Fall Down Wiseman -Abdullah Miniawy trio + Erik Truffaz (Live from Beeflat Bern, Switzerland 2024)

A peacock dreams of being a poet. It ponders, trying to shed its colors, turning its feathers into a gradient of flesh. On the other side, a poet longs for the peacock’s colors; a galactic blend of earth, forest, sea and sky, as seen from a vantage point. The poet can close their eyes and absorb the knowledge of the finite. Yet, trapped in a monotone concentration, eyebrows plucked down to 111, they miss much. The peacock, dipping deep into the ink of the poet's pen, sails through a tube into the poet's body. A fluttering storm erupts, reversing the roles: the peacock finds itself under arrest warrant While the poet, his utterance collapsing into a cry; haunting, like a peacock's wail struggles to describe the world.

طاووسٌ يحلم بأن يكون شاعراً. يحدق، متخلصاً من ألوانه، محولًا ريشه إلى تدرجٍ لوني من اللحم. من ناحية أخرى، يتوق الشاعر إلى ألوان الطاووس؛ مزيجٌ مجريٌّ من الأرض، والغابة، والبحر، والسماء، يُرى من نقطةٍ عالية. يمكن للشاعر أن يُغمض عينيه ويمتصّ معرفة المحدود، لكنه يفقد الكثير، محاصراً في تركيزٍ رتيب، حاجباه مشدودان إلى ١١١.

في ظلمات الجسد الملتهمة، تتحرك الألوان مثقلةً بعبء الراحة المتزايدة والجشع المادي. تنبثق الكلمات لتتحدث وتتوسّل من أجل الوحدة: من أجل الاندماج، من أجل الامتزاج. يسعى النور لأن يشتعل من جديد، متوسّلًا العون.

تصير آلات الترومبون وسائط للسفر عبر هذا النور، حاملةً تقنية غنائية جديدة مستوحاه من الباروك داخل غلاف ذهبي، في فعل يضخّ الأمل باستخدام لونين رمزيّين: الأخضر والبنفسجي. هذان اللونان يرمزان إلى مشاعر إنسانية طواها النسيان منذ زمن بعيد.

تحمل الأغنية عنوان الرقصة الداخلية للبطن، وقد كُتبت أيضًا بالإيطالية، وُلدت من شغف عبد الله منياوي بهذه اللغة والقرابة الإلهية التي تربطها بدانتي. إنها رحلة سماوية افتراضية تبدأ من الداخل؛ فطريق الأنبياء ينشأ من الهمسة الداخلية للّون، من صوت خافت. وتُعد هذه الأغنية الإسهام الثاني باللغة الإيطالية بعد قصيدة "بياتريتشي" التي كتبها وأدّاها "ميناوي" في ألبومه السابق أنيجم النجم.

يبلغ المشروع ذروته في كورال مؤلف من هويات صوتية مختلفة لبنانية ومصرية وفرنسية، يخترق حدود اللغة، ويُنتج وحدة صوتية نبحث عنها في أيامنا هذه، بعيدًا عن أقفاص الإنترنت وتعقيدات الهوية.

Within the devouring darkness of the body, colors stir burdened by the growing weight of comfort and material greed. Words emerge to speak and plead for unity: for fusion, for intermingling. Light seeks to ignite once more, begging for help.

Trombones become vessels of travel through this light, embedding a new vocal technique inspired from baroque within a golden shell an act that pumps hope into the use of two symbolic colors: green and violet. These hues signify long-forgotten human emotions.

The song is titled Internal Belly Dance and in Italian, too born of the Miniawy's passion for the language and the divine kinship it shares with Dante. This is a hypothetical celestial journey that begins from within. The path of the prophets originates internally from the whisper of color, from a faint voice. To be the second contribution in Italian language after Beatrice poem written and performed by Miniawy released in his previous album Nigma Enigma.

The project culminates in a choir composed of Lebanese, Egyptian, and French voices, breaking through the boundaries of language and creating a sonic unity that we search for in our modern days far from internet cages, and identities complex.

As an intention of visiting a day and to leave an other, as an habit
melting in self-parting, to come another day and to leave another, but with a stain of stupidity.

As a rival of an inner hidden disloyal spirit that fades away itself too,
and sneaks musically while walking on the small gravels, As an intention of silence
as a poor poet misses his self-slap
who gets in a rug, and rolls himself inside, as in Islamic coffin.

Who Declares:
I am in the sea now. you must chant.

He will follow the moon direction not the city design,
while he soaks in apology, that runs suddenly happily
to push the mythical seaport, with a feet.

As an intention of self-awareness and depth
he inspects the sea with his protruding eyes,
the receiver who waits in the other side turns his back in the same time.

As an intention of breaching the agreement,
the poet has kept all that time while reading all these signs,
when they’ve met for the first time, when they’ve understood each other, when they’ve even disagreed.

He was pulled in a whirlpool like a floating basket
he has thought they’re looking at him, him and his inner self
one of him, has splitted in two while pointing to a sudden orb..
one of him, has claimed : "a black door written above it, It’s endless"
He has turned back into one, he has thrown the rope of the boat, That gave all the freedom to the whirlpool.

He has tried hardly to use his hands as an intention of blasphemy
While he has declared non sensely :
"I’m in the sea now you must do something."

غبا فتغب غبا أغبى
غريم لغدار غاب أخبا
غناء الغفى واختفى
شاعرٌ مسكينٌ يشتاق الكفَ
فتلحفَ حكأ حف الملحفة
وقال أنا في البحر الآن
اهتفي

سأتبعُ القمرَ وأمشي آسفا
فهفا فرحاً ودف المرفأ
يمشط البحر مطرفا
هو و اللقيف أدارا القفا
تعرفا تنافرا تخالفا
طافوا به نحو القُفِ
 تراءى له انهما يتشاوفا
أشار له وصاحَ مجازفا
لما توافق طريدا هفا 
تصافحا تفاهما أن تفتفا

Biography - 2025 

Abdullah Miniawy (born 1994) is an Egyptian expressionist, writer, singer, composer, 3D generalist (programmer) and actor. Over the years, he has shared the stage with celebrated artists like Erik Truffaz, Kamilya Jubran, Yom, Médéric Collignon, Aly Talibab, A Filetta, Hvad, Ziur, Zuli, Simo Cell, Maurice Louca, and many others. Abdullah has performed at prestigious international venues and festivals, including the 72nd Festival d’Avignon, French national theaters, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, Haus der Kunst in Munich, MAO Museum in Turin, Philharmonie de Paris, and even the Louvre in Paris.

Beyond his music, Abdullah showcased his acting talent in Ala Eddine Slim's Tunisian feature film Tlamess, which premiered at the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival in 2019. The film received critical acclaim, winning Best Full-Length Feature Film at Kino der Kunst 2020 and Best Director at the Marrakech International Film Festival in 2020. Abdullah was shortlisted for Best Actor by the Arab Cinema Center at Cannes. He also directed his first short film, Rain Ticket in 2021.

As a composer, Abdullah has composed soundtracks for dance, theater, and exhibitions, including Wael Shawki’s Cabaret Crusades III, premiered at MoMA PS1; Kirsten Dehlholm’s AMDUAT, premiered at Hotel Pro Forma; Insurrection by Jilani Saadi; and On the Hill by Belhassen Handous.

His influence extends beyond the arts. In 2021, the European Parliament in Strasbourg selected Abdullah as one of three "change makers" from the Schengen area, inviting him to share his French-Egyptian perspective on contemporary issues at the European Youth Event’s “Live Fully” section. He also took part in "Europe Takes Part," a forum of 30 diverse speakers discussing economic models and digital solutions for artists in a post-pandemic world. Since 2015, Abdullah has collaborated with the German trio Carl Gari, blending avant-garde electronic sounds with his poetic lyrics. Their debut album, Darraje, was named one of the top 50 albums of 2016 by NPR. Theirfollow-up, The Act of Falling from the 8th Floor, received acclaim from Pitchfork, The Quietus, and Wire Magazine, while the track "Zawaj" topped Resident Advisor’s list of "Deep Listening" tracks in 2019.
 
In 2023, Abdullah’s album Le Cri du Caire, featuring Erik Truffaz, won the Les Victoires du Jazz award—the French equivalent of the Grammy Awards—achieving global distribution and acclaim.
As a writer, Abdullah's lyrics resonate deeply across the Middle East, especially during the Arab Spring, where they were displayed in places like Syria's Yarmouk Camp, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab and Western countries. In early 2022, he released his first collection of stories, Extinguishing The City of Lights. 

To date, Miniawy has created or collaborated on nearly 700 shows and cultural exchanges across Europe and beyond, with up to 80 live performances scheduled worldwide for the 2023-2024 season. 
Each performance has been met with standing ovations and has left audiences with unforgettable moments.
