'O Verão' is the first song I wrote with Bévinda, in 2006. I had the music and the melody. It was originally composed it in 1998 as a nu-tango triptych (I had been in a big Astor Piazzolla phase, before the band Gotan Project released their first album and launched the nu-tango trend). The song remained untouched until a few years later when I asked Spanish actress Vittoria Abril, then Chilean singer Mariana Montalvo to write lyrics in Spanish to the music. They both worked on it, but the project never came to completion. Parts of the verse  ended in a song for Michèle Atlani (Drôle de Chat). Then I befriended Bévinda and asked her if she would write some lyrics for a song. I reworked on it and it became the present music for 'O Verão'. She penned  beautiful words in Portuguese and French.
The song is now part of our Fukaeri project. 

O Verão

The second song I wrote with Bévinda. It was then that we decided to start a project together. We performed 'Ja fui' at my last Parisian concert at La Bellevilloise, a couple of months before I left France to settle in Paris. 
Bévinda wanted to write a new song and she asked me to sit at the piano and improvise. As I was searching for a chord progression, she began singing a few notes, and I took on from there.

It's a vocalise, no word. The song was actually written in 1998 and I already had Bévinda in mind at that time, whence the latin flavour. I was a fan of hers but I didn't know her personally yet. 14 years later, we are friends and we are writing songs together. 
I'm happy to hear with with both our voices! It's moving when a song sees the light after such a long time. 
I kept the song virtually untouched in its original arrangement. Anh em in Vietnamese means brothers.

Meu Goloso

A fairly epic song which was written at a crucial point in both our lives. I was about to say farewell to my home city of Paris to start anew in Taiwan, and Bévinda was saying farewell to a friend who was dying of cancer. But we didn't want the song to drag, so I came up with this arrangement which blended elements of dub, electro, latin music and a very nice string section. I voice/piano prelude a last minute addition, and was penned by Bibbe Hansen and me. 

Boa Viagem

Fukaeri is the title of a duet project by Portuguese singer Bévinda and French born Vietnamese composer Aaken. They wrote their songs together in 2006. Then slowly other songs saw the light. It became obvious that they had to be part of a whole album which will be released in 2013.
