TF #260: @chlo-lula [@aufnahme-wiedergabe] 

San Francisco-born, Berlin-based artist @chloe-lula has been involved with the electronic music scene for more than a decade. She started producing her first live sets in 2019, when she completed a month-long artist residency with Drew McDowall of Coil. The experience ignited her confidence in composition and allowed her to combine her classical cello training with electronics, melding granular synthesis with acoustic riffs and metallic percussion to create an alloyed brand of droned-out industrial electronica. Many of these jams ended up becoming the tracks on her debut EP with aufnahme + wiedergabe, where she’s been a resident for four years.

In addition to her career as a DJ, she is also a music journalist and a selector for her monthly punk show, ‘No Exit,’ on Refuge Worldwide Radio.

Βorn in Athens in the 80s, Sirap is a mix of multicultural musical influences. In recent years, he has been living permanently in Heraklion, where he is engaged in the production of electronic music.

Ηis favorite genres are mainly techno industrial, electro, noiz, acid, breaks and ambient.
His music is dark and fast with eerie elements and he likes experimenting a lot, spending endless hours in the studio teasing and exploring the world of synthesizers and modulars magic world.

"Stretched Skin" by Fangarm is a bold, immersive journey through the tension and transformation of sound. With a mix of modular techno and noise, the album pushes listeners to the edge, exploring the physical and emotional boundaries of both the self and the soundscape. Opening with "Always", the album starts with a reflective tone before diving into the chaotic energy of "AZA". Tracks like "Indifferent" and "Ohm" add depth, offering moments of cool detachment and grounding resonance. The playful yet unsettling "Pravda (Prada)" and the tactile "Skin" reflect the album’s dual themes of tension and release. With "Stretched", the album amplifies its sense of emotional and physical limits, while "Tongues" introduces discordant voices and fragmented rhythms. Closing track "Way" leaves listeners suspended, caught between resolution and uncertainty. A raw and experimental work, "Stretched Skin" combines heavy textures and intricate sound design, offering a visceral listening experience that challenges and captivates.

Fangarm is an experimental, improvised modular techno act known for creating powerful soundscapes that blend noise and techno. As a modular techno artist, Fangarm performs live, using hardware synthesizers and drum machines to produce unpredictable, dynamic sets that evolve in real time.
These performances are characterized by intricate layering, heavy textures, and intense energy. In addition to performing, Fangarm is a co-creator of the Norwegian label Physical Pattern, which focuses on cutting-edge modular techno and experimental electronic music.
Fangarm’s work exemplifies the experimental spirit of modular techno.

Abaddon Podcast 101 X Sharplines

In 1990, Frankie Bones opened “Groove Records,” a techno outpost deep in Brooklyn. Adam X soon became a co-owner and by 1995 the shop was relocated to Manhattan, with Heather Heart rounding out the trio. The new shop was called “Sonic Groove” and it quickly became ground zero for techno in New York City. There was nothing like it in the area at the time or, arguably, anywhere in America.

Sonic Groove was 110% dedicated to techno, a genre that was just past its infancy and exploding worldwide. A community emerged around the shop and thus the label was spawned.

Adam X had an agenda from the very beginning as label curator (and eventually sole owner): to release some of the most forward thinking underground techno music around. Realizing that goal was no easy feat, considering the volume of records being released at the time in a fast-paced and growing scene.

Fast-forward 25 years. Adam X and Sonic Groove are still at the forefront of modern underground techno, sticking to the same ethos and pushing the envelope further into the future. The faces and sounds may have changed, but the label has kept true to the vision. In an era now dominated by image, style, and trivial content, Sonic Groove continues its mission of putting the music first and foremost.

Now in celebration of 25 years, Sonic Groove releases a muscular 12 song compilation of  previously unreleased music comprised from the label's current artist roster.  A testament to techno's ever evolving sound and serves as a modern document showcasing the path Sonic Groove has taken and where it has led to, proving that as time passes, there is still room for creativity and innovation in the genre as demonstrated throughout these 12 tracks.

Created by label head Positive Centre, In Silent Series X brings a huge batch of sounds for you to use in your own experiments. In this pack you will find hundreds of loops and sounds to serve as raw materials to be cut up, rearranged and manipulated to create your own tracks which you can submit to In Silent Series to be considered for a future compilation (next submission date is September 1st). 

As a guide to these sounds, In Silent Series will be releasing a series of 4 track EP’s created by some of the most talented producers of the modern era using the ISS X Sounds. Today we present a stellar track from ISS founder Positive Centre and Italian artist Tullia Benedicta. The piece perfectly builds from haunting atmospheres to rhythmic experimentations for a powerful composition which lodges deep in the psyche. Further, the 10th EP on ISSX brings together some of today’s most talented producers including Stephanie Sykes, Ireen Amnes and  Go Hiyama.
