Jevon Ives & Chalky - Why Do We Run [alllone x neesnu Remix]

nevernotnow_001 is music from a period of great inspiration in the spring of 2021. Excited by the prospect of reclaiming my sense of purpose after a long year in the woods, I approached my studio with a yearning to reclaim the old rave days. I enlisted my trusty 909, twiddled up some synths, recorded old cassette samples to my MPC 2000XL, and got to work. Thus deep in the void, the tracks revealed themselves, day by day, night by night.

This is the first release of a new label I'm launching with some good friends here in Berlin called "Never Not Now" – can't wait to show you what else we have in store.

Big love to everyone who inspired me and helped move the needle on this project, whether it was bouncing ideas off each other, helping with mix feedback, or just sharing a space of collective inspiration. Key Ratio, Naty Seres, Nathaniel S, Tvielmetter, and of course Muriel, who showed me Snap! again and compelled me through the process by dancing to the good stuff late into the night.

Berlin-based imprint Through These Eyes has been a leading influence in the deeper sounds of 160-170 bpm for years now, across the spectrum of halftime, jungle, footwork, drum & bass, and beat music. Featuring releases from Booms and Claps favorites like Digid, TMSV, Folding City, and Sun People, most of their sought-after exclusive record releases sell out almost instantly, and their well-defined, subtle approach to bass music is imitated by many but duplicated by none. Their art direction is cohesive and consistent in a way that many labels struggle to achieve, which is all the more meaningful when the quality of the music is there to back it up.

Their next release is from up-and-coming German producer, Modul8. We haven't seen much from him in the past, but his sound is unique and his production is clean. Today's premier comes to us in the form of the soul-tinged footwork jungle tune "2L8" from the "Acceler8ed" EP, due to drop on May 15th, 2020.
