As we get ready for a busy summer, of spreading the sound of tomorrow across the globe, we can't help but take a step back and bring you all the feel good, forward thinking music you know and love from Soulection. This installment of our White Label series comes from 18 year old London composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer & violinist, Tom Misch. We felt the need to list all of this in the description, because each track is such an audio masterpiece. This one is for everyone, but true fans of Dilla, and smooth, mellow, R&B inspired hip-hop beats, will definitely enjoy this release.

"Basically this EP is me attempting to make instrumentals that will effect people moods in a positive way but also make people think, all produced and recorded by myself in my bedroom. Kairophony est une traversée du vivant par le son. Chaque morceau naît d’un lieu intérieur où le souffle, la mémoire et la matière se rejoignent. Une architecture vibrante, un organisme qui respire. Dans cet espace, le temps se déploie en spirales, en codons, en courants de lumière. Les voix, les éléments, les fréquences, tout s’entrelace. Orange Beamer

George Duke has been an inspiration to our ears for some time. His mid-70s fusion period, brought to us by pioneering jazz label MPS, gave us classic records like The Aura Will Prevail, Liberated Fantasies, and Feel. These gems all spent plenty of time on the turntable as we crafted our EP over the past year. As Duke made the leap from sideman and session musician to groundbreaking bandleader and producer, his first solo projects represented a striking new approach to jazz, funk, and R&amp;B. Lush pads, warm Rhodes, and far-out lead synths (not to mention incomparable keyboard chops) are just some of his signature sounds that have influenced our approach to production.

The Feel LP (1974) also represents one of Duke’s first efforts with a lyrical focus, and the album’s title track sees the instrumentalist offering wisdom through beautifully arranged, ethereal harmonies that resonate with the spirit of Columbia Nights. His message of transcendent love is one that we live by, and we hope that our re-imagining of Feel inspires you to do the same.
