The nylon string guitar was the first instrument I learned to play, and my introduction to a life in music. Last year I got the chance to brush up on my skills, and contribute with music for a documentary by the brilliant Bryony Wigley. 
Here's the piece I wrote. A gentle and meditative guitar track for sunsets and new beginnings. (The picture is not from the film.)

A New Chapter

Happy to share my recoding session for Girl with a Pearl Earring. As an exercise at the NFTS I created music for the opening sequence of the film with the same name. To do some additional research I also read the book, and decided to create music to reflect the mystery and feeling of going out into the unknown that I got, especially from the book and the painting. Girl with a Pearl Earring is a painting that has created many tributes in films, books and plays, and I add to that collection with my piece today. 

This was recorded at the fantastic Angel Studios with some truly great players, I'm very thankful for having had the opportunity to work with instrumentalists of this caliber.

Very happy to share the first of several sci-fi music tracks I'm writing at the moment. A little bit inspired by the film Annihilation, and a little bit inspired by my own experiments in music.

Annihilation

Qingling created this beatiful painting, and I asked if I could make some music for it. So here's my music for Dream Garden, our first art & music collaboration. 

Coming from film it's been really fun to envision a story for a painting, and I find that it's something that works quite well - The more time you spend looking at an artwork the more it reveals itself to you.

Dream Garden - Music for Artwork

Andreas Aaser, a composer with an innate gift for creating unique soundscapes, is quickly ascending the ranks in the film world. Born in Norway and now based in London, his journey began in 2019 when he earned his Master's Degree in Composition from the distinguished National Film and Television School in the UK. Underpinning his promising rise is a fruitful mentorship with the esteemed film composer Natalie Holt, which sparked collaborations on several notable productions, including Marvel's Loki and the Star Wars television series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Simultaneously, he is dedicated to sharing more of his standalone music, exploring diverse musical expressions, with his upcoming EP “Songs of the Future”, supported by Help Musicians, marking the beginning of an ambitious new chapter in his artistic journey.
