Chris Liebing, Drumcell, and Truncate deliver the collaborative ‘The Heights EP’ this August on CLR. 

Teaming up for the first time, the techno trio comprising Chris Liebing, Drumcell, and Truncate drop two massive tracks on Liebing’s CLR imprint. With the artists having all previously contributed to the label and appearing on the likes of Droid Recordings, Mote-Evolver, Blueprint, and Mute between them, the combination of talent across the record results in two heavy, mind-bending, and precise techno cuts.

Leading the release, ‘DTL’ brings hard, swinging drums, twisted low-end, and modulating synth lines together for a heavy-hitting peak time bomb. ‘SGV’ sees the three producers meld rough textures and rattling percussion with constantly rising FX, with a trippy breakdown thrown in to keep dancers on their toes.

Alan Fitzpatrick's record label We Are The Brave drops a hypnotic techno EP by Venezuelan artist Marcel Reix whose style blends industrial percussion with dystopian atmosphere.

Marcel Reix is a Barcelona-based producer who has previously released on record labels including Eats Everything's EI8HT and Marco Bailey's MB Elektronics.

This release showcases his underground side with its analogue textures and raw aesthetic driven by the thump of a pounding kick drum.

""Acid Tension"" opens the release with its acid bassline and fast-flowing rhythms before ""Elevator"" lifts things up a gear with the swelling tension of its trippy synth. ""Limbo"" closes out the release with its bleeping melody and rattling percussion.

Slam return to Soma with the slick, minimalistic and hypnotic Activate EP. With a focus firmly rooted on the dance floor, the duo explore deeper and more hypnotic regions on this new EP, with a varied selection of raw, driving yet stripped techno.

Title track Activate opens with deep, driving, pulsing rhythms and straight forward percussive elements, lead with hypnotic vocal loops. Quantum delves deeper as dubbed out reverb & delay saturates the tripped out acid bass sounds that flicker into existence as stripped yet effective drums create the intensity. Somnambulist continues the stripped back nature of the EP as subtle changes in FX give the track live whilst the swelling percussive elements drive the rhythms. Trsmit offers up a tougher yet still minimalistic approach to close out the EP. An intense and tension building atmosphere is created throughout the track as warping synths swell & filter against a backdrop of sparse yet effective percussion.

"Boiler Room" is an idiosyncratic interpretation of contemporary melodic club music. Dubfire & Flug team up for the ‘Magma’ two-tracker on CLR.

Dubfire & Flug join forces for the ‘Magma’ EP on Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint, landing 27th September 2024. The EP marks SCI+TEC boss and Deep Dish legend Dubfire’s debut on CLR, with Argentinian techno lynchpin Flug returning to the label for the first time since his ‘Sincrodestino’ EP in 2014.

Dubfire & Flug’s ‘Magma’ EP on CLR starts with the title track, which sees crackling dub hits echo up top whilst deep low-end courses beneath its steady groove. ‘Magma’ is a raw and overwhelming force destined for late nights on powerful systems, enthralling dancers with its cavernous drops and frenzied soundscapes. ‘Friction’ then eases us in with whirring, electrifying acid as distant synths inch closer, culminating in a shadowy and hypnotic warehouse cut. Originally released as a B-side in 2007 on Figure‘s then-sublabel Podium, Len Faki‘s ‚My Black Sheep‘ was one of those rare tracks that unpredictably take on a life of their own. A veritable underground hit, it not only came to define the sound of Len Faki at that time but for many became equally synonymous with the state of the scene in Berlin around that time. Now that ten years have passed since then, we felt it was about time to finally treat the sheep to a fresh shave.

Featuring a variety of vibes, Deetron first takes us for an extended trip along rattling drums, his mantra-like use of the vocal drawing the listener deep into the rabbit hole. Down there things start swirling even more wildly around Jimmy Edgar‘s marimba arps, while Truncate forcefully slaps us back on track.

On the deeper flip side Cleric unexpectedly lays down a distorted barrage of broken beats amidst apocalyptic epic choirs and acid rain. Through the haunted shelters beneath the rubble Matrixxman weaves his subtle and dubbed out yet creepingly effective Isolation Mix.

Coming as a digital-only bonus is Cleric‘s straightforward Y remix - its hard- hitting metallic stabs making for a powerful floor-weapon.

While ‚My Black Sheep‘ already spawned a series of high-profile re-interpretations back in the day, this diverse remix- package successfully places the original within the present context. With this creative cut, the sheep is now ready for another decade‘s run!
