Lyon-based artist Tauceti has emerged as an intriguing talent in recent years. As a producer, Tauceti leans into the more obscure areas of lustrous techno and hazy ambient. On her four-tracker “47038”, she fuses these aesthetics to produce a collection that bridges the dancefloor and introspective listening.

“Minya Konka” opens the EP with gnarly drums and a luminous synthline, oscillating between dense and airy soundscapes. “Minghun” melds droney textures with wintry pads, stirring up a macabre atmosphere. On a driving note, “Plum Blossom” uncoils with rolling kickdrums and aqueous stabs, forming a lithe and limber 4/4 number. The closing tune, “Queqiao”, is a beatless slow burner set against a soupy backdrop, pierced with light-sabre-like FX. It summarises Tauceti’s polished sound design, which bleeds throughout “47038”, and showcases her explorations into dusky, cinematic techno and noise-led sounds.

CLR welcomes back label staple DEAS for the ‘Fear’ EP

Following three stellar outings on Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint, DEAS returns to the label with the ‘Fear’ EP. For this release, the Greece-born Polish artist excellently demonstrates the use of tension in his music, with the title track building in energy through rolling bass and rhythm, counterbalanced by the sudden, imposing strikes of a string instrument.

The industrial ‘Are You Sure’ continues, featuring cavernous dub hits and hammering kickdrums, before the slicing synths in ‘Dice’ echo relentlessly throughout its clever arrangement. Last in line, ‘Koma’ then closes out this quality techno offering from the Planet Rhythm, Arts, and ara artist, growing in intensity via distorted grooves marked by tripped-out claps and DEAS’ signature use of suspenseful melodies.

In a much-anticipated return to the imprint's catalogue, label head Tommy Four Seven unveils his first solo release in four years: 47039. Lauded as a pioneer of "uncompromising vision" by Resident Advisor, the producer has further honed his tight, technical and highly nuanced palette in a collection that alchemizes rolling techno and plaintive broken beat. 

Opener "SWORN" is the toughest and most tactile track on the EP, sculpted with searing synth lines that snake through dense percussive thickets. On "IXIAN", Tommy gives a hazy nod to his roots in drum n' bass with a half time groove that splinters with meteoric sweeps and mangled vocals—a readout from beyond. The B-side is still stamped with Tommy's impeccable attention to sound design, yet it turns downwards, mining cavernous and soul-penetrating depths. "CYCLES", an aqueous four-to-the-floor cut that burbles with effervescent chord stabs, offers softer shades that spill into spectral ambient closer "AERIAL". It's a lighter side we rarely hear from the British talent, displaying his tenacity as a far-reaching, constantly evolving artist with a knack for bringing listeners into 47's far-reaching otherworldly fold.

For the 4th edition of Involve’s ‘Nightclub Pros’ series, Regal once again invites a mix of established and upcoming artists to showcase the bandwidth of the Madrid based label’s sound. 

On the front side, Roll Dann, who made his Involve debut oin the very first Nightclub Pros edition, opens the VA with ‘Culebra’, a heavy-hitting techno masterpiece with a rolling bassline, tinges of industrial sounds and a driving energetic drum work. Following up, SlugoS delivers the fast-paced, distorted sounding warehouse anthem ‘Seconds to Midnight’, characterizes by a rumbling kick, a ferocious melody and an ambience reminiscent of the early 2000’s Schranz movement. 

On the back side, Kristian Heikkila teams up with Johan Afterglow, keeping up the energy with their track ‘Lies’, making the listeners dive into an underground world where distorted and echoing screams penetrate their brains. Up-and-coming producer SWRD, part of the duo ITNA, closes the record with a mystic ride staged by a combination of synths and an ominous piano melody in his track ‘Alpha’, an epic end to the 4th edition of the NIghtclub Pros series.

In the authors words, this EP was recorded while he was restructuring his modular equipment. 

This "always provides an exciting moment of exploration and discovery of new sounds. I added quite a few new modules in that time and, in my experience, that is one of the best opportunities to have happy accidents in the studio because the system itself takes me to a combination of sound sources, sequencers and effects that work together". Hence the name Unruly Machines. "Ive experimented a lot with spectral techniques and layering, which is most prominent in the textures of Corridor and the main synth line of Targa. The tracks were also created in a phase where I started incorporating more and more dedicated drum modules. 

The first order of business was, of course, to route them through a bunch of external effects (mainly distortion and delays), which contributed to the raw sound of some of the tracks".
