Lui Mafuta presents This Ain’t Jazz, a boundary-pushing new EP that fuses live musicianship
with electronic sensibility—an exploration of jazz influence through a deeply personal and
collaborative lens. 
The release is available on digital platforms and as a limited vinyl edition.
At the heart of This Ain’t Jazz is a long-gestating idea: to bridge electronic music with an
organic, band - oriented aesthetic. 

Lui Mafuta reunited with four longtime friends and collaborators - Paul Janoschka, Felix Roos, Jonas Esser, and Benedikt Jäckle - who all studied music together in Mannheim before scattering across the globe. Under the loose collective named Weiller, they came together once again to create a sound that lives between genres.

The EP is a globe-spanning production. Piano was recorded on Paul Janoschka’s Steinway in his Frankfurt apartment; trumpet and clarinet were tracked in a rural French studio with Felix Roos; drums came from New York via Jonas Esser; and saxophone was laid down in Lui’s own studio in Mannheim alongside Benedikt Jäckle. All elements were finally assembled and shaped into a cohesive vision back in Mannheim.

“There’s less synth work on this one than usual,” Lui says. “Most of the textures come from the instruments themselves and a lot of sample mangling. I wanted it to feel raw, human, and alive.”

Despite its title, This Ain’t Jazz is a love letter to jazz’s influence. “I called it that just to be safe,” Lui jokes. “It isn’t jazz—but it’s coming from that space.” The project also serves as a reconnection to his roots: two of the four featured musicians are teenage friends from his earliest days making music.

COPY048, the long-awaited release by Lola Villa, serves up a psychedelic smoothie of house and slow groovy electronica that accidentally morphs into jungle reggaeton (don't ask how, it just does). Her album is a harmonious chaos of warm percussions that'll make your hips move whether you want them to or not.

"Hermanita Jaguar“, remixed by Opera Portátil, throws cinematic orchestras into bed with opera in the most beautiful collision ever. Plot twist: Lola recorded the sounds of Mexico City's last living river and went full mad scientist creating her own instruments for this album.

Total dancefloor catnip, all bathed in Mexican pink. Pro tip: pairs exceptionally well with fungi of the fun variety.

bīsu closes with ‘Hear Me,’ a hypnotic, sawtooth-laden seance suspended across fields of mangled pads that gradually transform into radiant clouds of otherworldly aether. Throaty incantations, blossoming strings, and commanding lead patterns bloom across the frequency spectrum like creeping hallucinogens. The result is both haunting and euphoric, a modulated blend of grit and transcendence.

Ro Rousseau | Blue Bull | Burning Man 2025

Berlin-based duo Thea & Schtu present Mond, their debut EP on Heimlich Musik. Known for their captivating live sets across European festivals, the pair translate the energy of their performances into two original tracks that balance deep grooves, playful melodies, and hypnotic atmospheres.

The title track Mond glides through lush pads and shimmering synth textures, carried by a warm, rolling bassline that invites both movement and introspection. Köln follows with a slightly darker edge, layering percussive details and drifting chords into a steady, late-night journey.

The remix contributions round off the EP with three distinct reinterpretations. Just Emma infuse the track with an organic, groove-laden warmth that subtly flirts with psychedelia. Kon Faber stretches Mond into a cinematic voyage, full of depth and dreamlike tension. Finally, Deisen strips things back for a minimal, club-focused take that tightens the energy and aims straight for the dance floor.

Mond captures Thea & Schtu’s ability to merge live spontaneity with studio precision — a debut that feels both intimate and dance floor-ready.
