Two Native Title Determinations were finalised today in Cairns. The Honourable Justice Greenwood presided over the Determination hearings on behalf of Wuthathi, Kuuku Ya'u and Northern Kaanju peoples.

The first claim is for 1,645.1 square kilometers comprising the land and waters subject to two former pastoral holdings known as Bromley and Boynton. The second is 1,181.2 square kilometers over an area of land in and around Shelburne Bay on the east coast of the Cape York Peninsula.

Aaron Briscoe (Co-Chair, National Indigenous Cricket Advisory Committee)was at today's announcement in Alice Springs Town Council that the inaugural National Indigenous Cricket Championships and the Imparja Cup will be held in Alice Springs until at least 2018.
The National Indigenous Cricket Championships – part of Cricket Australia’s restructured Indigenous cricket competitions – will bring together Australia’s most talented male and female Indigenous cricketers annually in Alice Springs from 2016.

On July 1, 1990 a new Indigenous Australian radio programme first went to air on ABC Local Radio.

Speaking Out was the first mainstream radio programme to be presented and produced by Australia's First Nations peoples.

It was also the first national Indigenous programme to be based in Brisbane, Queensland.

Hear from inaugural presenter, Wayne Coolwell, producer Aaron Ross and longest serving Speaking Out presenter/producer Karen Dorante about their time on this ground breaking Australian radio programme.

The Reflection Tour is an annual musical touring program featuring ensemble Musician’s
In 2015 the tour includes Aboriginal performing Artists Stephen Pigram and William Barton, travelling across some remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia.
The musicians visit remote and regional communities in WA including ; Wyndham, Emma George, Kununurra, Beagle Bay, Djarindjin, Lombadina, One Arm Point, Broome, Port Headland, Yule River, Munjina and the tour ends in Perth on 29th September Perth.

Traditional owner Bunna Lawrie has warned the Great Australian Bight risks destruction if oil giant BP is allowed to drill in the area.

BP has applied to drill four exploration wells next year, with a decision pending from the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority.

Bunna Lawrie, who is concerned about the impact on whale species, told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday the bight is "a gift of life" and he cannot cannot let BP do what they are trying to.

Speaking Out is one of Australia's longest running Indigenous radio programs and has been on air for 25 years. It was the first radio program to be Presented and Produced by First Nation people.

It  covers a wide variety of topics from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective as well as keeping across international First Nations news and views.
