“I haven’t been much of a “follow the rules” kind of guy ever since I put out my first record in the late 90s. I’m not a traditionalist, I fall more into the category of tourist. Hence the name, UFO! 

As a tourist I can look at different traditions and appreciate them without feeling bound to keeping it the same. UFO! embraces change. UK Jungle is the biggest influence in my early life as a producer, it’s in my DNA. In creating “Streets EP”, I use the tradition of what 90s UK jungle was and make it my own by mutating the programming. There are many change ups within the 16-bar length in some of these tunes, things do not roll out as traditional Jungle does. But I found this way of programming to come very natural to me.

I live in San Francisco, California aka The Bay Area where we get good sun and are surrounded by incredible diversity. I have always seen myself as a part of the innovative history that The Bay has given to the world in music, film, and literature.

Psycho Bummer is proud to present UFO!, a true originator for bass music in the United States and a hero to us since before we can remember. 

As part of San Francisco’s Phunckateck crew in the 90’s, UFO!’s early music staked out a militantly abstract form of techstep that was unlike anything else around at the time. Releases like “Science Fact / Enemy Infiltration” in 1999 were among the first US-produced drum’n’bass records that many stateside ravers bought, and while we can only speak for ourselves, UFO! was a huge inspiration in getting us to make our own music. 

On the “Level Up” EP, UFO! continues a recent exploration of jungle, footwork, and juke-influenced tracks that are completely unpretentious and fun yet carry a certain strain of weirdness that links back to his early music. From heads down rollers like “Operation Drag n Drop” to the bizarre rush of “Level Up”, this stuff is unmistakably UFO! and it’s an honor to have him on our label. We hope you’ll love these tunes as much as we do.

The Rabbit, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, symbolizes longevity, peace, and most suitable for the Unchained trajectory, creativity.  

Each year we set out to collate a mélange of ambiguous club-ready electronic whilst doing our part to cross that apparent divide between drum ‘n’ bass, jungle, footwork, grime and other members of the extended bass family.

We haven’t always been wed to the massive banger alone, but we have to admit, we always will be obsessed. We don’t consider ourselves possessed by sonic slabs that are looped beyond recognition, but we hold them in high regard just the same. 

So with that in mind, curating the Year of the Rabbit compilation took some time this year.

The Year Of The Rabbit showcases artists both emerging and established from China, Russia, England, Holland, and the United States. Be it wonky, divergent, mutant, deep, or simply in the vein of the pure epic club banger, every producer has something remarkable and distinctive going on.

We introduce and welcome back our 2023 Year of the Rabbit artist crew: Subp Yao, Radiax, Lakeway, Danky, Neve, Harka, Doctor Jeep, Leo Cap, Kray, Trophy, Airstrike, Throe, Pllfry and Dynamic Stab.

"They Are Champions (Deluxe)" is a 2024 deluxe EP by Ramon Inc. that celebrates the original 2022 track with new reinterpretations: it includes the main remake version, a radio edit, an instrumental version, and the Löbato remix. Unlike an extended version, the star of the project is the remake—a modern reinterpretation that redefines the original with sonic density and its own identity.

The work sits at the intersection of synth trap and IDM, with high-pitched vocals and a dark atmosphere. The sonic aesthetic incorporates digitally captured trap beats, dirty synths, and oblique and fragmented basslines—creating a soundscape that flirts with the well-calculated chaos of IDM. The vocals, pitched higher and processed with modulations—ethereal reverbs and creative delays—add tension and estrangement to the narrative.

The remake version represents the creative pinnacle: it reconfigures the melody, alters the rhythmic structure, and features a more electronic and dense production, respecting the original hip-hop identity but subverting it with IDM textures and dissonant grooves. Löbato's remix, on the other hand, is a work steeped in the horror IDM aesthetic, clearly inspired by artists like Aphex Twin; it's fast, fragmented, and disturbing, with glitch art, high-pitched noises, and unexpected bass shifts—a reinterpretation that pushes the track to the limit of experimentation.

Despite all the versions surrounding "They Are Champions," the EP reveals Ramon Inc.'s positioning as a producer who blends urban aggression with electronic sophistication. The idea is to break with conventional structures, exploring sonic spaces that convey conflict, urgency, and modernity.

"They Are Champions (Deluxe)" is the remixed trophy of an already powerful song—and which, in this deluxe version, reinvents itself through darkness, glitchiness, and experimental intensity.
It is victory that emerges from the glitch.
