You can hear a wide range of influences in Hermitude's music; from hip hop and R&B to soca, dub and house. While varied, their sound is never left floundering in the realms of mish-mash obscurity, instead finding a sense of direction balanced between indoor and dancefloor, with latest single Through The Roof definitely geared towards the latter. On remix duties for the Syndey based duo is fellow Syndeysider, Kilter, who you may remember from his huge remix of Ben Pearce's What I Might Do. Respected producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elderbrook is set to round off the summer with his biggest body of original work to date; the 7 track ‘Talking’ EP, due for release on the 1st September on Kobalt. 

The deluxe EP is a culmination of the many styles that have influenced Alexander Kotz over the course of his career. Moving through various moods and subgenres, it still contains his inimitable vocals and overarching sense of feeling that have come to characterise the Elderbrook sound. 

The first single to come from the full-length production, ‘Woman’, is here! The laid back pace is matched with pitched-down chopped vocals, contrasting with the wistful lyrics. It’s produced by Craven J, but exemplifies Kotz’s unique approach to being a singer and a producer; “phonetics are as important as lyrics. My voice adds another percussive element to the sounds.”

I remember seeing Blush'ko when he did vocals for Goldlink when he did his 'like a version' for triple j, i was like "Holy shit who tf is this white dude with this soulful ass voice". 

One thing led to another and dm's where slipped....and out came this beautiful baby that we made togther (sorry lmao). 

We had a session in sydney late 2019 and seeing this dude's process is absolutely amazing, he can swing and write with the best of them for sure.
