The Rotterdam-based label and agency On Board Music proudly marks its 10-year anniversary with a carefully curated compilation of likeminded artists. This milestone release showcases those who have shaped the label's sound and identity, while also setting the tone for the years to come. On Board 10 features nine tracks on vinyl, complemented by five exclusive digital bonus tracks.

The vaunted techno producer discusses the connections between visual art and music, balancing a full-time career as a fine artist and how he creates his signature sound.

There's a connection between visual art and dance music that's seldom explored on our channels. Mike Parker is well known in the underground techno scene for minimal, hypnotic and beautifully executed sound design that sits somewhere at the edges of club music. But he also received his master's degree in fine art and teaches drawing and painting at Daemon University in Buffalo, New York. Fans of Parker will recognise his visual trademark: monochromatic prints that adorn the covers of the records he puts out on his label, Geophone.

In this Exchange, Parker sits down with Chloe Lula to talk about how he balances his art- and music-making practices and how they inform each other. He also opens up about the long process of sticking to his sound and finding an audience rather than catering to the demands and suggestions of labels and distributors. His 2001 breakout album, Dispatches—which he reissued last year—is a meditation on the act of living far away from any listeners or immediate influences, and he discusses the ongoing drawbacks and rewards of balancing the Eurocentric pursuit of DJing with day-to-day work that's so geographically removed. He also opens up about his longtime collaboration with Donato Dozzy, his love of mid-20th-century sci-fi movies and how free-form radio shaped his approach to music and art. Laura MRLS is a non-binary DJ, producer, and curator based in Helsinki. Known for their hypnotic techno selections layered with eerie, cinemascopic atmospheres and industrialesque intensity, Laura weaves sets that are both emotionally charged and sonically intricate. A resident of SUBVERTED and Monument, co-founder of the else collective, and host of the monthly Affine Dark Science [AFDS] show on IDA Radio Helsinki, they’ve recently expanded AFDS into a record label and kicked off with its first ambient-focused event at Kaiku in Helsinki. Their debut live sets at Solstice Festival 2024 and at 

Helsinki Night of the Arts unveiled a deeper, cinematic ambient and drone direction.


In early 2025, Laura made their US debut with a DJ set at the underground event series Shelter in Los Angeles and a radio appearance on YERBA Radio in San Francisco. April 2025 also marked their first official release: an ambient track on a VA compilation by the Greek label USM Recordings. With performances across Europe at venues like TRESOR Berlin, Hall, The Garage of the Bass Valley, and Post Bar, Laura continues to shape a distinct sonic language—merging tension, texture, and emotional depth into a constantly evolving sound narrative.
