Prolog

In the reckoning of the old Celtic peoples, time was not a line but a turning.
The year breathed in the measure of the moon, and its strength was renewed as light and darkness yielded to one another.

Within this turning, the powers of growth, healing, and warmth were understood as a single presence: Belenos, the Shining One.

Belenos was not worshipped apart from the land.
His force was known in the fire kindled at the proper season, in the greening of fields, in the health of cattle and people, and in the measured return of the sun.

Through rites of fire, procession, and blessing—most clearly at Beltane—his light was invited to pass between heaven and earth, awakening fertility and guarding life.
The ancient calendars of the Celts, shaped by lunar reckoning, divided the year into thirteen returns of the moon.

Each return marked a change in the breath of the world: concealment and stirring, growth and fullness, harvest and withdrawal, rest and promise.
These were not abstract divisions, but living moments, acknowledged through work, offering, and remembrance.

This album follows such a cycle.
Its thirteen pieces are conceived as steps of the sun, traced through a lunar year.
Each movement reflects a state of the land and a corresponding aspect of Belenos: the hidden spark beneath the soil, the fire that walks the fields, the gold of fullness, the slow descent into shadow, and the vow of return.

The music bears no voice, for these rites were older than words.
They were carried by rhythm, drone, breath, and the steady pulse of time itself.
What is heard here is not a reconstruction of a single lost ceremony, but a faithful evocation of a worldview in which nature, light, and season were bound as one.

Thus the cycle begins, and thus it closes—only to begin again.
