal reduction of ‘F45w’. 

The release also features two notably more beatific experiments, West Norwood Cassette Library harking back to early Surgeon releases with a booming recast of ‘AYac’, and Airsilk manipulating ‘uSXY’ into a taut slab of mangled 4/4.

'Eradicate Ex Machina' is a tumultuous, unrestrained exploration into malfunctioned electronics. Written by New York-based Rose Knapp aka Starving Poet the release takes a freeform, improvisational approach, from the butchered swung rhythms of 'La Cosa Nostra' to the space- gaze abrasions of 'E-Fürther Futurist Flight'. RN500 have also contributed a frenetic re-imagining of 'La Cosa Nostra', retaining the relentless energy of the original with strictly regimented jackhammer drums and screen-shattered glitch.

'Eradicate Ex Machina' is available as a USB release, a number of which have been re-purposed from London's financial district.
