Maggie Dent's tips for talking to kids about death and grief

Bunbury mother Taryn Barrett started the south west chapter of Conquer Cystic Fibrosis – a charity that raises money for research and services that improves the lives of kids born with CF.
She chatted with ABC South West’s Stan Shaw about what it’s like being the parent of a newly-diagnosed child with CF.
“The scariest thing as a mother is to have to watch your child suffer and obviously die before you,” she says.
“The life expectancy is 37 and it’s a scary, scary statistic and a scary number.”
She explains that she and her husband Adrian didn’t know they carried the CF gene until her son’s diagnosis...

FIGHT FOR KIDS WITH CYSTIC FIBROSIS

A family of 13 siblings who grew up in Dardanup is closing in on an extraordinary world record-oldest combined age. 
They currently sit at 1071 years while the world record is 1075. 
Their parents lived to the ripe old age of 91 and 95 so it appears longevity is in the genes.
