i made part of this in beepbox as always and then i got some drump samples and looped them in a online audio editor and here is the song! Also a lot of the weird noises are just really weird notes from weird instruments :)

Spaces is the latest improvised recording from the Spectral Ensemble featuring an electric keyboard, drums, and post-production editing in Audacity. The progressive jazz work of innovators like Miles Davis was an obvious influence, though less obvious may be the post-industrial inclinations towards an Einsturzende Neubauten-reminiscent style that emphasizes the contrast between silence and sound. That contrast results in spaces, hence this release's title, and in turn those spaces result in sound. Enjoy the sound.

Spaces

Refractions began with two improvised recordings back in March of 2021 that reflected a bit of the ol' DIY post-punk spirit in their reckless guitar'n'drum jamming. Over the course of the past year, these two takes were manipulated, stretched, and disfigured to make what initially was simply the noodling of two instruments into layer after layer of texture and sound. Influenced by the likes of Henry Cow, This Heat, Samla Mammas Manna, and even more modern groups like Black Midi and Squid, Refractions is our first attempt at tackling the spirit of post-punk and guitar experimentation. There's a lot to be said for the live component of jamming, but sound design and editing can bring out a whole new side of the very sound itself. We hope you appreciate the experimentation of Refractions.

Refractions

This song is my first attempt at trying to seriously use the DAW Fl Studio. It started off through a period of inspiration from other artists; specifically the EDM artist "Zircon". Since I knew Zircon used FL Studio for his music and I had the program, I decided to finally start an attempt at seriously making a song. But because my limitations in knowledge with the software and learning experience I really only acquired through experimenting with this song, this song has also become an experiment. At the end of composing this song I still have very much to learn about FL Studio 21 (which explains the lack of implementing more effects, etc. into this song), but I plan to learn more through seeing what other people do, and experimenting with songs of my own. 

Overall, this song is a compiling of inspirations from other artists, my own basic knowledge of electronic music, experimenting with FL Studio, and striving to make a catchy, cool-sounding electronic song with simple, but interesting progressions to catch the listeners attention and enjoyment, and hopefully inspire them as well. Although this project hasn't been nearly a masterpiece by any means, it has helped me a lot in music production as a whole since I have never seriously tried to compose in this DAW. I plan to make more songs with this program; likely more electronic for now (until I learn how to make more advanced music with FL), but until I attempt to make more songs in the future, enjoy this fun composition for now.

Generations Now

Of Light and Radiance is our first live edit since October of last year, expanding on the concept of taking a simple recording of piano, melodica, and a new addition in this case, acoustic guitar, and through subtle editing, lending it ambient qualities. In this particular case we thought the qualities here resembled that of light: shimmering, reflective, continuous, and perpetually beaming. We have hundreds of these live improvisations recorded, hopefully more will appear edited here in the future.
