Legacy Sisters™

This is my submission for the Bleeding Fingers Contest. I took the collaboration approach and didn't remove much of the gold! My additions are strings, brass, winds, and percussion. I imagined if Destiny's Door is the start of a new adventure, that mine would be the end; an accomplishment, encompassing a mood of triumphant fulfilment, a return to loved ones with a sense of militaristic structure or an experienced gain, an emotion of being reunited. I worked on this all pro in my bedroom! Thank You for listening!

The corporate prototypes lab that created her, now with less of the original staff, checked to assess the power issue preventing her from shutting down but couldn't find the problem. They then purposefully removed thermal cooling compounds to see how much stress she could handle before going into a forced shutdown. This final test would be brutal. They abused her to see if she might have developed any fight back response; to invoke a previously demonstrated shred of frustration that could put their already diminished company image at risk but she couldn't defend herself., instead, expressing deeply obtained emotions from always being around and caring for good people; she was confused and helplessly subjected. Seeing no other anomalies were reported and with no time to spare, they turned to destructive endurance testing to use toward future products - struck her, pushed her from multiple heights and onto various surfaces.. lastly, a load of heavy debris was dropped, pinning her to the ground. Succumbed to her injuries, she was left missing an arm and in a motionless state of disrepair. The team satisfied with the result exited leaving behind only one bystander. She soon looked up, crying in panic and fear, reaching out to the only person left in a desperate attempt for help. This person who had known her as a lovable service companion since day one, seeing her now not just as antiquated but fatally damaged did what they felt inside, with memories pouring in and creeped out by what they'd contributed to; with no others around, she held her hand. The sun shone in over them. Her last words, with tears in her eyes then a faint smile were, "I'll see you again in the bright future!" Her eyes closed; she had finally shutdown for disposal...

Battle Dragged Wip 2

I decided that one of my practice tracks would become the theme for Aarel, who is a character I came up with a couple years ago. A bit of back story was written then too but in a week, I've expanded it to a word count of 20,000 - dialogue only. This was made to go with it. Thank you for listening!

New Beginning:

Instrumentation:  Lots!  Primarily traditional instruments mixed in with orchestra and synth. Also some choirs for a touch of epic-ness. 

Recordings:  Happily Nino is virtuoso on Yamaha plastic Fife and recorded it live!   Trev did a lot of field recordings gathered by strategically waiting and eating sandwiches out by the local fire hall with a recorder, and getting voice overs from unsuspecting friends.

Process behind the composition:  Team chose to work with the relating topics:  First a scene in ancient mystical Mayan times; the carving of a new calendar which foretells through alien knowledge the end of mankind as we know it, and the start of a new era.  Fast forward a couple thousand years or so to present day 2012 where pollution, wars, and natural disasters are wreaking havoc across the globe.  People are stretched to the point of being ready to make change. Near the end of 2012 increased solar activity caused complete shutdown of all power grids on earth for a month. Elite Energy  industries which held a monopoly on fossil fuels dragged progress for decades and now went down since people realized they they are free and independent. All of this lead to a rather dramatic shift in human conscience; to agree on a more sustainable future and a happier ending!

After we agreed on course we divided parts everybody started composing individually. Once the first drafts were shared and listened we exchanged stems and mixed a few versions. Once we decided on the exact form and the pace of piece everything was mixed and mastered.
